Isle Of Wight Nhs Trust

About Isle Of Wight Nhs Trust

Isle of Wight NHS Trust is the main provider of health services on the Isle of Wight.

Isle Of Wight Nhs Trust Description

Our Portfolio: The Isle of Wight’s Acute, Ambulance, Community and Mental Health services. The Trust is the only truly integrated provider health care in England. In 2012-13 income is forecast to be around £160m, for services delivered by a workforce of almost 3, 100 (2, 900 full time equivalent). We serve an isolated offshore population of 140, 000 and this brings some unique challenges.

Our history (as part of other NHS Trusts) is one of success;
• facilitating innovation and meeting national targets for service delivery
• successfully delivering financial balance
• performing well overall in terms of quality and efficiency

Congratulations to the happy couple!
Ambulance Service EVO (Emergency Vehicle Operative) Richard Downer proposed to his girlfriend and she said ‘YES’!
With the kind permission of the IOW Ambulance Service and Bay Tree Florist, Richard dressed in full uniform, stopped by his girlfriend's place of work for his surprise proposal to Rachel.
... Richard said “We first met four years ago and despite challenges along the way we have overcome them and realised if we can get through critical illness, studying for a diploma and everyday life experiences then we can get through anything together. We (along with our 4 sons, family and friends) are very excited about our engagement and our future”.

Appley ward has approx. 52 staff members including Dr’s, Ward Sister’s/Deputy Sisters, Staff Nurses, Nursing Associates, Registered Nurse apprentices, Healthcare Assistants (HCA’s), Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, a Ward Clerk and a Patient Navigator.
They all work together to care for patients on the 28 bedded Acute General Medicine ward which specialises in Respiratory and Endocrine.
Appley ward is currently trialling a new model which ensures a HCA is in a ward bay at all times. The aim of this trial is to improve patient safety, minimalise patient falls, reduce pressure sores and improve communication between staff and patients.
