We came here for the first time and had the best experience ever. The spa ladies were amazing. I had a facial from Natasha who was very professional made me feel comfortable and I could have lay there all day. The products they use (Elemis) were amazing. The Pool facilities were so clean, love the fact I didn’t have to take ages getting used to the water it’s so warm and you can just get straight in.

The rooms were a good size everything you need in them. Just trying to figure out how to get one of these beds in my room I’m in heaven. The maid is going to have to drag me out of the bed !

We played night golf which was really good fun thank you to all the staff who made us welcome and we will defiantly be coming back

Three of us came along for the Rasul Mud Therapy package with prosecco and cream tea. The staff were all fab, from enquiring and booking through to the day, they couldn’t have been friendlier and more helpful. We upgraded to afternoon tea which was lovely too. Great sauna, steam, relaxation room and the mud treatment was wonderful! Can’t wait to come back, thanks.

The hotel, facilities, restaurant, rooms, bars are superb, excellent quality! The golf courses are magnificent, a real test for all golfers. The staff are friendly, professional and provide great service. We had a fantastic weekend.

User

Nine lady golfers had a wonderful time at Hill Valley. Two great course, quite testing in different ways but in beautiful surroundings.

Super rooms which were well appointed. Friendly, helpful staff and a delicious evening meal. What more could you want? Fantastic weather was a bonus! Well done Macdonald Hill Valley.

User

Lovely one night package deal including dinner and bed and breakfast.

Fabulous facilities.

Delicious food (although some food was slightly cool on arrival).

A little bit delayed on check in and a long wait for food in the restaurant.

The massage I had in the spa was one of the best I've ever had!

All staff were friendly and helpful.

Highly recommended!

User

Loved it! We booked a group surprise for my moms 60th birthday. The staff were amazing they helped the surprise be a surprise! They are friendly and so helpful. Spa was fab we had a Rasul mud treatment and afternoon tea which was perfect! Highly recommended! Afternoon tea catered for celiac and I had my own platter which was delicious! Thank you so much for making the day perfect!

User

I would like to say a huge thank you to all of you guys for making Poppy’s birthday special today! I am not sure what the lady’s name on reception was but she made us so welcome so a massive thank you. All facilities and staff were perfect....xxx

User

Amazing visit for a friends birthday. Everything was excellent from start to finish. Kirsty the hotel receptionist greeted us in a warm welcoming manner. The spa staff were great so attentive and helpful. The room was very comfortable with a splendid view of the golf course. The restaurant menu had a varied menu and all things sounded very tasty. Both our starters, mains and desert was mouthwatering and the service received by our waitress Ashley and who I think was the restaurant manager was impeccable. Both of us received a complimentary glass of Fizz and the chef made a lovely gesture with a chocolate greeting and chocolates which was such a lovely touch. Our sleep was peaceful and the calm felt during the stay carried through the night. The breakfast was *A we both had the Macdonald Full English, the black pudding and bacon were particularly tasty. We ended our stay with a lovely farewell from Rachael the receptionist who also was fantastic during booking where she went up and beyond to be helpful. Thank you Macdonald Hill Valley for a wonderful stay.

User

Staff were excellent, welcoming and polite. Room was well presented, but wasn’t very clean. Massive cobwebs in the room that were clearly old as they were dusty. Room service was excellent and the food was great quality too.

User

Spent Saturday/Sunday golf/spa weekend. The hotel itself is lovely and the rooms we had were beautiful with doors opening into the garden with a Amazing views. The evening meal was very good, but unfortunately the waiting staff were not!! Our wait for 1 drink at table took at least 30 minutes to arrive and so was the time between courses. However at breakfast the service was much much better and the breakfast was very good. The only criticism we had was the poor service on Saturday evening, other than that I would certainly recommend this place.

User

Nice Hotel and the staff are very pleasant, really nice food and the service is excellent , the wine is so expensive they really need to review this

User

Bought a package deal which included a one night bed and breakfast, a spa treatment, and a two course dinner. The room was nice and spacious but the windows were left open and it was freezing in the room, we also had an ice bucket/glasses but no water etc? Couldn’t fault the spa, the lady who showed us around was fab and attended to our every need (not sure of her name). We both had the deep tissue massage and absolutely loved it. The service at dinner was very slow, we had to constantly keep asking for things, the drinks took about 25minutes to come, there wasn’t many meal options and the food portions were far too small for the price. The guy we ordered our drinks off never came back and when we walked past him on the way out we had no apology. Breakfast in the morning was ok but again a very small portion size, although the waitress was absolutely lovely, much better staff than the dinner staff. Other than that moan we have had a nice weekend.

