In keeping with our commitment to the local community, we continue to enjoy a mutually beneficial set up where we seek to employ the village youth, as they reach the transition stages through GCSE, A level, and the returners during University. in a new venture for us, this week we also welcome a work experience member of staff, alongside our new part-timers and our regular staff. So you should find lots of helpful and willing bods around the store, however, please bear in mind some of them are very much in the learning stage and will have to find out the answer to your query from established staff. On the plus side, they are all lovely, we are very proud of our youngsters, and you will be in good hands!!

So you have probably noticed our fantastic new mural on the front of the shop by the main door? Ettington Primary School held a competition for the best design and the winning entry has now been transposed onto the front wall of the shop. We have been delighted that the local school have been involved to this level, and love the winning design, truly we aim to be an important part of village life and love every opportunity we get to embrace this. thank you and well done to all the competition entries, and we love the one you chose for our 'forever' design!!

Women's cycle tour going through Ettington 15 June 2018.

User

Please be aware that the Women's OVO Cycle Tour will be coming through the village today at around midday and that driving and parking will be affected for a short time. Ettington also formed part of the route last year, you might remember, and it was an exciting spectacle to watch.http://www.womenstour.co.uk/stages/ stage-3/

Barclays bank in Wellesbourne is on the branch closure list for this August sadly. Fortunately Barclays customers can still do cash and cheque banking instore here through the post office, so no need to battle the Stratford traffic and parking - phew!! You will need to request a paying-in book from your branch, especially if banking cheques, and we can do the rest for you.

The Post Office facility is being upgraded here this afternoon and is therefore closed from 1.30pm for aproximately 3 hours, at which time normal service will reccomence to the end of the day. Thankyou for your patience while we improve our systems.

We now have copies of Exploring Ettington's Past by Robert Allso, available to purchase here or direct from Bob. Price ┬Ż7.50 as before.

Anyone passing in front of the shop this evening will have seen this lovely lot hard at work. These are the Scouts from the Pillerton Scout Group earning elements of their Community & Gardening badges. They've done digging and weeding and composting this evening and the Beavers and Cubs will be planting the bed in a month or so. To quote one of the leaders 'We are giving back to Andrew who has financially supported us since we opened'.

Its especially around this time of year that we are thinking of our friend, Marion Nason, who worked in the old shop for many years and was a wonderful part of village life ŌØż’ĖÅ A circular walk around Walton hall has been arranged for Sunday 29th April, meeting at 2 pm in Walton Hall Church car park, followed by tea and cake (┬Ż6.50) in the Lemon Tree & Orangery at 3 pm, when a collection will take place for Shipston Home Nursing. As per last year, some will do the walk and others will go just for tea. All Welcome. Entrance to the hotel via the Wellesbourne/Kineton road.

Lovely people actually helping you in the store. So great having a local post office. When it comes to the stock I think it is super. Fresh warm bread and breakfast goodies, a great variety of wine. Plenty of fresh fruit and veg. Local goods when in season. Cannot fault it. And everything at sensible prices. A store I enjoy supporting.
