Good day out on the course today. If your in Tenerife would definitely suggest the Las Americas course.
Managed to have 6 birdies and finish 1 under. Thanks to my German playing partners, language barrier was an issue at times but we still enjoyed it πŸŒοΈβ€β™€οΈ

Impact Training
*The most important position in golf but the one most golfers rarely practice*
Here is a clip of a drill I used with Grant during his lesson this week. The key was to feel a solid left side as he hits the bag. He then took this feeling into the ball.
... Notice how when he strikes the bag his hips are forward but his head has stayed back. Don’t cheat this drill and do so by allowing the upper half to move forward.

Here’s a clip of a lesson review I done with Sally today at the end of her session. Each student gets sent a video like this explaining the key points were working on after each lesson.
If you want to put a plan in place for your golf this season then get in contact and we can get started.

*Slicers take note*
Not many slicers have this look with the body through impact.
On the downswing the lower body should lead the upper. As seen by James demonstrating this wall drill during a lesson an end of lesson review.
... The sequence is as follows;
1. Push the belt buckle over the left foot, into the wall 2. Unweight the right foot to allow this to happen 3. Keep the upper body back which allows the club to attack on a shallow inside path

Get your wedge play down this winter and reap the rewards this season
Here is a clip of me working with Andy Nightingale in the studio. Our aim is to develop a low launching high spinning wedge flight. A low flighted wedge makes it so much easier when it comes to controlling distance.
... If you need help with this area of your game please send me a message and we can put a plan in place

Good improvements being made by KD so far this winter.
Our first aim is to shallow the shaft better in the downswing and as a result he managed to move the path more to the right. This is a key component if you want to learn to draw the ball consistently.
If you wish to achieve this setup the drill we used with the alignments. One of the ground to match the shaft up with in the downswing and another in a basket just outside the hands to swing under.

Grant is 2 months into his Off Season Coaching Programme and the changes are starting to take shape
During this session we used a drill to work on rotation thru the ball and keep his spine angle. This allowed Grant to get much better control of the face to path

Driver off the from 220 yards
This takes serious control of the clubhead through impact. Very impressive stuff from Tom on the course.
Aim was to get down to 7 this season. Smashed through that and is now off 5. Congratulations on all your achievements this year mate πŸ‘

Feedback when practicing is crucial as it lets you know whether your making the correct movement or not.
This station was setup for KD with the purpose of moving the path more to the right and encourage more of a push draw.
If the shoulders spin out to start the downswing the hands will move out and hit the noodle.
... Congratulations to KD for winning the August medal last weekend with a nett 65. Productive practice is the key to success and lowering that handicap.
If you want to improve you golf give me a call and we can set you your own practice plan.

*Draw Practice Station*
Here is a practice station I setup for James during his lesson this week.
The aim is to start the ball right of the blue noodle and curve back to the target. The stick with headcover is in place for James to swing his arms under.
... Having feedback in place is important when practicing so your know if your make a good or bad swing. Sometimes you can cheat and hit a good shot with a bad swing.

Check out this spinning wedge shot Aarian hit into 11 during a lesson last week.
To create spin you need speed through the hit. The two keys we worked on were;
1. Keep the sternum turning through the shot
... 2. Feeling of width with the club allowing the sole of the wedge to brush the ground not the leading edge digging in

Solid pitching action here from James
Key is to keep the clubhead in front of the body as he pivots back and through.
This allows him to keep the loft on the clubhead consistent through the motion. As result contact and ball flight were easier to control.
