I must be living in a parallel universe as I think the Hussey is a lovely place to eat. My family and I go almost every Sunday. Granted it could probably do with a couple of extra staff behind the bar but when you take into the consideration the sheer volume of customers they get, I think the staff do a marvellous job. My only criticism, and this is nothing to do with the staff, the extension room could do with some sliding blinds like they have at macdonalds to block the sun but not restrict the light. It gets pretty warm in there and the curtains do not draw together. x

meal was nice though i have to say this is the only pub i have been to that though it isn't a carvery they are a bit tight with the mash potatoes very small portion yes they might be two for a tenner but a teaspoon of mash, you need to bring the play area back for the kids i noticed a lot going in to the bushes at the back sadly in this day and age you don't know who is in there, lamb you have to pay over a tenner for yet one of the people i was with works at farmfoods a leg only costs a tenner but should be included in the deal not just beef and chicken, this pub is a potential gold mine in the right hands. on the up side the woman that took my order was as fit as frig lol, turn it into a carvery give ppl the choice most important of all you want to encourage families then you need to keep the kids safe its no good saying its their responsibility, they are kids they want to play, more families more people bigger profit its not rocket science

We had the mixed grill, the chicken had a slime texture and the sausages were awful. Our meals were exchanged halloumi nice but putting salad into a very hot bowl, no not a good idea. Great waitress though

Service is quick, you have to take account of the popularity of The Hussey when it is busy you have to be prepared to wait, the food is always fresh cooked. If you want your meal any faster go to McDonald’s. The beer is great with plenty of choices

Service at the bar slow had to wait ages to be served then food arrived five mins after order which was very quick to be cooked fresh then waitresses quite rude food missing off my sons plate then husbands food was tough not warm either also pudding cold & hard not cooked properly. Bit of a disappointment as it was birthday meal out place looks great shame about the rest think it needs looking at .

Our first visit after refurb expected busy cuz of weather so sat in adult area. Served a rock hard garlic bread starter- this used to be my favourite� waited 30mins for an obviously kept warm main then when asked to put the match on apparently nobody inside could work tv's so we had eastenders & American baseball but footy was on outside?? So gave up & came home... which is rather annoying cuz as a 24/7 carer Thursday night is mine & my hubbies night �

Called to book a table (Friday 13th) for 7 people, was told I didnt need to book and to just turn up, walks in, asked if I’d booked and told the girl I’d called an hour before and was told to just turn up as they don’t take reservations! (Same girl I spoke to on the phone) To then be told I may not get a table, looking around there were tables with “reserved” signs on, I asked how they were reserved to be told that they were booked via telephone??! Now forgive me if I’m wrong but you either take booking or you don’t?? The questions I asked the more the girl was stumbling with her ridiculous answers!! Anyway, finally sat down after ordering, food came, no garlic bread, told the waitress, she wonders off to apparently get it, 10 mins later I can see her wandering around doing nothing much, I ask another waitress and she gets it within a minute, customer service skills are something to be desired!!! Nice pint of Peroni though�

Some of the servers were trying their best but when its busy this place falls apart. I stood waiting to order food while at least 5 members of staff walked past and didn't say a word. The (I presume) manager was sitting on a laptop, came to the till with a member of staff to check something and then moaned at her and didn't acknowledge that I was stood there at all.



They had items on the kids menu that they no longer a served so the kids couldn't have what they had chosen. This isn't the first time that has happened. Items were missing from our meals.



Overall, this place used to be good. It's pretty poor nowadays.

Service today was terrible, walked in managed to sit down on a non reserved table. Table of 4 people in the corner after they had got up and left the plates and dirty glasses still on the table. Service was very slow, meals came out and my steak and ale pie wasn’t red hot it was just warm, chips were hard and peas cold.

My partners meal wasn’t hot either it was warm. To many waitress walking around talking to each other, and not properly dressed for work. Manageress wearing flowery trousers when all the others had black skirts and black shirts on. Not impressed at all. Customer service needs to be looked at also. If manager wants to speak to me he can message me on here.

Came here for dinner last week. Lunch time about 1. Me my husband and little girl. Every drink I asked for they didn't have 'oasis,milkshake,slushpuppy' so stuck with a pint of fanta that was half full in a dirty glass.

Food came out pretty quick (2 burgers and chicken mash and peas) the pulled pork on one of the burgers had burnt to a solid slab. The chicken breast was all uncooked batter and no chicken.and the mash on my little ones was obvs packed mash but severely over cooked. Will not be returning.

service was poor waited 20 minutes to be served for a man to be served who went us after us for one of your staff to tell us hes been waiting a long time well yeah but we had got up the bar before him food wasnt great had to send a few meals back 1 meal went back twice as we asked for medium to well done steak the second time it came out it was rarer then the first time we then got a refund for that one other meal had cardboard in it mash was crap my daughters dinner was horrible so that was also sent back and peas was also burnt some of the staff was rude had to wait 45 minutes for ice cream ruined my 30th birthday meal never again

absolutely horrendous from the start, i came with my mother and 2 young children i ordered the food and when my food came it was swimming in grease i had to send it back after we had finished our meal it took 45 mins and me going to the bar to ask someone to clear our table for someone to collect our plates and then another 25 mins for them to bring my childrens ice creams out. service was an absolute joke! doesnt even deserve the one star you have to put to leave a review!

