It didn't take Buddy long to find the warmest place in the house.

Father Christmas getting stuck isn't the only reason for getting your chimney swept. The are still 30,000 chimney fires which spoil the Christmas experience.

Boys and girls worked as a chimney sweeps for over 200 years since the Great Fire of London on 2nd September 1666, and they rarely lived past middle age. Efforts were made through the years to put an end to the cruel practice of using child chimney sweeps, but they failed until 1875. The death of 12-year-old chimney sweep George Brewster became the catalyst which finally pushed through legislation that outlawed the cruel practice. George Brewster became stuck in one of the chimneys in Fulbourn Hospital. His master, William Wyer, was responsible for sending George into that situation. A wall had to be torn down to free George. He died a short time later. Wyer was charged and found guilty of manslaughter. George Brewster was the last child chimney sweep in England to die in a chimney.

Victorian Chimney Sweeps were as young as 3.They were ideal as their tiny size was just right for going down the narrow chimney stacks.Falling was a major fear or getting stuck,but bosses helped by underfeeding them to keep them thin allowing them to continue till 9 or 10. I don't use children but a power sweeping system,although he does look quite happy.
