We hope you are all enjoying December as much as we are here at Meeple Mayhem, even if it's looking like there will be no snow this year. The build up to the holiday season is always fun and here at at Meeple Mayhem that's no exception as we are giving away free drinks and cakes at both our Christmas and New Years Parties!
Today though we have a very exciting announcement, this is something we have never done before at the cafe and we hope you are all as excited as we are!... So without further ado, we are pleased to announce that at our New Years Eve party on Monday 31st December from 7pm till 2am we will have live music!
We are very pleased to welcome West of Where, also known to some of you as Sam and Shannon, who in addition to loving board games are also profession musicians! Check out their bio below and we hope you will join us this New Years Eve for an evening of great food, board games and amazing live music! West of Where are a duo comprised of husband and wife, Samuel Marks and Shannon Spreen. The two met in Boston USA at a duelling piano bar where the two of them performed. At this bar and bars across the US, Shannon and Sam performed songs from every popular genre and style, from Elvis to Nicki Minaj. Both accomplished vocalists, pianists multi-instrumentalists, they perform swapping instruments, playing piano, drums, guitar, bass and more! Having moved back to Sam's home country, the pair are touring various venues in the UK providing a high energy show full of songs people love to sing and dance to. Audiences are encouraged to participate and request material, making each night unique and enormous fun.

Christmas has come to Meeple Mayhem and we are very excited to share the festive period with you! Not only will we have the usual selection of of great games but we have a number of fantastic events designed to help you enjoy the festive period or even escape the family for a few hours! We are also excited to announce that for the entire month of December we will have the Mayhem Burger available in limited numbers (where we blend smoked bacon in with the chuck steak for the... ultimate taste sensation!)
First though we have our Christmas opening hours, make sure to check these out as we are closed for a few days after boxing day and some of the days have shorter opening hours.

We have 3 great events for you over the festive period and they are all designed to be great fun and embrace the festive spirit.
On Saturday 22nd December from 6pm until 11pm we are hosting our annual Christmas Party. Not only will everyone receive a free glass of Mulled Wine and mince pie to help get you into the Christmas spirit but we will be giving away free drinks and cakes all evening via charity raffle. We will also be bringing back our special edition burgers for the party. If you have not seen these before they include the epic Mac 'n' Cheese burger, the Mayhem Burger and the brand new Chilli Meeple, our freshly made chuck steak burger topped with cheese, bacon and a mountain of freshly made chilli!
On Saturday 29th December we will be running Escape the Chaos. Now we all love our families but over the holiday period you sometimes need a break to escape the crazy that is Christmas and we feel the best way to do that is to get together with friends and strangers to play some awesome board games! It does not matter if you are by yourself or coming down with some friends, we will introduce you to everyone and show you how to play some great games. Also, everyone that comes down will receive a free soft drink!
Finally on Monday 31st December from 7pm until 2am we are hosting our New Years Eve Party! Bored of the usual parties, well this is the event for you as not only do we have over 170 games for you to play but everyone will receive a free glass of champagne to toast in the new year, and we will be giving away drinks and cakes all evening with a charity raffle to make sure this is a New Years eve to remember!

We have a short but super exciting post for you today! Tomorrow (Saturday 1st December) from 2pm we will be hosting demos of the brand new kickstarter board game, Assassins Creed: Brotherhood of Venice! This is one of the only demos in the UK so if you would like to check out this fantastic game make sure you come down and give it a go.
The game is currently on kickstarter so whether you want to try the game before you back or are just curious, make sure you come down to the cafe from 2pm and give it a go!

