I can honestly say that's the best meal I've had in ages. Incredible value. Now have table service. So pleased we came back. Definitely recommend.

Nice clean and fresh as soon as you walk in ... staff are happy and helpful .. like the idea of being served at the table .. gives it that more cosy feel .. quality of food is so much better .. yes we waited but was to be expected with the chicken burger being made to order ..

Visited here on Wednesday evening. Refurb is fantastic. Looks really good. Sadly when we were seated we were not told it was nearly an hour wait for food!! Just popped out for a "quick" tea with kids! We were really patient as it was all new and fairly busy, but after what seemed like nearly an hour, we asked where are food was. The waiters response when he came out of kitchen was.... actually you haven't been waiting an hour, it's only 41 minutes!! Well, that's ok thenпњљпњљ15 minutes later food arrived, and I must say it was an improvement on what it was before. I understand that it was fairly busy, but some sort of apology or acknowledgement from management would have been appreciated

Shame they ran out of dippy donuts from the kids menu. Evident our server was doing the best he could. Service needs to be slicker. We will come again as the beer garden looks nice but not for food shame as we would love a well run local.

Where do I start,,,, every customer was вАЬmateвАЭ вАЬmateyвАЭ or вАЬbabвАЭ! Would I like a glass with my bottle? yes! as its clearly for my wife, unless she drinks pints of Guinness. Ordered drinks at the bar, not given any menus. Ordered food, 40 mins before another customer, came 10 mins after theirs. вАЬwould I like the childвАЩs dessert now?вАЭ errrr no, lets wait till heвАЩs had his main, stick with tradition. I know its reopened and refurbished but the staff fall short in personal skills and warmness. Eating crisps or maybe sweets behind the bar is the worst advert in my opinion. Guinness was thin and not well kept but is it ever in these types of pubs. The sad part is that the food was good, starters were tasty and well presented, the pie wasnвАЩt great and the portions are small. We will try again at some point but needs time to gel into a working pub, maybe too many new starters on one shift

Went there last night for a big family meal, refurb looks good, staff seemed ok too...the prices for the food were extortionate for what we were served! Looked and tasted like a microwave meal пњљ definitely not worth the money! Staff mixed up the food order and by the time they had realised the person had eaten it leaving my sister with the wrong order..when trying to rectify the bill after their cock up, the staff started arguing about who would sort it out like a couple of kids in front of my sister and the rest of the restaurant..highly unprofessional, food was crap! Definitely wonвАЩt be going here again!

Well I'm off home now for some more food! Portion sizes are tiny, the food was ok. I had finished my new york burger and about 6 chips in 2 minutes flat. Shame its changed from a hungry horse.

Thought weвАЩd try new refurbed Oxon (wasnвАЩt pleased last time we visited some time ago - remember a rat in the garden wandering about next to the children, tables incredibly sticky and dirty) Had roast dinner this time. Garden lovely for the children, waiting time fine, but food very over-priced and only just edible - ¬£12.99 main course - I would guess mostly microwaved - and spoilt. Very tasteless and very soggy roast potatoes, unpleasantly tasteless broccoli/carrots/peas/beans, very soggy Yorkshire puddings, beef tasteless and chewy, even gravy thick but gloopy. Chicken (microwaved?) not eaten even by ravenous children! Disinterested service. Come on Oxon - youвАЩve got a lovely venue and garden but the food needs improving - really not good value for money - it could all be so nice with a bit better prep/cooking!! IвАЩm not too much of a fussy eater - but I go to pubs with carveries under ¬£10 for 2 courses that have better food.

The food was ok but the service was awful пњљ we arrived and got barked at by a man at the door as we hadn't booked! Same man then told us it was over an hour wait on food and when we said ok he then huffed and begrudgingly showed us to a table.

We waited 25 mins for someone to take our order then another 30 minutes for a drink which the waitress asked us 3 times for as she had forgotten. Food arrived before our drinks, which was actually nice food. We then gave up waiting for our sons pudding as we had been there for almost 2 hours total and nobody had been over to us. We then had to find someone so we could actually pay the bill! Don't think we will be going back anytime soon which is a shame.

Refurb looks lovely, shame about the wait on food. I get that itвАЩs recently re opened think management need to stop being greedy and turn people away( maybe with a free drinks voucher for next time as good will gesture) as to help manage waiting times as we waited for ages to get served a drink and then food. Food was your average pub grub you get what you pay for, we will try again in the future!

No steaks and no gammon..... good start! Took 45 mins for food to come which was ok but had obviously stood a while. Felt for the staff who obviously donвАЩt have the backing of the kitchen. WonвАЩt be going back in a hurry!!

Food okay - you get what you pay for! Service poor. Long wait to be served and it seemed as though the pub was desperately short of staff; the waitress that served us appeared to running the place on her own. 45 minutes from walking in and finally getting our first course was not really good enough, especially as there were not many customers.

1st visit since refurb. Disappointed. Nice inside. Staff friendly but the food letвАЩs it down. Steak was as tough as leather. ( finger in mouth job to pull it apart!!!) not one to make a fuss but sadly not as happy as we used to be. Will be finding a new local I am afraid

Well where do I start. Wait for main meal was 45-50 minutes place was empty so donвАЩt understand on the wait. We had to then go and ask to order our pudding which then waited another 30-40 mins for some ice cream which when it finally came out they didnвАЩt even bother to clear our table!

Terrible, terrible service. Was shown to a table and told that someone would be with us in a minute to take a drink order. 10 minutes later still no service, and when they finally came to take n order and told them we were leaving the girl did not apologise!! All staff were stood in a huddle talking rather than seeing to customers. Very disappointed as loved this place before it was refurbed.

So today I Decide to embark on adventure with 3 of my dearest friends, after finding ourselves rather famishing we searched far and wide on the вАШWorld Wide WebвАЩ to find somewhere in the proximity of our surroundings to sit and feast! This fine establishment (so we thought), came up on the results so we all agreed. 5:30pm On arrive were greeted and tended to by a a friendly face on the bar, I order 2nd, as most people do we all ordered to the same table for the cuisine to come out all at once. Being as this day was a sunny one we thought sitting out side would be acceptable to catch the last of the sun for todayвАЩs period. Around about 6:00pm the first plate came to hither followed by the second and third baring but no fourth? This was mine. The nice women who served my friends their food did ask if everything was ok I replied where is my feast? She replied IвАЩll shall go get it for you sir. To this reply I looked back and continued our influential and intelligent conversation that was going on not thinking much about what the lovely woman said. 6:30pm the cuisine was complete but still I sat and waiting for my meal so I asked a fellow passing barman and he said it was not put through on the system. I returned to the bar with my receipt and had my meal refunded. We all feel the meals were poor and tasteless so we shall not return to the place and make aware to others.

ItвАЩs tough (like the steak that I asked to be cooked blue) to give friendly and hard working team this rating when thereвАЩs hardly any staff on, even on a quiet Tuesday and it was steady trade by the looks of it. One guy told me he started at 9am, had been buzzing around all day and hadnвАЩt even had a break! This review is towards the management. The team get 5 stars in my book.

First and last time we have tried it , the pub was clearly understaffed .We werenвАЩt aware of a delay in the kitchen , so service took 38 minutes, we werenвАЩt asked if we wanted condiments , fries were over cooked or possibly refried so sent back. Nobody checked if our meal was ok and nobody asked when we paid . Not all the staffs faults as manning was clearly below par to the size of the pub but it has made my mind up never to eat or drink here again.
