Work starts Friday on a complete refurb’ and thought you might enjoy the progress. I’m having the door way and little wall in to the back taken down. All the tiles ripped out, walls re-plastered and re-tiled. Skirting all has to come off, sink out and replaced. New floor, new windows, new fitted service area, all new furniture. Big old spruce up and malarkey xx

Well, that didn't take as long as I expected.

This is wonderful....xx

Well the flood was just a giggle apparently!? It goes without saying I've absolutely no idea when I'll be able to re-open. But, rest assured I will be.
My feelings now are we ALL of us need to do better than we are. It's easy for me to stay out the way, I don't have kids, don't need to go to work, stock pile and all the rest. But, this is not an extended Bank Holiday it is very, very serious. Please use your common sense during all of this and absolutely call people out on their foolish behaviour "offence" never killed anyone, their stupidity just might.
I wish all of you the very best and I promise you. Our opening will be a party to remember :) So, please keep safe...Gil xxx

Building work will begin next week and likely take 6 weeks :) So, I hope you're all well and urge that you remember the food banks as they're suffering due to the stock piling. If you can afford to stock pile, you can certainly afford to help those that can't and need it most. I was able to buy 13 Antibacterial hand wash yesterday. Kept two and gave the rest away to friends, family and elderly neighbours. Please think about what you can do to help others. Keep well xx

The generosity shown since The flood has been absolutely remarkable and the thing that's surprised me most is the affection shown from the most unexpected quarters. This morning I received this.
"Dear Gil, hope you will be opening again. So here is something to make you smile and to help get you open again, because I really care xx From Eva aged 9 (nearly 10)"
Among the delights in the care package you'll note the contents of a money box. It's very easy to believe that you d...on't make a difference, and particularly as you get older, it's easy to feel yourself surplus to requirements and perhaps even invisible, particularly to the young. I can't tell you how all this has made me feel, I've been gifted well in excess of three thousand pounds, a lot of money and I'm extremely grateful.
I intend to enjoy my evening on lock down, content and full of naughties. Thank you Eva, Sister, Mummy, Daddy and Flossie the hound xx

Starting to get some dates in the diary now for the necessary work and assuming things go to plan, I'm hoping we'll be able to re-open early May. However, I'll know more as the work progresses. Many thanks, Gil x

We were hosting a Quiz tomorrow night in The Queens Head, but having to cancel. So, will postpone until April. Apologies if you were coming along x

Hi, just an update :) I'm afraid progress is slow. As things are drying out, the damage continues to show and so there's no quick fix to this. I'm in talks with the landlord, insurers and various contractors and as yet, no dates in the diary for anyone to come and make repairs. It's simply too early in the day to confirm anyone. So, as I know more I'll keep you posted and again, to all of those that have offered words of support, encouragement and made donations. Your thoughts and kindness are very much appreciated. If you'd like to share the post, please feel free to do so. Thank you. Gil x

If you'd like to join us next Thursday at the pub we're having another quiz. Hope to see you there x

If you haven't seen this already xx

A massive thank you to you all for your incredible kindness these last days. I have literally had hundreds and hundreds of well wishes. People dropping in heaters, dehumidifiers, coming in to help clean, popping down to say hello, offer help and advice. Local Councillors calling in, Wyre Forest Councillors, emailing and calling me. Friends and family and total strangers from across the Globe, offering love and even people donating their very hard earned money!!?? It's quite e...xtraordinary. I will reply to all those individually at the first opportunity, so please do not feel that I'm not aware of what's happening. I'm simply navigating my way through it all. I think like so many I forget the small stuff. But, I can't tell you how big this all is to me and how your kindness is helping. It all feels so manageable and enables me to keep smiling in my marigolds, while stinking of? Did I mention the Elephant? ;) xxx

We're now CLOSED for the foreseeable future and so I'll keep you posted. I'm dealing with Environmental Health, assessors, contractors, Wyre Forest, flood malarkey, underwriters and The Elephant on Blue Peter that took a sh*t around tea time. Yes, I'm that Zoo Keeper. So, once more, thank you for all the support and when I'm able to open again, you'll all be the first to know. Lots of love, Gil and the team xxx

This eventually happened 👎 So, Today I walked in to quiet the mess. There’s a lot of damage to equipment and stock. Lots off to landfill. But, we’ve made a great start clearing it all up and hope to have most of it completed by tomorrow. Currently without a phone line and of course apologies to those who’ve booked for tomorrow. Thank you again for all the support, those that turned up to loan equipment and help clean or just offer a kind word. It’s made all the difference and left me feeling quite calm about it all. Will keep you posted. Gil xx

So, here we are then 👎🌂🐠

Just an update to let you know that we won't be able to open tomorrow. Again, we were fully booked. But, I think I've let everyone know. The sheds are all under water. Fridges, Freezers, stock and malarkey all lost and It's now tapping on my front door in the alley. BUT so far the Tea Room is dry. Barriers and sand bags all in place and now we wait. The water is getting higher and forecast not the best. However, a huge thank you to all those that have sent messages of support and It really is very much appreciated. Unfortunately, it's a waiting game. Please keep ya fingers crossed and I'll keep your posted. Gil xx
