With snow forecast today and tomorrow we are very much aware of all those who are vulnerable in the community and also those that are at risk whilst they carry out their vital roles in the community.
The NHS has issued advice on how to stay warm. People should wrap up, keep moving around their home, prepare hot drinks and eat at least one hot meal a day.
In bad weather check up on friends, relatives and neighbours who may be more vulnerable to cold weather.
... Cold weather is especially dangerous for older people or people with serious illnesses, so if you can check up on anyone locally to you it could make a huge difference.

For someone living with dementia, this frosty weather can be dangerous - and they may not always be able to communicate if they're feeling the cold.
Here are some tips from the Alzheimer’s Society on keeping someone with dementia safe and comfortable when it's cold ❄️

As the winter weather approaches, we are busy preparing for bad weather conditions.
We are pleased to be working with Herefordshire Council and Landrover Experience, Eastnor where we will be taking part in resilience 4x4 driver training sessions.
Winter can be a very challenging time of the year and this will help us to ensure that we get to our most vulnerable Clients when we are most needed.

Free NHS flu vaccinations are being offered to all eligible groups now. The flu jab is an annual one-off vaccine, which changes every year to fight the latest strains of flu, so even if you had a jab last winter, you need another one this year to help stay flu safe.
By getting your flu vaccination you will not only be helping protect yourself but also those around you who may not be able to have the vaccine due medical reasons.

For the elderly and vulnerable, especially those who are living alone, a knock at the door can be an intimidating and worrying experience on any given day – never mind on Halloween.
Having groups of people constantly knocking on your door at night could became an issue and having to answer the door constantly can also increase the risk of a fall.
Let’s celebrate Halloween by having fun and eating many sweets but also taking care of our elderly and frail residents.

The impact of a stroke will be different for everyone.
On World Stroke Day on 29th October 2018 we want to focus the world’s attention on what unites stroke survivors and carers and namely their resilience and capacity to build on the things that stroke can’t take away; their determination to keep going on the recovery journey.
