SLIMMING WORLD CLUB...... OR SLIMMING WORLD CULT?????
Always a hot topic of debate is the does it doesnt it work debate, so rather than me give you another bias opinion I will give you THE FACTS........
... CONTROLLING FOOD INTAKE.
The 1st thing to estabilsh (this is fact not opinion) is that fundamental requirement above anything else to allow weight loss to occur is CALORIE DEFICIT.
SW - The sysytem allow's followers/cult memebers to eat an unlimited number of calories. In no possible way can an individual eat an unlimited amount of meat, veg, rice, pasta or anything else classed as "FREE FOOD" and lose fat or weight. (this is fact not opinion). The reason some people lose weight is simply, they eat less "FREE FOOD" than someone follwing the system and not gaining the intended results.
THE TRUTH - Any sucessfull weight/fat loss stratergy should use calories at the core of it by controlling the following factor.
Calorie intake ✅ Protein intake ✅ Exericse ✅ Non exercise activity ✅
Will allow an indivdual to create a calorie deficit, SW does not control any of those factors.
TRACKING PROGRESS
SW - A weekly weigh in which is about as accurate as having a stranger guess you weight.
Why?
The following factors will effect your weight at any given time. None of which SW take into account.
⚫Time of day ⚫Carbs eaten on that day ⚫Carbs eaten the day before ⚫Water intake ⚫Food in digestion system ⚫Have you poo'ed or not ⚫Stress ⚫Inflamation ⚫Medical conditions ⚫Salt intake ⚫Medication ⚫Sleep ⚫Stress levels ⚫Menstrual cycle
So is using a once per week weigh in at 6.15pm on a Tuesday night going to be an accurate reflection on your progress?
THE TRUTH
Using weight alone is a pretty inaccurate way to judge progress however it is a factor to gauge progress when used in conjuction with other methods.
The correct way to use weight as a measurement tool is to take weight daily and use the average over the week, this will allow for less discrepency.
Make sure you its.
Fasted when you wake up ✅ After your morning wee ✅ Naked ✅
Then use monthly body measurements and progress photos to get a full picture of what progress you actually making.

Nutrition - Food Diaries 🍱
Keeping a food diary or journal is useful for educating you on how much you actually eat in a day.
It can be an eye opening experience that acts as a key ingredient in creating positive dietary changes. Becoming aware of how your body reacts to certain foods and how they make you feel is an integral part of finding the best ‘diet’ for you.
... One size does not fit all, we are all different and have different requirements and you need to get in tune with what works for you.
When it comes to changing your body composition, there is plenty of evidence that keeping track of daily food and calorie intake is one of the most effective ways to change behavior.
The magic in just writing what you eat down tends to automatically make people think & make better choices with their food.
There are many different methods you can use to keep a food diary, an old fashioned pen & pad is perfect for the job and there are apps like Myfitnesspal that have a huge database of foods to make tracking your food easier just by scanning a barcode or searching for it.
✅ Write out what you plan to eat before eating it. This isn’t for everyone but it can be a useful tip.
✅Track the times that you eat, you may also add what your mood was before eating and your location. This helps you to understand your eating patterns & possible food triggers.
✅Make a note of your serving sizes. i.e 1 palm size portion of chicken, 1 teaspoon olive oil, 30g cashews.
✅ Be honest. We can only help if you’re honest with us.
✅ Consistency. Do it every day for a bare minimum of 3 days. We have found those who track more get better results.
✅ Start reading food labels. This helps to educate you on serving sizes & what calories foods contain. After doing this for a period of time you will become good at eyeballing foods, which comes in handy for eating on the go or meals out.
✅Include all drinks, if you have sugar/cream/syrups in your coffee include it.
