Marie Myers Photography Description

I am a professional newborn and family photographer and founder of Teeny Tots Photography & Marie Myers Photography.
I truly love being a photographer and a mum of two beautiful children, who frequently put my photography skills to the test.
I started my career as a Photographer in 1998 after realising that being creative was by far, the most fun and rewarding way to make a living.
I started off as a portrait photographer and quickly decided I wanted to make a move into newspaper photography. It was at this time, I made the decision to go to college and study for formal qualifications in photography. I gained a City and Guilds qualification in photography during my three years at college and began my 15 year career as a newspaper Photographer.
In 2006, I started helping a friend out with wedding photography, photographing weddings for a few different friends. I really enjoyed the interaction with all the guests and the privilege of being involved with the bride and groom’s special day. It was lovely to get such great feedback from the happy couples and I began taking on more wedding clients, whilst working for a local newspaper also.
In 2011, I became a Mother and this introduced me to the whole new world of baby and family portraits, which is where my passion really took off!
In 2015, after having my second child, I decide to make the leap to being a freelance Photographer and co-set up a wonderful company called Teeny Tots Photography and specialise in newborn babies. Since then my knowledge has expanded immensely and I have enjoyed specialising and gaining more qualifications, specifically in safe posing, getting the best angles, what makes a great quality prop and reading babies to get the most from our sessions. I love learning and strive to be the best I can be and love to apply all I have learnt into practise and ultimately the images I create.
2019 has been an exciting year so far, with the opening of my new studio at The Barn’s in Tardebigge. I can honestly say it has been the best decision I have made. I feel my quality of work has increased again, with the use of the studio and having everything I need to hand, whether it is a wide variety of backdrops or a certain prop to finish the image off. I have worked hard to make it a really homely and comfortable experience for my clients, who can sit and relax with a hot drink, while I capture precious images of their beautiful babies. Along with the new studio, I have also taken on an assistant to help me keep on top of all the boring bits, which frees me up to take even more wonderful images.
What do I do in my spare time?
I am not sure you have spare time when you are a mum, however when I am not taxiing to Brownies, swimming lessons or other extra curricula activities then I enjoy lots of family activities from walks with our guide dog, to days out at theme parks or national trusts sites. I also volunteer for Pets as Therapy and enjoy taking our dog to support reading sessions in local schools.
I have recently submitted a body of work to the National Photographic Society and gained my Lienceniate, this qualification shows a professional level of skill in photography has been achieved, and allows me to use the LNPS letters after my name. I hope to gain my Associate qualification next.
Currently, I am doing a yearlong mentoring workshop learning fine art portraiture, and I hope to carry on to do a second year. This course is really helping to continue my detailed understanding around lighting, posing, a greater understanding of my studio setup and enables me to enter into competitions.
To conclude, I really love photography and I believe this shows through in my images. I am so passionate about capturing those precious moments of your babies, that you will cherish forever. So please, take a look around and if you have any questions just ask.
