With its cosy atmosphere and simple but tasty menu selection, there is a real authenticity to this restaurant. It is one of the best Italian meals I have had without being on holiday! There was a good vegetarian selection and the daily specials gave extra choice to the menu. My friend and I enjoyed a really hearty meal with the pleasant house red wine and the total cost was surprisingly reasonable. Overall I was impressed with the quality of food, the service and the value for money; will definitely return next time I am in the area.

Went for lunch yesterday as we often do when visiting Shrewsbury. This place is a little hidden gem. Great food and ambiance at a very reasonable price. Wasn’t sure if I should leave a review in case we can’t get a table next time. If you love all things Italian then you will love it here.

We visited Christmas eve and had a fabulous meal.We had a set menu which was remarkable value with a glass of bubbly thrown in!!The service and food were excellent and I would highly recommend La Lanterna.Thank you for making our Christmas eve special!! : )

Thank you to all the amazing staff for accommodating my year 1/2 children today for our Around the World topic trip. The children from our little country school had an amazing experience of Italy that they will never forget. Fantastic food, fantastic service and best of all, extremely child friendly. Thank you for being so organised and providing everything we asked for too.

On arriving, I wasn't sure quite whether I'd made the right choice. You're assaulted by what looks like the back room of a village hall, opening out into a room with an obviously very different past.

Get over it though, the food is simply all you could wish for. No bling, no unnecessaries, just a concise menu of true Italian food. Loved it. The wild boar special is just that. I'll be back.

My wife and I came to lunch yesterday and really enjoyed our food, the welcome was warm the house red was lovely and the atmosphere was relaxed. The spaghettini was perfect with my puttanesca sauce.

Lovely food, great service and such good price. I think people will miss this gem of a place simply from how it looks from outside, but its,well worth the venture inside.

I visited here for lunch today, very tucked away but it was lovely and quaint, authentically decorated and delicious home made Italian food! Excellent service too, definitely recommend.

Excellent food & service ! The Restraunt was full at 6.00pm however the service was attentive not intrusive , & the food was of first class. We had 3 courses with wine for a very reasonable price . It's worth the 36 mile each way trip.

Celebrated my daughter's birthday on the 8th April at the wonderful La Lanterna, the menu covers a huge range of Italian cuisine. Food , staff and ambience are perfect , my Granddaughter highly recommends the desert choice especially the cheesecake. Thankyou La Lanterna for being fabulous hosts.

Best Italian I’ve been to (I’ve been to many!) barr Italy! Puttanesca was yummy & full of capers, olives & anchovies. Lunch special is great value too. First visit today & will definitely be coming back! Thank you �

Lovely little restaurant. We had the lunchtime special (£8.50), vegetables and ham pasta penne in a light creamy sauce with warm tomato bruschetta - includes a bread roll, side salad and a glass of vino - grazie mille!
