John Cattle'S Skate Club

About John Cattle'S Skate Club

John Cattle's Skate Club C. I. C is a not for profit community skateboard club. Giving everyone the opportunity to learn to skate from toddlers to adults. All abilities including those with additional needs and disability.

John Cattle'S Skate Club Description

SKATE CLUB is run by veteran professional skateboarder John Cattle and his team.
John has been skateboarding since an early age, and officially started the skateboard company, Wight Trash in early 2004.

Over the last 4 years he has also developed skate lessons for children. This all started as a bit of fun teaching John's 4 year old son, then his son's friends, and then their school got involved, being the first to hold regular lessons and workshops.
This has all developed now into lessons for adults, and sessions for more experienced skaters to learn some new skills too.

Lessons take place every week at West Wight Sports Centre in Freshwater, and at St. Marks Church Hall in Wootton, as well as at other venues, after school clubs, and events across the Isle of Wight.

All ages are welcome, from 5 years old to adults - from complete beginners, to old pros.

No equipment necessary as boards and complete safety gear is provided, as well as ramps onsite.

You can also book a Skate Club Party, for Birthdays, team building events, or just to do something different with a group of friends.
Whatever the reason, you will be able to skateboard within an hour, guaranteed.

See the pinned post for up to date session times on the main page, and have a read of our reviews.
Please do send us a message or give us a call if you would like any more information and also if you would like to get lessons started at your school, college, or youth club etc.

Keep on rolling!

Who caught the SLS World Championship tour over the weekend? The kids are killing it with 11 year old Brazilian Rayssa Leal coming 3rd in the women's comp.
If you want to get some practice in to be a top class skater then skate club is open all week as usual. (although no micros or West Wight session today).

New Week, New Makes... What tricks will you be working on at skate club this week?

User

DO YOU USE SKATEPARKS? well of course you do if you come to skateclub, but we know lots of you use parks around the island too - not just skaters but scooters, BMX etc too Can you or get your kids - teens/young adults in particular to take about 3 minutes to fill in this survey. Your opinion on skatepark use will be really helpful. Share around and let other parents know - if people are part of online parent/school groups etc it'd be great to get as many responses as possibl...e. The survey closes on Monday - so last chance. Thanks

When you come to skate club have a look at this brilliant bit of work created from old skate decks. This awesome Santa Cruz Screaming Hand was made by our very own ramp builder extraordinaire Gary 'mad dog' Murdoch! So rad.

After a super fun weekend, we've had a great start to the week with our micro shredders. Here is 4 year old Oscar. This is his 3rd skate session. We're super stoked at his progress. On his first session he had to practice how to scoot on his knees using the board as it was all completely new to him. Now he's on the ramps and showing more confidence every week. If you've got a wannabe micro shredder, or some young ones who could benefit from 'hard play' to help increase th...eir bravery and confidence, then come along. There is one more session of this block next Monday, then a new block starts on 3rd June.

We're here at Hullabaloo all weekend. Loads of great things to do all for FREE. Come along. And if anyone is entering the cardboard wars event here tomorrow and still needs to do their 'armour' then Zoe has a load of boxes at the shop that can be collected today until 6pm.

We will be at Hullabaloo this Saturday and Sunday with our beginner set up, ready for anyone wanting to have a taster session to give skateboarding a go - all ages welcome. Hullabaloo is a really cool event with art, science and creative stuff going on the whole weekend - for FREE! Check out their facebook page for info on all the stuff going on. The parade is at 1.30pm on Saturday, and cardboard wars is taking place on Sunday afternoon! If anyone needs any boxes to make their battle outfits we have a few at the shop!

Putting it out there.... IF we were to enter a Skate Club team for Ryde carnival this year, who'd be up for getting involved? Thinking kids carnival 28th Aug (great to have some micros in that one) and the main carnival on 29th Aug. We've been asked about this the last few years, but might just be able to squeeze it in this year if we have enough skate clubbers wanting to join in!! What do you think?

A big Thankyou goes out to Jaimie and Steve who did a 24hr fundraiser via Twitch Streaming (we had to Google it too!). As well as fundraising for the MS Society, they kindly chose to raise some cash for skateclub too. Steve streamed himself playing games like Rollercoaster Tycoon, Bioshock and even designed some Lego builds. And Jaimie spread the word with online viewers about the work we do. Thanks guys, this money will go into a funding pot which will help us to provide skate lessons and equipment to even more kids ¤æŹ¤Å╝ŌÖź’ĖÅ

The new block of our Short Breaks sessions start back tomorrow. Every Sunday we have the pleasure of skating with children and young people who have additional needs and disability. These 45 minute sessions are run in the same way as all our other sessions, but are run as smaller groups with an extra skate coach, so everyone can get a bit more support when they need it. They are super fun, and nice and relaxed. If you would like to try them out then send us a message, as we... can accommodate one off sessions as long as there are sessions, if you don't want to sign up the whole block. Participants need a Isle of Wight Council shortbreaks Gateway card - if you don't have one or want to know more then just let us know and we can help sort that out for you. Head to www.bookwhen.com/skateclub if you want to book your place on the block.

We have just a handful of the smallest size Jurassic Trash tees left at the shop. They work out about 4-5yrs. Once they're gone they're gone for good as we're not making any more. Pop to the shop or DM us if you want one. ┬Ż10

Our 5pm session is fully booked today, you can get added to the waiting list which will give you an email alert should anyone change their booking. Other sessions during the week still have places, why not get booked in to guarantee your space. Remember if you book 4 sessions you get an automatic discount. You can also rearrange sessions online should there be a week you end up not being able to do. We try and accommodate people as much as possible but if we have max numbers and you turn up we might not be able to fit you in for a skate if you're not pre-booked.
