ItŌĆÖs a long read but some great information. Many are still unaware of the benefits of different brands and whatŌĆÖs best for their needs.
With the snow and poor weather around, donŌĆÖt get caught out with the wrong kit whilst out on your adventure. Stay dry, stay safe!

A stunning walk taking in the two famous ridges of Helvellyn then a day exploring tunnels, caverns and secret places..... a true adventure !

We think anyone and everyone can benefit from time spent outdoors....

What we have here happy wanderers is an organisation run by people with an unparalleled passion for sharing their love for accessible adventures in the outdoors. I use the word accessible deliberately because you do not have to be super fit or experienced, the team will tailor the adventure to your expectations and ability. They can do this because of the wealth of experience they have between them, yes, they are predominantly from a military back ground (good if you like the odd story of daring do or plain silliness) but this has been built upon by their civilian qualifications and experience as mountain leaders...in short they know their stuff. When I went out with them , we did Helvellyn in the lake district , it is a route which takes in two ridges which are pretty exposed and challenging. I felt completely safe , the guys will guide every footfall if needed, however they give a sense of making your own decisions. Big hills and an unknown group of people can be daunting I know , but trust me ...sign up and turn up , and at the end of what might be a tough day , your going to end up with a sense of achievement ,and probably some new friends.....Go for it ,I'm glad I did.

Marc is super friendly, very helpful and goes above and beyond. He clearly knows his stuff and is eager to share his knowledge. Thanks Marc!

I recently went on one of Maddog Adventures beginners navigation courses in the Lake District. This was a great course, I already had a slight grasp on navigation, but came away learning loads of new skills. The instructors know their stuff and are always approachable if you have any questions. I'm looking forward to going on their Snowdonia adventure in a couple of weeks and their Brecon Beacons adventure Warstories and Waterfalls in September.

If you have a zest for adventure, but don't want to feel like your going on some Army style thrashing session.

Then Maddog Adventures is for you, these guys are passionate about the outdoors and imparting their knowledge.

I contacted Mad Dog Adventures with a specific request. I wanted to challenge myself and explained that I have a massive fear of heights. With that in mind one of the team members, Marc, tailored a trip just for me. I went to The Lake District to climb Helvellyn.

I must admit I was dubious about achieving any part of it.

The weekend was absolutely amazing and very well planned and he was completely prepared for any eventuality should it arise. We were supposed to climb on the Saturday but he explained that Sunday would be a lot clearer weather wise and gave me the option to postpone to the Sunday. We did this which resulted in the most amazing clear cloudless views of the mountains that I have ever seen.

I wouldnŌĆÖt say I was a complete nightmare of a nervous wreck but with MarcŌĆÖs encouragement I achieved more than I ever thought I would. I had total confidence in him and he helped me to push myself. When I had various small ŌĆśwobblesŌĆÖ whilst climbing, he was able to talk me through each one giving me the confidence to carry on. I couldnŌĆÖt manage Striding Edge on this occasion but I made it up there to the start of it.

I most definitely would recommend using Mad Dog Adventures for their expertise in mountain leadership and I will definitely be going back next year when they return to Helvellyn in April.

I completed the basic navigation course with Maddog Adventures..

I can highly recommend this team of passionate people.. I learnt lots of new skills to practice to give me more confidence while out walking.

I went on this day on my own and felt very comfortable and safe and met some lovely new people.

I can personally recommend Marc and the team, I am not generally an "outdoorsy" person and I was apprehensive about climbing a mountain! Marc was brilliant in preparing myself and the rest of our team! I found him very calm, extremely knowledgeable and he had buckets of patience even when myself and a friend had a "wobble" about whether we would be able to achieve our goal! Marc stayed with us and with his inclusive attitude led us up and back down that mountain! It was a huge achievement for me and I know I would never have had the confidence to attempt anything like that before!! If you get an opportunity to go with Marc and the team I say take it you will be well looked after!

Beyond excellent.

Marc and his team put together a bespoke training package for my solo trip to Papua New Guinea (my first time in tropical rainforest). From extensive advice on kit before we even met up, to one-to-one navigation training and skills, best-practice hammock set ups and an incredibly thorough briefing on PNG's dangerous snakes, insects, birds, medical infrastructure as well as most common jungle ailments and infections and how to treat them - the two day course was incredible. In addition, they went through and gave me feedback on every item I'm taking with me, gave me a detailed list of kit for my medical pack (and where to get it from).

I can't recommend Mad Dog Adevntures highly enough, they went above and beyond at every step. Its incredibly hard to get this range of training, advice and support especially from one place and they absoutely nailed it. A huge thank-you again.
