Stunning photo from Carol, thanks for sharing.
Please take a few moments to object to this ludricous planning request to build a pub pretty much in the middle of the reserve opposite Dothill Primary School. The link to the planning application is in Catherine Woods post below.

Had the pleasure of chatting to the guys from Pearce Environment Ltd today about the work they are carrying out on the long pool by the football field.
Fantastic to see professionals working in the area.
So, what's going on?
... "Essentially it is years of neglect that has caused a natural succession of vegetation so much so that the pond almost dries out. The need is there now to remove the majority of reedmace and desilt.
This allows open areas for great crested newt breeding in spring. Some overshading by willow, has been overcome by tree felling to let light in to help the diversity of the water.
All the arisings form the work are left on site as habitat piles for use by birds, amphibians and small mammal species."
I look forward to seeing this area spring back into life later in the year.

The cygnet that was reported on the old Charlton school site was collected by the RSPCA and, after assessment, was released onto the River Severn in Ironbridge with cygnets of a similar age.
