Visited yesterday for afternoon tea for my mums birthday treat and I could not be happier with the food and the service! I’m not sure what this gentleman’s name was but he was the front office manager was very welcoming and was happy to help us with queries and other questions we had. However when it came to our afternoon tea the service from Mary in the bar was amazing, nothing seemed too much of a hassle for her, she is a real treasure to that hotel. I would like to say a massive thank you to Mary for make our afternoon even more special.

The food was absolutely delicious aswell would definitely recommend.

This is a lovely hotel with lots of period charm. This is the second time we have stayed at Alveston Manor and have loved it every time. The rooms are well appointed and you can stay in the newer block or the old part of the manor house. Staff are friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble when asked. There is plenty of safe parking but there is a small charge. Both breakfast and evening meal are excellent and there is a good selection to suit every taste. Guests can use the excellent pool and gym facilities FOC. Its just a short walk into the centre of Stratford. I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel or stay here again.

User

This hotel was our wedding venue back on 22 August 2008. Been back several times since and have booked for a weekend stay this year to celebrate our 10th Anniversary (in the same bedroom). Hopefully it is just as good. Lovely hotel, lovely people.

User

The hotel staff were excellent, especially Ed the Reception Manager. We had an issue with our room as it was above the bar so quite noisy - we were moved easily, with complimentary drinks. Very good service - would recommend staying there!

User

My daughter booked a spa day with afternoon tea for s surprise for Mother's Day for me. The hotel is beautiful and full of character and is a pleasure to walk through oldy worldy corridors with beams, dark oak paneling and glass - all blended in to create the right atmosphere for this period building - stunning. Yes there is a smell of oldness but that adds to the character!

We had an amazing spa experience as well as body massage with hot stones - bliss! I have been to better spa's in the past but still an enjoyable experience. All staff were very accommodating and very friendly. Well worth the 5* treatment throughout our all day.

User

Loved our treat at the spa,and afternoon tea in the restaurant was brilliant. The girls even sang happy birthday to my daughter! Candles in our cakes too. So much to eat so we had to bring some cakes home with us. We will definitely be visiting again soon. Excellent

User

Here with my daughter . First impression was definitely 5* as the welcome from the reception was really warm and friendly. Lovely room Excellent breakfast . All the staff are friendly . Lovely 3 days in Stratford. Would definitely stay here again !

User

Had an overnight stay with spa treatment ..couldn't fault any of it . Friendly helpful staff lovely swim and spa treatment amazing, very professional staff .breakfast buffet lovely..thank you all for my relaxing enjoyable stay which was a treat off my daughter

User

Booked in for a spa break. We got upgraded to a suite and the room was lovely. Had chocolates, fruit, free bottles of water and expresso machine. Bed was comfortable and breakfast was lovely even catered for me with gluten free toast! The massage and facial myself and my hubby had were really professional and both enjoyed it. £5 for parking but we could keep the car there on our day of departure and walk into Stratford. Defiantly recommend this hotel.

User

Very clean and friendly. The treatments were great my lady was lovely.. the tea was absolutley out of this world.. the barman was so nice and wanted mine and my daughter inlaws birthday treat to be one to remember.

Yes i would recomend you to fsmily and friends.

User

The place is inviting. The place has a historic feel with an elegant but modern twist. The rooms are nice and of decent size. The afternoon tea are amazing. All in all my wife and I had a pleasant an relaxing time

User

Our first time at this hotel the food was lovely, staff very helpful, attentive and friendly and lovely garden to sit in too, we will return.

User

Apart from the grumpy and unhelpful receptionist on arrival we had a lovely stay.Lovely historic building ,great location, large car park, very tastefully decorated and furnished.Wonderful large modern well equipped bedroom, very comfy bed.

Changed lunch plans on arrival as we weren’t allowed to check in at 1.00 ( didn’t actually need room access) and therefore voted with our feet and had a wonderful lunch just over the road at Cox’s Yard who were much more welcoming. After theatre drinks in the cosy bar with great service and very reasonably priced drinks.

Breakfast was wonderful huge choice of everything you may want with high quality bacon and sausages.

So all in all quite we had an enjoyable celebration 2 days just slightly disapointed with lack of warmth and friendliness of some of the staff encountered.

