It’s been a while. We cannot believe that we’re already in June...! That means much lighter evenings for travel and (theoretically..!) better weather too. Definitely been umbrella and wellies weather recently though, so don’t pack away your waterproofs just yet!!
This week is learning disability week, so make sure you get involved however you can. Checking https://www.mencap.org.uk/get…/learning -disability-week-2019 is a good start and has lots of information on what... you can do to mark this awesome awareness week.

We’ve been quiet recently but don’t worry - we’ve been busying away behind the scenes making sure everything is running like clockwork!
With new initiatives on the horizon, level 2 courses aplenty, some great work with some awesome trainees and events pretty much daily, we’ve been raising the Travel Training bar all over the place!

A huge thank you to everybody who attended our awards evening on Thursday. It was a wonderful night (hopefully) enjoyed by everyone in attendance. It was a great opportunity to celebrate the amazing work done by our fantastic trainees and we are so proud of all of them!!
We had some great speeches from both trainees and parents, a welcome for our new staff and four special awards to celebrate some of our most helpful trainees. Plus a lot of mince pies!

Nearly one in every five people in the UK has a disability or impairment, and over half of households have a connection to someone with a disability. Their collective spending power – the Purple Pound – is worth £249 billion to the UK economy.
... However, this potential is not being fully realised. There are still real (and perceived) barriers that make it harder for disabled people to find work, spend money online and in store, and enjoy a drink or meal out.
The aim of Purple Tuesday is to make customer-facing businesses more aware of these opportunities and challenges and inspire them to make changes to improve the disabled customer experience over the long term.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks here at the ITTU - from running our parent TITAN event to attending the Westminster School careers day, we’ve been out and about trying to talk to as many people as possible about TITAN, travel training and everything in between!
We are getting to the time of year where we all get colder and the nights get darker - make sure you wrap up warm when out and about, wear brightly coloured clothing so you can be seen more easily, and be sensible and stay safe when travelling. Happy Friday!!

Huge thanks to all the parents, school staff and honorary trainers for their excellent hard work today!
It’s been great for us to get an unique insight from our trainees who have taken on the role of trainers today - and done so with great enthusiasm! They really rose to the occasion, completing successful initial assessments, filling in paperwork, and completing a travel training route between Oldbury and West Bromwich!!
Also great to hear the experience from parents and t...eachers who have now seen the other side of the training programme, and been great sports in being assessed, observed and signed off. All successfully, we are pleased to say.
All in all a very successful event for national customer service week!

One of the biggest changes will be to the 120/120a and the 289 - these routes will be changing to the 3, 3a, 12 and 12a. If this is your route please take some time to read about these c...hanges!!!
