An enjoyable morning opening the new Nisa Local store in Coal Pool. £185,000 has been spent on the refurbishment and it's looking great. Pop in this weekend and grab a bargain.

We're a friendly bunch in Walsall North, so I'd like to welcome Nigel Farage to the constituency. We both want to deliver Brexit and I'm going to do everything I can to make sure that happens. Meanwhile, the Labour Party plan to protest outside his event in Willenhall...

I had a great time getting to grips with bowls at Bloxwich Stafford Road Bowls Club. It was founded in 1934 and is still going strong with over 100 members. Thanks to Mike and his team for showing me how it's done. They hold regular tournaments and matches for people of all ages. If you'd like to get involved in the sport, contact the club on 01922 405891.

GOOD LUCK to all students (and their families) starting their exams; whether it’s GCSEs, SATS, A Levels, University and others this week. And best wishes to the amazing teachers who have made success possible...

I was delighted to visit Phoenix Academy in Leamore today. Students are donating their old school uniforms and other items to less privileged children in countries around the world. Phoenix are working with Soroptimist International Walsall towards this great cause. https://sigbi.org/walsall/

I'm looking forward to seeing this area in Goscote transformed into a brand-new housing estate. Over 400 new homes will be built on the wasteland near Goscote Lodge Crescent using modern construction methods to get quality family homes up and running very quickly. It's a priority for the Keepmoat developers to generate local employment and apprenticeships for young people here in Walsall. I'll update you as construction progresses.

I recently got the opportunity to congratulate headteacher Jenn Willmitt and her team at Willenhall E-ACT Academy on their progress. Following a positive Ofsted report, the school is no longer in the special measures category. They are the most improved school in Walsall and are getting some great results. The school say: "There is undoubtedly much more work to be done, but Ofsted’s findings show that Willenhall E-ACT Academy students and staff can together look forward to a bright future."

Whether they are buying or selling, Labour always get it wrong. 20 years ago Gordon Brown sold a substantial amount of our gold reserves... when the price was at an historic low. More recently Walsall Labour bought the Saddlers Centre for a whopping £13m... just before M&S moved out.

I was delighted to be able to donate £105 to St Thomas' Church on the Mossley estate in Bloxwich. Revd Chris Davies plans to put it towards setting up a Place of Welcome as a community get together for residents on the Mossley. If you know a group or cause we can contribute to - let me know in the comments below.

Road improvements are taking place at Harden Road (junction of Broadstone Avenue, Well lane and Beeches Road). This is to repair the road and will be complete on the 29th April. Despite the inconvenience, it's great to see Walsall Council investing money to ensure road repairs are carried out...
