Come to the quiz every Friday night and have food. Don’t expect too much as it’s a standard pub but never has a huge issue with any food. Staff always friendly but one lady in particular who stands out every week is MAGGIE, always friendly, happy,welcoming and attentive to us. works extremely hard and never seems stops even in all this hot weather. Any problems we’ve had she has always made sure they’ve been brought to attention and sorted out promptly. Definitely an asset to have at the pub, she’s amazing at her job and a hard worker.

We come here for the vegan options and the kids play area. Food was good and kids had a great time but as with all the other times we have been the service was slow.

We come here alot. I find tho that most times food is ordered, there is something missing, a sauce, coleslaw etc. Was looking forward to the new menu, so came here tonight. Again my order was wrong and things were missing. Duty manager did come to us and apologised and gave my husband a free drink which we were grateful for. We do love it here, it's just such a shame that meals don't come as they should. Always having to chase up missing items. It's easily fixed and when/if it is fixed, I'd give 5 stars every time

Have been a few times usually have just a small carver due to stomach surgery. The carver looked dry and very unappealing, so just ordered a side order of mace and cheese. They took the order wrong and a full size portion was brought to the table. We explained to the waitress and she was great. Sarah said to eat what I could and she would get us a take away box for what was left(well over half). Sarah was fantastic and would recommend everyone that visits to ask for her. So very polite and friendly, even making recommendations on what I could order next time to a smaller kids meal or even a golden years meal, just to tell the bar staff the smaller portion is for medical reasons. Never had such a helpful experience, and she deserves a rise or promotion. Sarah I will only ever come now when you are on shift, lovely girl 😊

Went in for lunch and for my son to watch the advertised man city match. Had to ask for it to be put on a screen he could see, only for it to be turned over without telling him half way through. He had to stand in a corner of the bar to see them win the trophy for them to change the channel again before seeing the presentation. Won't be watching the "advertised" match there again...

Traveled 15miles to go here for the kids.......Worst experiance iv ever had all my food and drinks for me and my childrens food were put onto someone elese tab then it took me 20mins to order my food due to a new lads first day on the bar! Food came out b4 i even left the bar, 8 of us at a table and every1s food came out at different times, food was great i cannot fault it but very very poor communication wownt be goin again

The big burrito was not toasted and it never had beans in it or ketchup the mushrooms looked liked they’d seen better days. My mum had scrambled egg on toast the toast was hard and the eggs was not freshly made, I had the breakfast and it was cold. We’d had a long journey to Stafford and was hungry as we had a long journey back to Brighton I was very disappointed

Painfully slow service tonight. Only ordered 3 meals, one of them being a children’s meal. Waited for 45 minutes before asking if they knew how long it was going to take to be told “5 minuets” to be still waiting another 15 minutes later. Such a shame as food itself was nice. Then had to wait a further 30 minutes for pudding, asked for a take away box in the end. Was told by the waitress we were given extra scoops of ice cream for our troubles to notice actually we weren’t given anything extra! Few more hands are needed, only saw a handful of staff throughout the whole pub

Stella tastes foul. So much food out on a Wednesday at 3pm that its turned rock hard or dry. Above the heat lamps on the carvery looks like it's not been touches by a cloth in weeks; Makes you wonder what the kitchen cleanliness is like? Would have said something at the time of eating, but the team never came to check how everything is. Gravy has no lids any number of foreign objects could fall in. Knobs on the pea's lid fell off had to play a game of fine the screw in the peas. Other than that great for a coffee.

Went on Tuesday evening.. carvery had been out all day by the look off it.. just crumbs of the Gammon left. I had Turkey and beef well one tiny bit of beef and lots off fat and skin from the Turkey.. all veg was cold didn't have lids on all the flys about not very good at all. Think skin on the gravy yuk! Condiments needed a good wipe around and maybe putting in a fridge the horseradish had curdled.. sat waiting about 20 minutes for a desert. While waiting many members off staff walked by without taking our finished plates.. so we had to sit and watch flies around the left over food. I know it's summer but why wouldn't you clear it straight away?? Would not recommend to anyone been a few time and nothing has changed.

