Group company secretary and office manager Joanne Austin oversees the day-to-day running of the practice, managing an enthusiastic team of administrative staff and allocating resources to maximise efficiency.
At Howards we reward achievement and thanks to a policy of promoting from within whenever possible, several employees who joined the firm as trainees now hold responsible management positions. In the latest round of promotions we were delighted to appoint Rachael Wilson, Joe Dimambro and Chris Glue as managers within the business, whilst Jenna Hands, Rachel Sawbridge and Simon Parnell have been promoted to assistant manager roles. #accountant #growth #success http://ow.ly/4fDE50pSVfx
Happy Easter to all of our customers. Have an egg-cellent day!
Our MD Matt Bailey is preparing to brave April showers as he trains for the Asda Foundation Derby Half Marathon and bids to raise £5,000 for the UK's leading brain cancer charity, a cause close to his heart. Matt has dusted off his running shoes and is teaming up with his cousin, Victoria Burchell, to fundraise for The Brain Tumour Charity. They will be running in memory of Simeon Bennett - Victoria's brother and Matt's cousin - who sadly died from a gioblastoma brain tumour three years ago. By raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity, we hope that further research into high risk brain tumours will find more answers and help to provide a better outlook for people diagnosed with brain cancer and their families. http://ow.ly/d5Qg30oiqCO
We are growing! Delighted to promote high-performing staff who have enabled us to capitalise on year-on-year improved business performance. Nick Archer is now our senior manager. As well as helping a wide range of companies to make sound commercial decisions, Nick has business development responsibilities, which include the ongoing improvement of client services. Well done Nick! #businessgrowth #investment
You still have time to sign up for MTD. Remember your staging date, and submit your last legacy VAT return in the usual way. MTD for VAT will apply for the first full VAT period that starts on or after 1 April 2019, and depends on your staging date. If you submit digitally before this, you may not be able to submit at all. It may even be as late as October until to you need to take action. Listen to what Clive Boult at Howards advises. #MTD #tax #accountant
The 2019/20 tax year brings good news for the majority of adult workers. Changes to the rules governing pension auto enrolment mean that employers will make a bigger contribution to their employees' private pensions, effectively handing their workforce a pay rise'. This applies to workers aged 22 or over and earning at least £10,000 a year, who will gain by saving more for retirement, as employers contributions increases to 3%. However employees will also have to pay more as their contribution rises from 3% to 5% of salary. http://ow.ly/2KQy30oiqCP
HMRC are putting out some useful guidance for preparing for a no deal EU Exit. Whilst leaving the EU with a deal remains the government’s top priority. In the event the UK leaves the EU without a deal, UK businesses, importing or exporting goods with the EU, will need to take key steps to continue trading with EU businesses. HMRC's live webinar will help you to find out what you need to know to keep imports and exports up to speed including: why it’s important to apply for an Economic Operator Registration and Identification number (EORI); what Transitional Simplified Procedures are; how to prepare to make customs declarations; what Entry Summary Declarations are; how to pay the correct customs duty and VAT. So pleased to #sponsor teenager Evie Waring and have the Howards logo on her race kit. Her race season starts in May, she has two events; Spartan St Clere and then Spartan Ireland at the end of May. The whole season is being tailored around success in America at Spartan Worlds so that she peaks at the right time. Her first couple of races will be in the Spartan Age Group Series for the UK & Ireland to earn points rather than podium as she has already secured her qualifications for this year’s Championship events. Her first major Championship is in Poland in June for the OCR European Championships. Wish her luck! #Sport #Accountants #Obstaclecourseracing
Our client,Steve Glover, of @StaffordSport was inspired by the kindness of @khhospice and is planning to add the Yorkshire 3 Peaks and Everest Base Camp to his achievements to raise thousands for the hospice #charity #fundraising #accountant
Did you know? Claiming #ChildBenefit can fill in gaps in your National Insurance record and help you to build up your state #pension entitlement. We urge you to claim Child Benefit to protect your pension entitlement because you can opt out if affected by HICBC and restart the payment if your circumstances change
For each year that a parent claims #ChildBenefit the NI credits awarded provide a qualifying year towards state pension entitlement. A parent of one child could lose 12 qualifying years, which amounts to one third of the years needed to receive the full state pension. HMRC statistics show that more than 200,000 parents are affected and will have lost some or all of their state pension entitlement.
In January 2016 our MD Matt Bailey lost his cousin Simeon Bennett to a gioblastoma brain tumour. Matt is now dusting off his running shoes and on June 9 will take part in the #DerbyHalfMarathon to fundraise for The Brain Tumour Charity. Don’t forget to file form CT61 and pay corporation tax by 14th April if you intend to claim back Income Tax interest, alternative finance payments, manufactured payments from abroad and tax on relevant distributions for the quarter ending 31 March 2019. #tax #accounts #business
The #NationalLivingWage, paid to employees aged 25 and over, is increasing from £7.83 to £8.21 per hour from 1 April 2019, and there are changes to #NationalMinimumWage levels too #business #accountants #employers http://ow.ly/XWqZ50onir3
