First Steps Nursery Handsworth

The background behind First Steps is to implement primary academic teachings from a very early age and by raising the standards of childcare we are confident that a child will stand on good merit prior to reception school entry.

First Steps opened in February 2013 and it occupies a secure secluded spacious and fully
refurbished building set back from the main roads which provides full & part time workshops for a
maximum of 33 children between the ages of 3 months to 5 years.

Children are learning all the time and we regard it as our obligation to provide them with the
best possible opportunity to learn and develop. We strongly believe that a Child’s development
during the ages of 3 months to 5 years is as important than at Primary school level and with our
educational approach, we believe that you will see a improvement within their every day life.

Within our detailed designed rooms, they are bright, airy and stimulating environments in which
your child will be relaxed and inspired. The rooms take in a variety of activity areas including roleplay,
science and discovery, construction, art, wet play and literacy. The outdoor is a secure and
well planned landscaped area comprising a large covered outdoor class area, lawn, cabins, play
equipment and grow patch area. We have a external stage area with seating, ball and sand pits,
bird and vegetable boxes. Plenty to exercise your Child’s mind.

We take great responsibility in care, as all activities are carefully risk-assessed through internal
and external Health and Safety consultants. All staff follows a continual programme of training, all
rooms and site are monitored by CCTV cameras.