We are very regular customers but came yesterday and what a terrible experience it was! We chose a table which we had to wait 10 mins to have cleaned then when we went to get our carvery there was only half a dry turkey to choose from, all of the veg was dry and hard and looked like it had been there for hours! When we asked if there was another choice of meat we were told it would be another 40 mins! So we all had to have the terrible dried up turkey which we did not eat! Would have loved to have complained on the day but no member of staff came anywhere near to either do a table check or clear our plates away. We left feeling that we would not return again! I used to manage pubs so I know what is and isn't acceptable service and boy did u get it all wrong yesterday! I will be complaining direct to the brewery also

We are regular customers we probably eat there at least once maybe twice a week today we decided to have a carvary which was a big mistake it was cold and not up to scratch,firstly whilst we were waiting to be served the chef who was dealing with the couple in front of us complaining of the quantity of food was poor as all the dishes we’re virtually empty he returned with what was supposed to be stuffing which was inedible which he dropped half the amount over the counter the rest was placed inside the dish with the rest of the so called stuffing (I would call it rubber)the carving of the meat was shocking it was shredded meat not sliced,the rest of the items were either over cooked or under the overall quality was very poor and disappointing,we did speak to a member of staff to air our concerns which was pretty much a waste of time as the guy we spoke to didn’t really want to know as the excuse was we have been busy which wasn’t the case when we were there which was around 2pm all he said was he will talk to the chef which he called him mat,the issue is there was no consistency or organisation the area around the carvary needs more improvement & care we will definitely not be eating there again.

Visiting the area for a family wedding. Had eaten at a hungry horse in a different area, and was ok. This place is a disgrace to the brand.The staff were run off their feet, and it seemed to be understaffed. We waited ages for the table to be cleaned, when our food finally came, after another long wait, it was dry and cold. Then had to ask for cuttlery.

Visited today for the first time, apart from the beautiful huge exterior and the cleanliness of the restrooms everything was terrible. Service was incredible slow... with the queue to the bar 20 people deep!! And servers still worked at there own leisurely speed chatting and talking to other employees while customers waited patiently. Being a duty Manager in an establish quite like this one it is evident that staff need training to be refreshed how to work with appropriate speed when working on the till. The deck was dry and had little meat considering it being dinner time on a Saturday afternoon. Not quite sure why the sauces were in a completely different place to the gravy. Paying nearly five pound for a microwaved jam roll poly was the icing on the cake, with burnt edges with solidified jam stuck on the plate it was a terrible experience. Unfortunately I won’t be returning if service doesn’t change, understanding that it was extremely busy and that there were a few big parties there service needs improvement to be able to deal with this.

The manager is rude as hell horrible women, no one seems to clean tables or put out fresh knives n forks and the carvery 'chef' if you call em that left people waiting massed up a que n didn't get more meat dont know why hes being paid mainly the issue is the slow bar staff ive been waitig 10minutes now and 2 people have been served...theres 2 barstaff on...how is this ok? Hungry horse need to sort there shit out wouldn't reccomend

Terrible, food was stone cold, waitress didn't appear to know what to do about it, duty manager/manager did try to help & offered to re-heat the food - we asked for fresh meals but Im pretty sure we recieved the same ones back. Manager/duty manager offered us free puddings but whent they came they looked 'interfered' with.

I am absolutely disgusted with the way me my boyfriend and our friend where treated today, I spent £32 and got told our food would be 10 minutes, we didn’t have a problem with that we where happy had a couple of soft drinks and was chatting away.

We waited and waited and still didn’t get our food so we asked the duty manager where our food was for then no one to come to us, we had already receive our starter which was that over cooked we couldn’t even get the knife through it, we then waited up to an hour and our food still wasn’t with us so then we asked again and said if it isn’t with us in five minutes we are going to have to get a refund, we where starving, the manager was full of attitude and said it will be 5-10 mins and I said I’m not waiting any longer as we where just filling ourselves up with pop, very rude staff and instead of asking how the starter was they where all just standing at the bar talking, I asked for a refund and she very rudely went and got it and just slapped it in my hand with no receipt or anything didn’t even get an apology I complained and said it wasn’t enough as she had only refunded what we hadn’t been given just said I’ll tell the chef, I will not be returning to this pub which is a shame as been their plenty of times before with our daughter. The duty manager that was on shift was very rude and had no experience of customer service at all

Horrendous service from the bartender with very heavy blue eye makeup, brown/dark hair. Sunday around 4:15. I had waited for a good 15 mins at the bar watching her serve everyone around me. She had terrible attitude so much so I refused to talk to her after a point and as I walked away, without making an order got a wonderful ‘good riddance!’ from her. Obviously, spoke to the duty manager who remedied the issue. I was only trying to order a cake! I understand it was a hot and sticky day for both staff and customers but I do not expect to be spoken to like that for simply saying ‘actually, I’m next’. I won’t be returning for some time, and when I finally do if she’s on shift I’ll be straight out again. Not Greene King material.
