Delamere Campsite And Fishery

About Delamere Campsite And Fishery

Delamere began as a small holding in the 1980's before diversifying into a fishery and Camping & Caravan Club site in 1993. The lake is 1. 5 acres and 8-9ft at its deepest.

Day Tickets are £5 if pegs are available, usually OK mid week, but worth ringing at a weekend. Night Fishing is £15 for 24hrs 1pm to 1pm; limited to four per night. Pre-booked night pegs are not available to day anglers. With size of fish now being caught a landing mat and a suitable landing net are required. Ring 07507704172 if a booking is required.

The pool was stocked in 1993 with Bream, Roach, Perch, Chubb, Tench, Crucian and Rudd alongside 25 mirror /common /ghost Carp of 7-11lb plus an additional 40 smaller carp. Since then Delamere has provided fishing for silver fish and experienced carp fisherman alike. A large island, a variety of established weed beds, reeds, and lilly pads provide a good range of features to accommodate all fishing styles. Carp range from a few pounds to 32lb (August 2013); photos on this site already show fish to 28lbs at winter weights. A different fish in an Anglers mail photo is at 25lb plus; now that records are being kept, we would expect more fish to become known at these weight levels. The photos show many fish at 17lb plus which will carry on growing. The lake has only been stocked once, and been allowed to mature naturally.

Delamere is not an aquarium and it takes a degree of skill to catch these fish. We encourage anglers to come and look around before booking.

We pride ourselves for our high quality water and fish. As such we kindly ask that Fishermen abide by the all following rules to keep it that way:

- All day tickets run from dawn till dusk, 24 hour tickets run from 1pm or time of arrival if later to 1pm next day. Once the gate is closed you will be locked in until it opens at dawn.

- Night fishing must be booked in advance on 01827713792 or 07800865488 or via Facebook. Day Ticket booking in advance is advised as peg numbers are being cut to 10;

- The toilets are there to be used but please do not abuse them, please report any problems to the owners.

- Please respect other anglers and keep noise to a minimum, this includes electronic bite alarms.

-Two rods maximum; 3 at night if 2 licences are produced.

- Use the bins located around the lake, litter will not be tolerated.

- Barbless hooks are to be used.

- Please use rigs that can safely eject the lead if a line breakage may occur.

-No braided mainline.

- Large unhooking mats and suitable landing nets must be used when carp fishing, please keep mats and slings wet when handling the fish.

- floating retention slings may be used for a maximum of 20 minutes to allow the fish to recover before returning it to the water.

- keep nets for silver fish anglers are allowed at our discretion, however large fish must be returned to the water.

No photo, but first twenty of the year to Steve Marsden. A 23lb from Peg 3. Fully booked this Fri and sat night. For interest to course anglers, saw a near 2lb roach off peg 10, mid way across, away from all features, last week as well. Please ring Frances on 07507704172 to make bookings/confirm availability for other dates.

Not sure of the weight but from a previous year this shows one of the bigger tench in Delamere caught by Lee Preston. I have seen them weighed at 7lbs. Best pegs for tench are on emerging pads, Pegs 2, 5, 6. Also had a few mid teens carp coming out. They can clearly be seen on the top at present.

We dont always get the photos, but although hard fishing, this last week has seen 25lb (mirror) and 24lb (common) a 7lb Bream and 5lb and 6lb tench. We would appreciate photos of any smaller carp and other species; not any 1oz Perch though! Happy Fishing.

Liam Reynolds will confirm it is not easy to catch, he has had blanks, but persistence pays off. Bottom pic was in Sep 15 at 27lb10oz.
