Ianovated Wetsuits

About Ianovated Wetsuits

This is the only wetsuit that can keep your hands warm when the weather is below 10°C but which doesn't interfere with your chosen water sport.

Ianovated Wetsuits Description

Smooth Skin or Nylon lined wetsuits available with a Breath Powered Hand Heating System.
The tubes running from the mouth piece to the hands are continuous, running inside the wetsuit for insulation.
The mouth piece rests just below your chin waiting for whenever you need it.
The tubes enter behind your neck so that you can still enjoy free head movement when the mouth piece is in your mouth.
The tubes exit the wetsuit at the wrist for integration with your choice of glove or mitten.

Although most of us are enjoying the summer and our tube suits are in storage, at the other end of the world it is winter. RAF helicopter pilot, Willow, is back on duty in the Falkland Islands. He just sent me these pictures him taking some time off work. The air was minus 2°C and there is a foot of snow down there right now. I notice he is also able to use the hand heating tubes with the clear grip hand covers in sub zero temperatures. The point at which we switch to feeding the tubes into a more enclosed mitten is definitely getting lower as we get better exploiting this solution. Great to hear from you Willow, thanks Iain

Thanks for your interest in this Miriam Rasmussen. Lets hope the weather Putin keeps sending over to us ends soon so you can get on the water.

I think most of us are simply waiting for this cold spell in Europe to clear before going back on the water. For those with the Ianovated hand heating system, that first sail will be much easier, comfortable and probably sooner than for everyone else. Mathias from Denmark has used this cold spell to test the limits of the Ianovated hand heating system. The pictures are from a freestyle session in minus 9°C!!! To think, I invented this system to keep my hands comfortable in +5...°C on Draycote Reservoir! His report is as follows, I think the conclusion is, if the system lets Mathias do this crazy stuff then it will certainly keep us comfortable and extend the cold end of our sailing range-
Mathias reported- Yes, we are so happy with the system!!, with a base layer, it is not the cold but only the ice that limits us:) i think -9 deegrees is around the limits for cold windsurf, as i could not throw the sail around as it was super heavy and slippery, and same with the board, so heavy to get into the air. (also the saltwater was freezing, so there were big thick ice flakes floating around :) ... but that said it is still so much fun !!!:) and i rather have it cold and windy than warm and no wind :), another big problem with -9 deegrees is that you will need hot water source for derigging as every thing is solid frozen together, and the sail too, need to be unfrozen to be able to roll:) i think -4 to -5 deegrees we have no problems windsurf, then it is possible to get the ice of the boom and sail by pushing it into the water, and it never really get super heavy.

Alissa from Corpus Christie Texas just sent in this picture of her enjoying the Ianovated hand heating system last weekend. This part of the world is mostly warm to hot all year around but the only winter wave sailing is driven by occasional cold fronts in January and February. I have tried to market this system as enabling you to enjoy winters better wind and waves, I had no idea that principal extended so far south. Thank you for your support Alissa. Ian

Simon from Denmark purchased an Prolimit Hydrogen suit with Ianovated hand heating tubes and covers at the start of this winter. He has kindly just forwarded these pictures in along with the following feed back. "I really like the wetsuit, it is warm, both when sailing with it, but i am also able to keep warm doing short breaks. it is also really comfortable, and easy doing freestyle with, the does not really notice the tubes. It has really helped me to keep my hands warm, wh...ich are one of the places where i normally freeze the most. " I know the tubes to this system look like they are going to be uncomfortable and that it is therefore a trade off choice of cold hands or annoying tubes, but that really is not the case. As made clear in this feed back, the tubes are no trouble at all, they just let you blow your hands warm with no downside. Thank you for your support Simon. Ian

Mathias from Denmark just sent these pictures in of a freestyle session in minus 4°C, the coldest session so far this winter. He had previously reported that he was able to freestyle and use the clear grip hand covers with breath heating tubes down to 0°C. However for this session the boom was too cold and he choose to feed his breath hand heating tubes into DaKine closed mittens. For waves and slalom sailing you have much more time to blow the boom under your grip warm than you do for freestyle. I would like to hear how cold the clear grip covers are now being used now that we are getting better at using them. My UK home is of course too mild for this push forward.

