πŸ“Ÿ Callouts 39 & 40/2019 πŸ“Ÿ Two taskings today, firstly this afternoon to an injured teenager on the beach, who had been collected by parents before we arrived, then again this evening to reports of persons in the water off Battery Point. When we arrived on scene, together with Littlestone Lifeboat Station all persons were safe and accounted for, either on land or back in the RHIB. We spoke to the owner and confirmed all was now well.

Come and stand in memory Of men who fought and died They gave their lives in Normandy Remember them with pride.
... Soldiers, Airman, sailors Airborne and marines Who in civvy life were tailors and men who worked machines.
British and Canadian And men from USA Forces from the Commonwealth They all were there that day
To Juno, Sword and Utah Beaches of renown Also Gold and Omaha That’s where the ramps went down.
The battle raged in Normandy Many lives were lost The war must end in victory And this must be the cost
When my life is over And I reach the other side I’ll meet my friends from Normandy And shake their hands with pride.

πŸ“Ÿ Jobs 31, 32, 33 & 34/2019 πŸ“Ÿ Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd June - we've had a busy weekend with 2 casualty extractions, one tasking to assist Kent Police with searching for a missing person in the Folkestone area and finally providing safety cover during the recovery of a van and jetski stuck in the mud in Folkestone harbour yesterday evening. The video shows Rescue Helicopter 163 in the Warren extracting our casualty on Saturday evening - we wish them a speedy recovery. Attended by ourselves, Kent Police, UKBF and Littlestone Lifeboat Station we found two persons fishing in a RHIB. After checking all was in order and offering some advice about wearing lifejackets and carrying a means of calling for help if needed we returned to station then home in search of breakfasts .....

This morning some of the team attended Camber sands for a sand hole collapse exercise with our Coastal staff, Dungeness Coastguard, RNLI Lifeguards and East Sussex Fire and Rescue. We learnt how and where to dig safely to locate and rescue casualties under the sand, and then practiced on various buried dummies. It was good to work with other agencies and enhance our skill set, and play with some sandcastles too.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mums who support us so we can rush off when the pagers sound and who brought us up to decide to be Coastguards. After a busy week of training, more training and 2 shouts some of the team were out this morning with our Station Officer/Coastguard 'Mum' for a patrol. She bought us all drinks and made sure we were warm enough wrapped up in the Cafe's blankets.....

This weekend 4 of the team attended 2 days of rope rescue training at Margate with our Area Commander, AC08 and Sussex SCOO, S08D, to train as Rope Rescue Operators and Technicians. A great weekend was had by all and we're glad to have them back to the team with some bruises and most importantly new skills - well done all of you on the hard work and effort you've put into this!

Two years ago tonight Captain Dara Fitzpatrick, Captain Mark Duffy, Winchman CiarΓ‘n Smith and Winch Operator Paul Ormsby set out on task on Irish Coastguard Rescue 116, and were tragically lost in the early hours of the 14th March. Always remembered as part of our Coastguard family, never to be forgotten.