Today we want to talk to you about the events we have coming up in December here at the cafe as well as one of the latest board games we have in!
Firstly, this Saturday is our monthly roleplaying day. From midday until 6pm we are running a mixture of one shots, perfect for people that are new to roleplaying or would just like to see what it is like, as well as an on going campaign for those of you that want to commit to a monthly campaign.
We are also running demos of the br...and new board game, Assassins Creed: Brotherhood of Venice! This game is currently on Kickstarter and this will be the first demo of this game in England so if you would like to try it before you back or are just curious, come on down from 2pm and give it a go!
Then on Saturday 22nd December from 6pm - 11pm we have our Christmas Party! Join us as we celebrate Christmas with a free glass of mulled wine, free mince pies, limited edition burgers, crackers, and a raffle to win a board game, cakes, drinks and more!
Finally join us on Monday 31st December from 7pm until 2am as we welcome in the new year, board game style! Not only will there be a free glass of Champagne to welcome in the New Year but we will be giving away free drinks all evening as raffle prizes.

Wow, last weekend was crazy! We hosted the Birmingham Board Game Bash for the 5th time and loved seeing so many of you trying all the awesome games! We were joined by 6 designers from around the UK who all brought their latest games down to Meeple Mayhem for you guys to try and give feedback on. Not only do we have a number of new games that we have added to the library for you to play (more on these in the coming days) but we also have the Birmingham Board Game Bash this Saturday. The Birmingham Board Game Bash kicks off at midday this Saturday (17th November) and we have a selection of excellent de...signers visiting us with their latest games for you to try. This event can get pretty busy so if you are planning on coming down to check out the games make sure you come down early so you are not waiting to join in! If you would like to come down and play our games instead of the designers have no fear, there will be plenty of tables set aside for you to use although we would recommend booking with us to ensure you get a space!

We have another awesome event for you guys this month, the Birmingham Board Game Bash 5 which is being held on Saturday 17th November from midd...ay. For those of you that have not attended one of these events before, we bring board game designers from around the UK to Meeple Mayhem. They bring their latest creations with them and they want you to playtest them, so if you would like to play awesome new board games before everyone else then this is the event for you! That's not all, you also receive a free tea, coffee or soft drink just for coming along!

Compete with your rival fixers to become the most notorious and wealthy fixer in dystopian Birmingham. Make connections with dealers for weapons, cybernetics and gear as well as customers to set yourself up as the middle man. Supply the powerful Nightlancers to get the most chips and prestige.
Fixer is a deck-building game with a unique supply and demand mechanic. 2-4 players. 1-2 hours.

Today we also received our copy of Deep Madness, a fully cooperative board game for 1-6 players with 66 amazingly detailed miniatures, depicting a sci-fi horror world inspired by H.P. Just a quick update for you this week to remind you about our Halloween Party! On Saturday 27th October from 6pm until 11pm we are throwing our annual Halloween Party, complete with ghoulish food, transfigured cakes and loads of prizes to be won if you like Halloween and Board Games then this is the event for you!

Welcome to October here at Meeple Mayhem and boy do we have some awesome events for you this month! On Saturday 6th October we have our monthly Roleplay Day from 12pm-6pm. In addition to our monthly game we are running one shots so whether you are a role play expert or someone that is interested in trying it for the first time, come on down from midday and you can join in the fun!
Then from 6pm, on Saturday 6th we are starting our Board Game Medley: 4 games, 2 evenings and ...prizes to be won. If you and your friends would like to join us for some lighter board games and a touch of competition then this is the event for you!
Then on Friday 19th October we run our Mythic Mayhem evening dedicated to the excellent board games, Mythic Battles Pantheon. A great skirmish game that throws you head to head controlling the Greek Gods and their minions in a battle to the death! This game is fantastic fun and is great for both beginners and experienced gamers alike!
Finally on Saturday 27th October from 6pm we are hosting our annual Halloween Party. Tables are beginning to be booked up so if you and your friends would like to spend an awesome evening playing board games, eating freshly cooked burgers and cakes (all transformed ghoulishly in honour of Halloween) as well as alcohol then this is the event for you! Entry is free in fancy dress and the best costume will win a board game and there will be free drinks to be won throughout the evening!
