I was a guest at a wedding yesterday 17/12 and I thought it was a lovely place. Didn't stay in a room so can't comment. Staff were all polite and helpful. Wedding food was delicious. The place was beautifully decorated for Christmas. A lovely venue for a wedding.

User

Will give 5 stars for the spa it was so nice clean and treatments were great value for money with the package we booked ! ¤śü

But then ventured to the hotel for drinks and lunch waited ages to be served as only 1 new member ( his 2nd day ) of staff on the till and a wedding party turned up !! I went and asked for more bar staff as the poor young lad was struggling with the till that he hadn't been fully trained on !!

The restaurant was empty and the young girl said she couldn't leave it !! No one helped turned up !! We waited till the wedding party left to order food !! All the way through the young lad was so professional and calm and polite and kept aplogising !!

Then the chef came out and had a go at him very unprofessional in front of customers !!! I did then have a go at the chef explaining to him all the above !!

Then all the extra staff turned up after the wedding party were seated !!

Oh and we had to send out food back as burgers weren't cooked !!

So hats off to the Spa staff and the young lad behind the bar !! U get 5¤ī¤From me

Not so impressed with the chef and management !!!

Although I will deffo use the Spa again !! Xx

I was a lovely hotel, but the rooms were extremely cold. The heaters provided to each room does not provide adequate heating’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į

User

DonŌĆÖt like the changes in the restaurant since I stayed last year, and the menu wasnŌĆÖt great, but loved my room, the pool and the service was very good

User

Disappointed asked for disabled room and parking was given room at the end of the corridor and farthest from the car park, room small and fadeded could do with a repaint and furniture.

Wish I had read the reviews on TripAdvisor first! Although it would appear that the manager, Ben Sanders seems to reply to bad reviews with excuses or criticism rather than apologies (atrocious customer service!) Thankfully only had to stay one night or we would have checked back out and demanded a refund! We were actually attending a reception at Steventon Hill Hotel (which I would definitely recommend) Anyway, we got put in Gables Cottage which is separate from the main hotel building. The entrance to our room was up a flight of stairs which was dark and smelt of damp. On first inspection our room seemed adequate, but then it became apparent that it most certainly wasn't. 1) lumpy mattress 2) lumpy foam filled pillows 3) stained toilet 4) mouldy ceiling in the shower 4) only mirror near a plug socket was inaccessible 5) dirty sink 6) rough towels 7) generally felt damp and dirty. I am surprised they even let this cottage out. Would we recommend? No. Would we stay again? NO

User

We stayed at this hotel on Saturday 29th. Apparently they did have our booking and we had to wait over 40 min for that to be sorted, despite our 8 month old kept whining as it was food time. Then got to the room which was cramped, small and dirty to have 2 single beds ¤Öä. Had to go back to the main reception which is 10 min walk through the maze , only to be told that housing will come around 6pm to zip the beds together. So, I went to the room and zipped them together myself as the baby needed sleeping at that time. Dinner was mediocre, didn't even finish my main, " the catch of the day ". However , bfast was plentiful and good quality. The staff is incredibly polite and helpful. To end this, we were sent an 'express check out bill ' under the door despite having paid in advance. This place can do better as it's set in beautiful grounds and a lovely main building.

User

Stayed in June before having to go to JR... Room was small abd dates in the outer building, bed uncomfy, rudely woken up at half7 as cleaners being loud and laughing in the corridor... cleaners then knocked and came into the room at 8am (we were checking out at 11am) why they would need to clean before we leave?! I booked through the applause club & didnt recieve my drink voucher! I have emailed the hotel on sereval occasions about my stay and no answer! This isnt your normal De Vere hotel as I've stayed in many & this is by far the worse!

