Went for a family Birthday meal, Friendly and Welcoming, service was quick, considering that it was busy. Even put a candle on the wifes pudding which was unexpected and fun !! Thanks all at the Cuckoo �

We recently moved into shropshire and came across the cuckoo oak. My husband and I decided to try it for Sunday lunch. We was not disappointed. The food was fresh, hot and arrived at our table without too much of a wait. We returned today for the 2nd time and met with same great service. Thankyou. �

We had a lovely meal and then stayed on for the entertainment. Anthony Stones was great will definitely come along again next time he's there. :)

Visited the cuckoo oak for a family meal and was amazed with the staff, the food and the value. A staff member greeted us upon arrival and showed us to a table we ordered our starters and mains and they arrived promptly pipping hot and tasted great so good we couldn’t resist trying the dessert. Highly recommend will be returning for more family gatherings.

Thank you very much for the gift card for my friend who is fund raising for a prosthetic arm we used it in a raffle last night and raised £120 it was very much appreciated

Haven't been here for a long time as past visits were appalling. Tonight. Was brilliant. Staff friendly and professional. Not a long wait for food and fresh and hot when it arrived. Restaurant and tables clean. Total turn around from previous visits. Excellent

Food wasn’t very hot but was dealt with very well by the manager on duty Holly so we left very happy.

Been 4 times in January food fab each time with decent size portions. Can be very busy but

Went yesterday for family meal for son's 50.my daughter and myself had steak mine was over cooked and both very tough. We were given our sweet as compensation service was a little slow otherwise OK.

I brought my aunt for lunch yesterday, it was early and quiet, young lad on the bar, name badge - Bradley, took my order and was generally pleasant! Our lunch was brought out relatively quickly, if ordered the steak salad with a side of coleslaw for a extra 99p, that was definitely not worth the extra, a measly teaspoon full in the smallest bowl I’ve ever seen! Food was good although could of done with a steak knife! Once the food was brought out, no one came and asked if everything was ok, I thought this was standard in a restaurant?? The young girl that was “waiting on” (don’t know name as nobody, other than Bradley, was wearing name badges! She looked like she wanted to be anywhere else but there! The ladies that sat at the table next to us even commented on her demeanour! I also ordered two coffees at the bar, paid for them and went and sat back down, (I didn’t want to leave my elderly aunt for any longer than I had to!) I waited and waiting and no one brought them over, when I asked the young girl with no name, she said I had to walk to the bar to order them, I told her I’d already ordered them so she went to find out and appeared a few minutes later with 2 mugs of Luke warm coffee! I do like this place but I think your younger members of staff need to have a bit of customer based training!!

Had medium steak chips etc. Steak was well done fatty and gristle all through ( good gob I had my own teeth as took a lot of chewing. ) hubby had jumbo cod chips mushy peas . Tasted good but stone cold peas and batter a bit undercooked but apart from that not to bad. Told waiter but didn't complain ( not worth it as would have ended up eating separate times . It was his birthday meal and first visit. May try again just to see if it improves.

Food is amazing can’t fault but I’m sorry when I wanna speak to the manager about something I expect the manager. Not just bar staff or waiting on staff to tell me info I wanted to know shame. Shows lack of customer service could have been a mystery diner.

Eat here regularly with my wife, it is a very nice pub, food is usually very nice and good value, although service can sometimes be slow. Called in on Wednesday at 8:45 pm. for a meal to be told they have closed the kitchen as they were not busy.They should serve food serve food till 10:00 pm. Very disappointed as we had not eaten. To be fair management were very responsive when I messaged them and have taken steps to ensure it will not happen again.

Ordered an 8 oz rump, medium rare. It arrived as two over cooked pieces. As I was very hungry, I decided to keep and eat it. When the waitress came over after about 5 minutes, to be fair, she did offer to return it to the kitchen. My point is that if you aren't able to provide what the customer has ordered, don't ask them how they'd like their steak cooked in the first place. Very disappointed �

Just come back from having a meal with my husband. He had curry & said it was ok. I ordered rump steak medium/well with no chips or peas & a side salad. My meal come out with cremated steak, warm salad & peas! The manager took it back for me & was apologetic. My husband finished his meal then we both sat & waited for mine, when it arrived the salad was nice but the steak was very well done (I couldn't chew it). I did inform staff who asked if I wanted it sent back again, I refused obviously. I was then offered a free pudding (I'm on a diet) or a free drink (I was drinking water). This is not the first bad meal we have experienced here. Shame because when its nice, its really nice but the bad meals are starting to outshine the good ones! I even took a photo of how much steak I had to leave because it was inedible, didn't even bring it home for our dog!!

Attended a family meal here tonight ordered a med rare sirloin with came out well done. I asked if I could have a replacement which they sent out a med rare rump instead. By this time most of the table had finished there meals so said I would keep the rump as didn't want to hold everyone else up. Overall not impressed with the food only good thing was the waiter was helpful.

Went to the cuckoo oak to night for a meal when we got it both meals were burnt so I asked the waitress to take it back and ask for it to be sorted out she told me the chief said it was charcoal cooked so I said I didn't ask for my meals to be burnt so I told them to get the manager or re cook the meals so they did do the meal and then the waitress smirk as she kept walking past us and now I am at home being sick so I am ringing the manager tomorrow as they obviously put something in my meal so to any one going to the cuckoo oak please be aware the staff don't give a shit about their customers and the service they provide.

Don't usually complain about food. Had a quadzilla yesterday evening 5th November. Burnt to a crisp with a slice of processed cheese on it. I've been to hungry horse Southwater plenty of times and the food always good standard. When you pay 12quid for a burger you expect a lot better.
