We saw The Jilted Generation downstairs in The Zephyr Lounge. It's proper dark n dingy in there, just like it should be for a gig like that! There's too many clinical venues now where there's no atmosphere. This place isn't one of those. Really enjoyed the show, proper mosh pit where you get up close to the band, and great sound system, my ears are still ringing! I saw The Wonderstuff upstairs a few weeks ago in The Assembly Rooms too and enjoyed that too. The room is amazing and reminded me of the original gigs we used to go in the early 90s (except everyone was a bit older! Lol). The only fault that night was that the staff could have been a bit speedier that night. I think they were new and I recognised a few of them when I returned, and they'd sped up a bit.

User

I attended Bon jovi experience fantastic night .... great atmosphere ...

User

Alabama 3 were absolutely superb, fantastic performance. First time I had been to The Assembly and there were a couple of niggles. No cloakroom for coats so we had to hide them as putting them on the floor was out of the question due to beer spillages. Ladies and gents toilets had no signage to indicate which was which, rather embarrassing for the ladies to walk in on the men don't you think?

User

2nd time we've seen the fantastic Gary Numan here...great old venue with loads of character...smaller than he usually plays so very intimate and you can get a great view..no air con so gets very sweaty!!! Xx

User

Went to see Leo Sayer had a gr8 night! loads of staff behind the bar! been before took ages to get served! so that was an improvement ÔŅĹ

Only down side we had to leave bcoz there was another event going on afterwards so everyone was just getting into it , having a good time dancing and it finished and 9.45ÔŅĹEven Leo said he wanted to carry on!

User

Drove down from Ellesmere port on Thursday to see Midge ure , got right at the front and was very happy , the sound was brilliant , the hall was brilliant and there were plenty of staff behind the bar , they even do a 2 pint plastic container to save you going for a refill, the floor in the bar was sticky but overall I was well happy

User

Atmosphere at the Red Hot Chilli Pipers was amazing..... venue wasn’t full though which was surprising given how popular they are..... maybe because the venue is a lovely building but it could do with a refurbishment. Carpet was sticky, toilets weren’t great and I didn’t really need to have full view into men’s urinals when leaving the ladies.

Also, maybe if it felt cleaner and fresher I wouldn’t mind paying £2.50 for a bottle of water or £2 per item in the cloakroom. Staff were pleasant enough though and event was well organised. Tickets were emailed and easily downloaded to phone and communication from EventBrite was good.

The Pipers spent a lot of time afterwards out with the audience signing CDs etc and having photos taken and there was no great rush to usher the audience out at the end by the staff.

Overall it was a great night...... lighting and acoustics were great!

User

Venue was great for the world cup games, totally let down by the poor bar staff. Saw one guy waiting at the bar for 20 mins before eventually being served...unnecessary tension created. £1 a pint for England goals a great idea, why stop it after the group games?? At £4 a pint you were clearly making enough on regulars.

User

Not usually one for complaining but I'll be as constructive as possible. The venue was not prepared for a sold out gig to be honest (Saw Doctors, April 2017) The amount of toilets was not acceptable and the bar set up was awful.

I think it would be useful to plan ahead and look for times when gigs aren't sold out to do maintenance, between the toilet queue and waiting for 1 drink we missed half the gig.

I completely appreciate that 80% of the bar staff were new (so people were told, big talking point in the toilet queue) but they had no support or direction and I felt a bit sorry for them. I think serving double pints of Guinness is a bad move anyway but at an Irish gig there should have been a constant flow of Guinness being poured to reduce waits on other drinks.

The band were amazing though and almost made up for everything else but in the future I'd consider seeing in Birmingham rather than Leamington to be honest.

User

Atmosphere was great, but i was stood at the bar for 45mins watching beers being poured but none being served. made no sense

User

£1 a pint for every England goal was a complete con! The servers were super slow to ensure only a few people were served in the 10 minute period and the bar staff were rude. Certainly will not be returning.

User

Writing this review as my last one was removed by someone.

