Review on Hungry Horse Gatehouse in Wolverhampton. I’m a regular pub goer so to find an establishment with a fresh atmosphere, maintained by lovely staff with a will to sort any issue out. The food was great, you can’t exactly exaggerate a pub meal but everything was cooked properly, which from previous experience with pubs there’s always one mistake! I also enjoyed the idea of events, I vaguely remember a pool competition and I think that’s what breaks the mould when it comes to creating a perfect pub atmosphere. A 5* from me and hopefully this establishment gets the credit it deserves.

Food is great value, staff very polite and plenty of places to sit indoor and outdoor even a playground for family's

But I think the pub quiz night is rigged I come every Monday and always lose. staff are nice as well Jonathan with the beard is hilarious

Went yesterday with my mom and brother we hadn't booked thought we would have to wait a while has it was father's day but they soon found a table we all had the Sunday roast came quickly and we all enjoyed it mom had the jam roly poly but didn't like it bit burnt

We visited on 22/12/17 at around 3pm. There was 2 of us and the 2 young disabled men we look After. Some very kind gentlemen opened the doors for us so we could walk the boys through. It was very busy but despite this we managed to get a table, get to the bar and order food easily which arrived fast and was very nice. We ordered puddings and the boys really enjoyed their meals.

Sadly while we were waiting for our food a young mother and her daughter decided to occupy the table to our left. They proceeded to stare at the boys and peer over menus at them before taking it upon themselves to change tables... now our boys are both super handsome, both have cerebral palsy but to catch a glance at them sitting at a table on normal chairs looking at a menu you wouldn’t know...

Last time I checked cerebral palsy, blindness, global developmental delay and autism aren’t contagious. So if you do feel the need to look at them for a prolonged period of time, come over tell them how handsome they are and ask questions if you have them. None of us bite. You won’t catch anything. And you’d probably make their day. So if that woman is reading this, teach your daughter some respect, it’s normal for kids to be curious, it’s normal for them to have questions about disabilities. Don’t hide your kids away from it because they’ll end up with the same awful attitude as you..



Despite that we had a lovely meal and the staff were fantastic we will return in the future hopefully to some more positive attitudes from the customers!!

I’ve frequently visited this venue over the last 5-6 weeks. Although I cannot fault the quality of the food the service leaves something to be desired.

I think the staff were dug up from their graves as they walk round half dead looking gormless and when asked a question they go to find out the answer only to never return.

Mains came out quick & were decent. Dessert never arrived after over an hour from ordering even after speaking to the manager! Terrible service & proper miserable staff.

Food was good service was good. Only bad thing was it was quiz nite and was so noisy the people on the microphones were very loud we couldn’t here each other talk it really spoilt the nite.

Been for lunch today with my sisters. Wasn’t the best meal I’ve had. We had full English breakfast. Bacon was rock hard, sausage was hard to eat. And the egg was solid. Not very happy with service. I Told a member off staff and she said she would tell the chef � but no one came back to me to even apologise.

Service was slow desserts forgot and plates still on my table over an hour later! Really changed and not for the better

Just been for a meal with husband and three grandchildren, main course served very quickly but waited 45 minutes for table to be cleared this was after I had been to bar and asked for desserts that I had already ordered when I first entered the pub. Then I waited about 30 minutes at the bar to pay my bill, I understand that it was busy but 3 people behind the bar on a Saturday night is a joke, and manager very rude when I mentioned this, I had a three year old with me who was getting very tired of waiting. I will be complaining to head office regarding the managers attitude

came for a family meal , on sunday , service was very slow , meals were cold , i had the vegetarian falafel burger the chips were cold , greasy and could not eat them and the burger was also cold , the fish and chip platter was also cold and not complete , no mushy peas or bread and butter , on telling the waitress about the chips on the vegetarian dish she said they are cooked different , and walked away not even collecting our plates , we will not be eating there again , standards were very poor

Very disappointed with the food last night. I am a vegetarian I ordered a 'falafel burger'. I was waiting a long time for my meal and when it did arrive it was a 'pit burger' baring in mind I don't eat meat and I then explained to the waitress that I ordered a falafel burger. The waitress apologised to me and then another waiter came with a 'chicken burger'. By this time I was very annoyed and hungry as all our party had already ate there food. However when my meal finally arrived it was cold and inedible. Another member of my party waited a long time for their sweet had a freezing cold (hot fudge cake). It was explained by the waitress that they were "under staffed and very busy". Not acceptable and will not be returning in the future.

Shocking that things have changed so much, today I went on the day of reopening to find out kids are no longer welcome, not a child friendly place anymore I have been looking forward to the reopening of this place thinking it would be the best refurb ever but wow go greene king you really hit the nail on the head here your pushing all family's away and I'm sure I'm not he only one that has kids that feel or have had there kids feel the same way

Shame such a shame had massive amounts of potential but does terrible in food quality and production and also in the customer service side does terrible not seems to be over watching anything running the staff which are clearly young inexperienced and not trained not having a dig at them as its not there fault they have had no training or very little or anyone overseeing everything

Booked a table for 17 people for a birthday meal. I rang up two weeks later to make sure all was good - they apparently had no record of the booking whatsoever. Was advised that the manager would call me back.



Nada.



A further week on and I’ve not heard a dickie bird.



Clearly they don’t want 17 customers eating and drinking the night away.



Piss-poor service, but luckily I’ve managed to book with a reputable place instead �

After visiting this eatery on the 16th and standing at the bar for at least 30mins to order food and being ignored by the staff (from what I could see they were serving locals that arrived at the bar well after I did) I decided to throw my menu on the bar and walk out, I have email hungry horse direct but had no response so my only option is to post a review on the fb page
