In October 2019, we were kindly invited to assist with the recreation of a historical photo of the "Belgian Refugee Landing" from WW1. The original painting is by an Italian artist, Fredo Franzoni, who himself came to our town as a refugee in one of the boats from Belgium. If you want to learn a little bit more, we invite you to watch the amazing video put together by Glen Davis and aerial shots taken by ViDi Air.

Please keep an eye out for this slightly injured seal in the Hythe area. If you see him, please keep your distance, keep dogs on leads and notify RSPCA Folkestone of his location.

15/12 - 09:00 - Callout to a runaway house in folkestone harbour. Upon arrival it was found that the house (which was part of a triennial art exhibition) had come free from its mooring and found its way towards the east pier.
Rescue crew spent the day securing and winching the house up the beach so that it could be safely lifted out of the harbour by crane.
As of 16:30 we can confirm that the house is now safely out of the harbour temporarily until arrangements can be made to re-attach it to its original location.

Lest We Forget......
On this day we shall take time to remember all those who have fallen for our country and sacrificed so much in doing so. With that we would thank all the men and women who have lost their lives for us with the ultimate sacrifice.
Also to the men and women in the emergency services who have also lost their lives in the line of duty helping those in need.
... Lest We Forget.

05/11 07:38 Callout to capsized boat in the harbour. On inspection, it was found the boat was aground and could not be righted at the time. Once the tide had gone out, and under the boat owner's instruction, the boat was winched upright and we left the scene at 11:20.

03/11 - 2nd night time call out for Folkestone Rescue in Folkestone Harbour.
Task 1 -13:30 - The Lifeguard team had been called out mid afternoon to a yacht which had come adrift, we temporarily secured it and waited for the tide to go out.
Task 2 - 20:30 - The Lifeguard team returned when the tide had receded and successfully re-secured the yacht to its mooring after a strop appeared to have come loose.
... We were kindly assisted by the boat owners and confirmed no damage to the vessel so a happy ending all round.

Busy evening for the crew in Folkestone Harbour.
Task 1 - Towed one boat around the correct way so it could be re-secured to its mooring after breaking free in the bad weather earlier.
Task 2 - Re-secure another boat to its mooring after one of its strops broke in the bad weather.
... Task 3 - Recover a huge piece of wood which had arrived in the harbour during the bad weather; this had to be towed out of the harbour using the 4X4.
Task 4 - Secure tender which had broken free from part of its mooring in the inner harbour.
The good news is that there was no actual damage to any craft from the bad weather and the forecast is getting better over the next few days.
