Went with my friend as we are starting sewing again - fantastic place girls in shop helped us chose pattern, fabric & everthing else we needed - nothing to much trouble we will be back when weve made our skirts !!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) lovley shop x

Visited the shop today and what a lovely shop it is. The staff were lovely and really helpful. I ended up buying some material with a bold but simple flower design on it and a skirt pattern.... the first skirt i will ever have made, lets hope it looks as nice made as it does in my imagination :-)

The ‘getting to know your sewing machine’ session with Claire was really useful. I can’t wait to start making things!

Received my lovely fabric today thank you. Jo, Rosie and Meg were really helpful and friendly. I live in an area where there are no fabric shops so rely on ordering online. I will certainly be ordering from you in the future and next time we are in Birmingham will call in to the shop

I've recently been on the piped cushion cover workshop with Claire. I would recommend the class to anyone considering it. Fair price which included fabric. Lovely to leave the workshop with you own masterpiece at the end of session!

I'm now more confident with invisible zips. We also learnt how to add piping on cushions - looks great! Claire was just fantastic - very patient and full of great advice. Thank you.

I went on the baby and girls dressmaking workshop today and thoroughly enjoyed it. I can't recommend this workshop enough if you are fairly new to sewing/pattern following. Lauren was the perfect tutor, very informative and patient. I had a lovely day, thank you x

I haven't made anything for a long time so I was really worried about how I would cope! But thanks to Lauren, you helped me to make a lovely dress for my first granddaughter. I'm definitely going to carry on now and will be booking another workshop soon.

I buy fabric frequently- sadly always by post as I am too far away to visit in person. Fabric is always as described, arrives quickly and is obviously packed with care. As I shop from a distance I find it particularly helpful in the fabric description to be told the type of garments the fabric is suitable as this gives me a good idea of the weight and drape. I have used the excellent sample service but have to admit sometimes I am just too impatient! Keep up the good work. x

I attended the workshop yesterday and made the Laurel top. The shop has a great fabric selection, the workshop is a beautiful space with fantastic equipment. Claire who ran the workshop was really friendly and welcoming so I immediately felt at ease. The day flew by and I learnt loads of tips that were incredibly helpful. I never for a minute felt rushed as Claire was very patient and helpful throughout, she is a brilliant teacher. I left with a completed top feeling very chuffed with myself, I would definitely recommend a visit to every level of sewer. I shall return 😀

I attended the Simple Cushion Workshop for Beginners, run by Claire. On arrival, I was impressed when shown the wide selection of high quality fabric to choose from which was a great start. The workshop was was held in a wonderfully light, bright, colourful and airy studio with high tech equipment and resources; a really inspirational environment I thought. Claire was an excellent teacher who clearly had a great deal of experience, yet she made us all feel at ease, explaining each step clearly to the group and giving everyone 1:1 when needed. The pace was spot on and it was a relaxing environment to work in. I was amazed that as an absolute beginner I left with a quality first piece and will definitely attend more workshops to build my confidence.

I attended my first sewing workshop a few years back and I was thrilled with the quality of the tuition. The shop is gorgeous and a wonderful place to mooch about the fabric and notions. Wonderful staff and happy, creative vibes throughout.

Had a lovely day making a stretchy Zadie dress. Enough challenge from the pattern for the more experienced but simple enough to actually sew so that beginners could easily take part. Claire was as clear and helpful as ever, my fellow participants were lovely company and I was very pleased with the final dress.

Fantastic selection of dress fabrics and patterns. Helpfull, knowledgable staff which is such a bonus.Great sample pieces for many of the patterns. Just wixh it was my local fabric shop :)

As a novice to dressmaking, the staff were so helpful in advising me on suitable fabric and beginners patterns. The fabrics are just gorgeous so the only difficulty I had was choosing one for my project.

Another great class yesterday run by Claire at Guthrie and Ghani. After attending the simple top class a month ago, I signed up for the You Chose the Top. Claire really is a very patient teacher, especially when you have someone like me going "Claire, have you got a moment...".



Now signed up for the Sewing with Jersey class. No stopping me now! :-)

5/5 for workshops with Layla - I'm currently on my second workshop dressmaking with plans to book more with Layla (first workshop was glittery sequin top). Great teacher who is direct, attentive, patient and so encouraging. I've already learnt so much and I am eager to learn more.



3/5 for the shop - it is expensive and often I find the range isn't there or fabrics have been sold out. Beautiful and unique fabrics but would like to see more darker coloured patterns. Other than that, very helpful staff and overall a lovely looking store.