User

The bedroom was lovely, breakfast and evening meal was also nice, overpriced for the quality but still nice. Most staff were lovely and helpful but at check in on wed 27th the receptionist was a little rude to most people that came up to her, a few people mentioned it felt like we were an inconvenience (I tried to check in 3 times as my room was not ready so had to keep queuing every 30 minutes!). I actually witnessed the same lady be quite rude and condecending to a few people, 1 poor lady had her check in messed up as another person had checked someone into her room so she was stood at reception for over 30 minutes. Not once did anyone say sorry they just kept passing the buck. The lady at breakfast was downright rude. Before I had even settled my daughter into her highchair she takes the rest of my tables orders and said what do you want? I asked what there was so she abruptly put a menu in my hand and just walked off without a word. Another member of staff that just seemed like we were an inconvenience. Also lots of messing around with the bill trying to charge £21 for a £0 bill, took a lot of messing to get it itemized to sort out. Overall ok stay but too much hassle to want to return. Ladies at checkout and the waiting staff at breakfast were amazing and set a good example of what good customer service is. Have raised concerns directly by email over potential DPA breaches so please ensure staff are not writing your debit/credit card numbers down to be left in plain sight of the public and next to the front door were anyone could retrieve the information.

User

Overall a really good venue. Food was really good with excellent staff, especially at breakfast where the staff couldn’t do enough. Now down to the golf and the story changes. Played the sapphire course on the Sunday which was a bit scruffy and the teeing areas not so good. Greens played good. Played emerald course today and teed of at 11.40 behind a group of seniors in a comp. after 9 holes more than 3 hours had elapsed and they had lost numerous golf balls but would not let us through. On to the back 9 and one had given up so we thought the pace of play would improve slightly. How wrong can one be😡😡😡 topped it of the tenth, the next player lost his ball in the trees right but still they wouldn’t let us through. Every tee bed after the tenth had us and the group behind waiting. Some older generation golfers have no etiquette whatsoever. Ended up coming off after 14 holes as we could not bear it any longer. Spoiled the weekend a bit really, such a shame. Would think twice about going back.

User

Just got back from our 2nd visit but still wouldn't rule out a 3rd. The reception staff were very friendly and room was very clean and spacious. My only complaint was the same as the first time we visited . . Evening meal service was quite poor. Waited 25 minutes on our first visit for a drink which is unacceptable . . Last night we waited 45 minutes for our first course . . Again, unacceptable. We heard others complaining of waiting times too. The waitresses were more than apologetic but we knew it wasn't their fault. The food was exceptional but both visits incurred long wasting times. Sort this issue and you have an amazing experience

User

I booked a last minute diner, bed and breakfast deal for one night (yesterday). The staff on reception were lovely, very efficient when we checked in and out. They were very friendly whenever we walked past reception, on a few occasions taking the time out to speak to our 2 year old daughter.

The rooms are very nice, clean and spacious.

The service during the evening meal was poor. We constantly had to try get the attention of the staff to ask for different things. It was a different waiter/waitress thoughout - whoever’s attention we could get really. The food was very average, the starter - soup was cold and the main was a small portion.

We ordered some drinks via room service later on and this was very quick.

The service at breakfast was much better than the evening meal and the staff were efficient. The continental selection was really good - lots of fresh fruit, the cooked breakfast was small which was fine for me, but my husband complained he could of ate it twice.

The pool is a good size and nice and warm for the little ones (designated times for children).

User

Worst spa day experience my friend and I had ever had. The facilities are poor and equalled that if being at the local leisure centre pool for a cost of £5, complete with families & children. The spa changing rooms didn't have showers, the spa lounge wasn't inviting and we stocked the drinks sachets up ourselves after a rummage round. We asked to upgrade afternoon tea to select from the menu, as I didn't eat bread or cakes - it was declined. The treatment was clumsy and and I didn't find it relaxing. No Jacuzzi, just a steam room and sauna. Relaxation room - well if you like buzzing lights it's a winner! MacDonald spa - not on our list for a revisit unfortunately.

User

Lovely hot day but no umbrella to protect our afternoon tea experience. Cake stands fell over on outside table should have been on a tray, no offer to replace the cakes that fell and crumbled. Some of the staff lovely feel no management around

User

I booked a room with a view, but it turned out to be a view of a storage facility and the parking lot, not the lovely golf course view I was expecting based on the pictures of the room (that view was on the other side of the hotel). The staff at the reception were not able to change my room, they told me that there's no flexibility. Beware of this marketing fraud when you are booking a room that says it has a view. Definitely not worth the money.
