In 1999 Jean was diagnosed with grade 2 breast cancer. Despite numerous battles with cancer, Jean did not let her illness impede her artistic vision. In April 2004 Jean started experiencing pain in her ribs and had a scan that confirmed her cancer had spread to her bones and there was no cure this time. By July it had spread to her spine and later her liver as well. Sadly in 2005, aged 45, Jean passed away.
Now her daughter, Alice, is reviving her mother’s work, publicising Jean’s designs as a timeless testament to her memory. Each original design has been named after important women in Jean’s life; her daughter, mother, sisters and friends.