We attended the Magic of Motown show on 28 Oct 2017 which at ¬£25 per ticket was nothing more than a poor Karaoke performance which started at 2000 and finished at 2130. The bar staff were inept and slow at serving and there were very few draft beers available. Despite discussing with the bar manager he did nothing to resolve the slow service or lack of beer but the most disappointing aspect was that on the tickets it stated the show was from 1900 to 2300. However, at 2145 the bar was closed and we were asked to leave the building for a variety of reasons from ‚Äúthe show is over‚ÄĚ to ‚Äúcurfew‚ÄĚ to ‚Äúwe are closed‚ÄĚ. This was totally unacceptable and spoilt the evening as the venue had no reason to evict us and no justification as we had valid tickets to stay till 2300 hrs.

The whole event was poorly managed as was the poor performance from some average singers and was no way worth £25. We only paid £30 to see Train in Birmingham the week before so how is that value for money?

It was a poor choice of event, over priced, and there needs to be better on site management to deliver a better customer experience.

User

Thought the venue was great and of course chase and status couldn't be faulted! However, the vile bouncers have completely let this event down. As a bystander I found it quite distressing watching INNOCENT people being picked off like flies, by what I would describe as a 'cry for masculinity'. For the rest of the night I could not relax and neither could others around me! I have never seen bouncers walking around intermediating the crowd and so desperately looking for a fight like this before! Abuse of power is an understatement.

User

Shocking!! My mum and her friend paid £26 for tickets for Motown from 8-11, they were ushered out on to the street by bouncers at 9.30! This is disgusting, the assembly should be ashamed of such a disgraceful evening of ripping people off and kicking customers out before the ticket even expired!!!!

User

One star! Doesn't even deserve that.

Fantastic performance by the London Gospel Choir tonight, can't say the same for the venue. I've been to some dives but this is the worst place I've ever set foot in. £20+ a ticket to discover when you get in it's a standing only concert. People were asking for chairs to be told they could only have a chair, which they had to beg for and carry themselves, if they were disabled. I was actually asked to provide a disabled badge as proof, however, I did get a chair after saying I had no intention of walking back to the car for it and wanted a refund as the tickets were not advertised as standing only and therefore mis-sold. Once the concert started, those seated couldn't see because of people standing in front.

Absolutely appalling, you stick to the filthy carpets and it stinks of urine. The staff are rude and clearly don't wish to make an effort. Non- existent knowledge of customer service. Poorly organised and clearly hadn't taken account of the target market for this particular concert. They clearly have no regard for the poor reviews they get .

Oh and what a treat after a treacherous journey down the stairs for disabled and elderly people, to come out of the 'ladies' to have full view of the 'mens', with chaps standing at the urinals.

This was a birthday treat for my daughter and spoilt by a venue that clearly is in dire need of a decent management and staff team.

User

I attended the Chas n Dave gig tonight and was very disappointed by the incompetent staff all of whom seem to have just started their jobs today and it came across as if training is needed as they didn't seem to know what they were doing or anything about the venue and also fire escape doors should not be locked as this is health and safety. Its a shame as 5 years ago when I came to this venue it was the total opposite experience.

User

Great performance by forever amy, but the venue was so run down; the toilets were absolutely disgusting, vomit in cubicles and no toilet seats on most of them either. It’s a shame because the staff were friendly enough but for £27 a ticket and given its location, I would have expected better. Also it’s worth mentioning, whilst they have security staff, I, nor my handbag were searched which made me feel uneasy given the times we live in.

User

For £15 I expected more to be fair. The night was advertised to be a lot more than it was. Feeling pretty disappointed.

User

Entry 10¬£, shots 4¬£ each... altogether i spent 20-25¬£ more than i would in another club. Awful music - the dj had no skills, sense of rhythm or consistency eg. ‚ÄėPush Me to the Edge‚Äô has played 5 times in one night. In the middle of the party music stops and dj asks everyone to shout ‚Äėfuck neon!‚Äô which was very random. Hmm maybe they think it was cool. Try to avoid it next time.