We've just been in for food for the 2nd time since the refurbishment and I must say what a huge disappointment it was.

Food was served incorrect and the steak was a bad cut cooked wrong as well.

We will not be returning again!!!!

Very disappointed today ordered 3 kids meals one with the veg sticks which considering it was cucumber and carrots they were dry as a bone as if they had been cut a week ago my husband's Gannon was perfect but my dinner which in the end I didn't get ...I ordered the steak sizzler had it before at another hungry horse pub which was amazing ...to receive it today on a cold sizzler plate not sizzling at all but looked like it was just sat on loads of water!! Rolling all over the plate the steak was cooked perfect med-welldone which I ordered being pregnant can't have a rare steak so they agreed to redo the dinner as it 2as stone cold I then received the steak sizzling away but also pumping with blood!! Which I state please make sure there is no blood due to being pregnant so by this time not I have waited nearly an hour for my food alone the rest of my family had eaten for me to receive the steak the 3rd time ..yet again blood coming out of it and rare again!!! In the end as everyone had finished including their puddings! I asked for a refund which they gave me but we're happy for me to still not have any food!! Other than they offered me a pudding errrrm no thanks when I havnt even had a main meal or even eat a main meal with my family so why would I want to sit and eat a pudding once my kids were getting fed up of waiting around for mommy to still have food when they had completed all theirs and puddings yes I received a we are so sorry about this here's your refund but honestly I just could not believe they could not get the steak how they did the first time!!! Come on guys is it really that hard to get a well done steak NO BLOOD due to health risks being pregnant!!! I can happily say I will not be going here again which is a shame as it was a fave of mine and the husband's but today was just ridiculous! Oh and to have to stand and wait at the bar 25 mins too to be served I think is a bit shocking too!!

Used to love this place, first visit with the family since the referb, Very poor experience, disappointed, poor service, took ages to get a drink at the bar, sides ie salad, mussy peas, sauces not available which go with the meal your ordering and no alternative offered. Seasoned fries were not seasoned, meals came out with bits wrong or missing, half of plates left uncollected until puddings came out, ice cream all running down the sides of dishes on arrival to table, no kids strawberry ice cream as ordered so child upset. Nothing for the kids in a family restaurant no colouring for them, play ground is now gone. Waitresses to me seem inappropriately dressed in very short tight skirts for a “family” restaurant, if you can call it family now. Looks to me they don’t want kids there now as they’ve created the adults only area and got rid of playground and colouring. Waitresses look very inexperienced and not sure what there doing, ours nearly dropped the plates of food twice. On a plus the food was ok.

Took my mom this evenning for her birthday , first of all when trying to order of the 2 courses for £9 we was told fudge cake wasn’t allowed even tho it was clearly stated on the menu !! Eventually the lady managed to get it go through after about 8 minutes of telling us we couldn’t have it , we sat in a booth there was no reserve sign . Then about 20 minutes after we was told we would have to be left by 7 !!!! When my mom questioned there was no sign was told they would rush our puddings out , we did not want our puddings then we was just basically rushed out !! Whilst the worker with the red hair blatantly kept looking at her watch whilst walking past our table !! So our meal out for my moms birthday was rushed thanks to yourselfs wanting to have your table back !! Funny because you didn’t seem to rush the staff of the booth that was sat behind us !!!

Really disappointed with our visit today to Hungry Horse Brownhills. Arrived at approx 1.30pm, place didn’t seem too busy. Found ourselves a table, and went up and joined the long queue at the bar to order food and drink. There was only 2 members of staff behind the bar. After 15mins, I was 2nd in the queue, but then the lady serving at our till disappeared!!! After 10 more minutes I gave up, and we left. Drove 2 minutes up the road to Smithy’s Forge, it was twice as busy yet amazingly we got served instantly. Needless to say, I know where we will be going from now on.

My partner booked a table 3 weeks ago for 7 people. Turned up today to be told our reservation was not in the book & turned away!! Fortunately the crown pub just down the road were very accommodating, fabulous meals & great service. Won’t be bothering with the Hussey arms again �

Brought my wife here for her birthday with family and friends and can honestly say what an absolute shambles this place was. For starters we were standing up the bar for 20 mins while the staff just walked past us then decided it was clever to serve people standing behind us. We put our complaint in but this fell on deaf ears. On every kids meal that had mash on it you can clearly see it's packet mash and overcooked now im no Gordon Ramsay but how on earth you can over cook packet mash is beyond me. We had 1 friend who had to send there meal back TWICE as they ordered steak medium to well and came out rare and some how more rare the 2nd time it came back. We got burnt mushy peas out the bottom of the pan and cardboard in 1 of our meals. Now after all this we then had to wait a further 45 mins for deserts which were mainly ice creams to show up. now unless your chef made it fresh (which I highly doubt as he can't make packet mash properly) this is a joke... The worst part of this was you had atleast 1 manager sitting outside the premises right by the where we were sitting and could clearly hear we were disgruntled but made no effort to out his cigarette or put down his pint to see what was going on with his staff. All in all very poor will never return.. Really think you could do with a big shake up in this place..
