A really busy day today, tree planting, swimming safety sessions, the enterprise 'schools for the future' competition final and our 'this is your life' assembly with special guests.
Dancing has been great today, each year group had learnt about a different decade from our 50 yrs and performed a song and dance. Yrs 4 & 6 have taken part in a Lord Leivers enterprise competition - Design a school for 50years in the future. The infants have had an afternoon with Q3 sports leaders. Another good day.

1960s Day has been a huge success, staff and children all dressed in 60s costumes and we had a very special assembly this morning when we welcomed Margaret Wickham to school. Margaret was the first head of the infants school when it opened in 1963. She was thrilled to be back at school and very impressed by the people she met and everything she saw. Margaret answered questions posed by some of the children to give the whole school a flavour of what it was like in 1963 as school opened for the first time. She declared Grove Vale to be 'very' outstanding and wished us all well for the rest of the week.
50 golden balloons released today, by nominated children and some staff, to mark the start of our celebrations.
So we are finally here... Celebrations week begins tomorrow. If you would like to immortalise your name as a Grove Vale pupil, why not donate a book to our school library (it doesn't need to be new) and inscribe your name with dates you attended inside the cover.
Last minute preparations for our celebrations week, staff are showing once again, what makes us Outstanding. Now lets sit back and enjoy the week, we deserve it!