User

Stayed for two nights with two teenage girls , their room had two extra beds made up in it which was a mistake and made it difficult to get round . We asked for the extra beds to be taken out which they promised they would do the next morning .. this never happened ! Breakfast was half hour wait on the first morning . Cobwebs in our room . Beds very comfy though :) On checking out , they tried to charge us for treatments we hadn’t had and an extra bed and breakfast ! We stayed in a Macdonald hotel in Scotland for New year which was fabulous , Sadly this one needs some TLC and better organisation ! Good location and breakfast staff very friendly .

User

I had tried sending a private e-mail but unfortunately have not had a response for i do not like to write negative reviews for possibly our stay was just a bad day or two...however due to no response I feel it necessary to air my disappointment. I had booked a one night stay for a treat for me & my partner while he is recovering from a operation ...we normally stay at the Bilsley manor hotel but thought we would try something different ...on first arriving there was NOBODY on reception so obviously no one to welcome us ! for our first impression of disappointed that a kitchen member of staff had to go and find someone left us just stood in reception looking at each other in disbelief ...our room was not ready but really not a problem...they suggested that we could use the spa area or bar. We went to the bar to have a drink while waiting however NOBODY there either !!!...it was rather busy and after almost 10mins a lady also waiting had to go and find staff! We decided to have afternoon tea ( very nice) however NO hot tea was brought out with the sandwiches and cakes...so we stopped eating waiting for our hot drinks to have together but never came..yet again we had to go and find staff ! All in all this totally put us off dinning for a meal at the hotel that evening (so we decided to eat in Stratford ) I gave a more detailed review in my private e-mail stating it was not the poor young man's fault at the bar who was clearly struggling & multitasking ! Just so disappointing that to have NO welcome at reception to NO staff at the bar/afternoon tea area was disbelieving for when he was there he was having to keep leaving which left customers waiting & wondering what's this all about ? The room was lovely when ready so made up for the not so good first impressions however we still thought against dinning there on the evening.

On the morning coming for breakfast I could not believe that staff was walking past us while waiting to be seated...not even a Good Morning ! ...we then had to ask ! On to later having to find staff to order hot drinks...staffing levels got better & friendlier while having our breakfast ( that was very nice) I can only discribe us expierencing all this was down to poor manners & poor leadership during our stay...such a shame that our first impressions of disappointed will not want us to return in a hurry...that is such a shame for the hotel itself was beautiful and we could not fault our room...hope the service gets better & others do not experience what we sadly did. Some other people staying at the same time told me how disappointing it was too for them...i can only speak for myself but hearing compaints from others too really was an upsetting stay.We are a hard working couple who value the money we spend on a treat so feel very let down and sadly could not recommended this place at this time.

User

Alveston manor needs to go back to the basics and address them. Cleanliness being the first the rooms are crying out for a deep clean, the small fixtures and fittings need updating, you cannot run a hotel on what appears to be a minimal work force...spend to accumulated! Then maybe you can justify your charges, 5 bland chicken nuggets drenched in what tasted like off oil put on sticks do not pass as chicken skewers especially when the dip was too watery to mask the taste @ £9???? Evening meal substandard compared to price. Staff are friendly a credit I think when most likely stretched to breaking point, 15 minuite wait for drinks when only us and anorher couple in the room, Such a shame all round as main part of hotel is beautiful and has plenty of potential.

User

Was looking forward to a night away in the executive suite but came away tired and disappointed. The TV had only a few channels working and the espresso machine did not work. The noise level was totally unacceptable with doors slamming and continual walking up and down above us and immediately outside our room. The actual room was clean and the bed was amazingly comfortable, all the more frustrating when we couldn’t get any sleep.

User

Had a Christmas gift given me for two,so stayed there last night...as we got there we had a coffee n drink, which we had outside as we smoke..this was about 2.30pm, the cups were still there today...the rooms where good the bed wasn’t that comfortable as dipped in the middle

Had a table booked for 8pm , by the time we placed our food order. The starter came 30 mins after ordered, then main meal came 15mins after. Couldn’t fault the food was lovely!

The spa well only a swimming pool, sauna and steam room...thankfully the back massage was good.

Will not be going back quite disappointing

The parking was charged on leaving, I have never known any hotel to charge you an overnight stay charge...

User

Found the entrance surrounded by cobwebs, on entering reception a stale damp smell. Hotel generally run down. The worst was our room which stunk of stale tobacco and damp, was dark and dingy with old uncomfortable furnishing. At this point checked out. Definitely not showing it’s true self on their website, disgusting! Staff very helpful and nice