Netherlands world youth slalom competitor Fabienne NED223 has just invested in an Ianovated wetsuit, hoping the hand heating tubes and covers would enable her to start training through the winter. The system works for her, she just made this posting about her first session in winter conditions. https://www.pintaram.com/u/f…/170246289 5819630838_1599751222 Good luck Fabienne, your winters will be very different now you can sail through them. Successfully working out how to use the clear grip hand covers has proved to be learning process for most of us. Getting rid of all the material between the hand and its grip on the boom or bar is a huge prize, but getting there has its complications. Put the hand cover on such that there is the smallest of gaps somewhere and it is a total fail. Every gybe you do potentially causes a gap! However those of us bold enough to try have won that totally clear grip prize. Mathias... from Denmark just sent these two pictures in and reported he is now freestyle sailing with the hand covers down to 0°C. Two years ago he was switching to using his hand heating tubes with DaKine closed mittens from about 4°C and below, explaining that the boom was too cold at that point and as he freestyled he was not in one position for long enough to blow the boom under his grip warm. The learning process has got his switch over point down by a further 4°C which is a lot of sailing time. For those of you that have not looked at this development here is a video about what this prize is all about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CM7bV18fd 4E

Murk from the Netherlands just sent these pictures in of him enjoying surfing in just 3°C. Although he wasn't the only one on the water he said he was the only one that was comfortable, the others do not have the hand heating tubes yet. Remember we will now fix the tubes onto your own suit for £79 + postage. Happy new year to you all. Ian

It is great to see UK Slalom pro Scott Stallman enjoying using the Ianovated hand heating tubes and hand covers. On a trial basis we are now offering to fix the Ianovated hand heating system onto any wetsuit that is posted to us for £79 + £35 for the hand covers. See our store page for details. http://ianovated.co.uk/…/wetsuit-drysui t-hand-heating-syst…/

Happy new year everyone. It was certainly a windy Christmas week for us Europeans, lets hope it continues. Here is our latest kitesurfing demo video. For those of you that are still putting up with cold hands and/or a grip disturbed by glove material I would be glad to answer any questions about this total solution. Thank you for your interest and support, Ian ismith@ianovated.com

Dinghy Sailors - Now you can wear your finger-less summer gloves through the winter. Thick neoprene winter gloves are no longer needed.
As I am windsurfer this breath powered hand heating development has so far mostly pushed things forward for wind and kite surfers, developing the clear grip hand cover to integrate with the breath powered hand heating tubes.
However with the help of some great sailors we have established the ultimate set up for dinghy sailors. Basically beca...use occasionally breathing into the mouth piece solves the cold hand problem, sailors can now wear their fingerless summer protective gloves through the winter, but with a very thin surgical rubber glove underneath them to circulate the heating breath around the fingers. Full hand dexterity and the critical sense of touch feed back is therefore preserved, but with out the fingers going cold, regardless of how cold the conditions are. www.ianovated.co.uk

Hi, I hope there is some wind in sight for you all over the Christmas weekend. Please take a look at our new website www.ianovated.co.uk. We have made various changes including a new kitsurfing video staring Mark from Wales.- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODOUhIhVZ nA Happy Christmas. Ian

Mark from Wales just posted these pictures of him kiting today in his new Prolimit suit with Ianovated hand heating tubes and hand covers. He was over powered on a 9m kite and was a bit concerned that the foot straps were dangerously open due to not getting that first winter set up for boots quite right. Fortunately his ankles did not come to any harm across the two hours and he reported back that the system mounted onto the Prolimit suit was perfect.

Tested my wetsuit with the ianovated system today. It worked perfectly. Started without gloves, it was not that cold, 9' Celcius, but after an hour of windsurfing my hands got a little colder so i put on the gloves and as i said it worked perfectly. Getting used to it was very easy, except my beard was in the way a couple of times, and within minutes my hands were warm. I love the ianovated system and i will windsurf more because of it. Highly recommended. Aloha

Ianovated is the best!!! I don't have windsurfing limits anymore. I'm proud to test the frontzip version with this system. keep on going!