User

My diary so far (and its only been 24 hours):

1. Arrive to room, which was unbelievably filthy - looked like bath hadn't been cleaned in a month and there was even hair in it;

2. Request reception to send someone to clean;

3. Wait an hour - go to reception and request again;

4. Finally cleaning crew arrives with no idea what to do. They clearly didn't seem to find the filthy state of the bath as disagreeable, and instead they clean the toilet;

5. Call back the cleaning crew, who then wash down the bath - particularly hygenic of them!

6. Call room service for dinner - no answer. Call someone and force them to take my order;

7. Request reception to send a remote for the television;

8. Go back to reception an hour later because no remote has arrived, and have to wait at reception to have one delivered as I no longer trust them to deliver to the room;

9. Discover safe is not operational this morning, and request reception to send maintenance (at around 07h30) to fix, indicating that I need it done this morning as I have to leave the hotel;

10. Go back to reception at 11h00 as maintenance still has not arrived, and am told that 'he has lots of things to do';

11. Get very annoyed, and maintenance appears soon after that;

Oh, Milton Hill House - what more do you have in wait for me?

User

Milton Hill House is a beautiful building and every member of staff that we met there was warm and professional. Unfortunately, our stay was marred by a mistake with our dinner reservation, poor quality food, a very uncomfortable bed, and a lack of cleanliness (our bathroom, carpet, and linens were all dirty). I really hope management address these issues, because the hotel feels as if is has the potential to be something really special.

User

Myself and my partner went for a half spa day which was lovely and relaxing and we could not fault our experience in the spa, however we were given a voucher for the restaurant in the main house and we were a little lost where to find it, a member of staff was very rude, stuck up and snappy when we asked for help!!! the customer service was then appalling upon entry to the bar and when we were looking through the menu ready to order there was no member of staff to be seen!!!

So we walked out.

Very bad experience, staff need some manners, will not be returning.

User

I stayed here on the 11th & 12th July and although the hotel in general is nice having to share my room in the Gable Cottages with multiple spiders was anything but pleasant!!

The Porter had to come on the first night and remove 5 spiders from my room and even after the cleaner servicing the room the next day I still had several more on the second evening, in total there were at least 10 spiders in my room over my 2 night stay with evidence of more. Although I understand you can't always control this I would hope you would have an adequate pest control programme in place but this is clearly not the case. What is even more concerning was by the amount of dust and spider webs in the room your room cleaning is clearly not up to standard.

Therefore my 2 night stay was the worst I have had in any hotel, ever, for fear of spiders crawling on my while I slept!

I sent you an email detailing my experience via your website in the hope that you might review your processes and pest control so other people wouldn't have the same experience but to date I have received no response despite being advised someone from you team would get back to me shortly.

It seems your customer service is as bad as your pest control and cleaning. Very disappointing

User

Didn't receive confirmation of my booking despite repeated requests. Was later found that they had the email address wrong.

Booked 2 rooms - one of my sons and one for myself. Was told they could be alongside each other. They weren't.

Hairs in boys room bath.

One of the single beds moved around when you leant on it.

Room service initially took order. Then rang to say too busy. Then rang again to say they could do it. Asked for plain cheese sandwich alongside other sandwiches. My son was very disappointed to have pickle included.

They gave a key to another guest of the wedding party for them to come into my room at 2.00am in the morning. Ridiculous & lucky it was me and not my sons, as I would have been even more cross than I was.

Wouldn't come again, think it was a waste of money and very disappointed with the whole experience ’┐Į

Absolutely gorgeous hotel! We stayed in the manor house. The room was amazing, very large & luxurious. This was my favorite place to stay in England. The staff were really friendly & accommodating.

I was a guest at a wedding yesterday 17/12 and I thought it was a lovely place. Didn't stay in a room so can't comment. Staff were all polite and helpful. Wedding food was delicious. The place was beautifully decorated for Christmas. A lovely venue for a wedding.

NO

My diary so far (and its only been 24 hours):

1. Arrive to room, which was unbelievably filthy - looked like bath hadn't been cleaned in a month and there was even hair in it;

2. Request reception to send someone to clean;

3. Wait an hour - go to reception and request again;

4. Finally cleaning crew arrives with no idea what to do. They clearly didn't seem to find the filthy state of the bath as disagreeable, and instead they clean the toilet;

5. Call back the cleaning crew, who then wash down the bath - particularly hygenic of them!

6. Call room service for dinner - no answer. Call someone and force them to take my order;

7. Request reception to send a remote for the television;

8. Go back to reception an hour later because no remote has arrived, and have to wait at reception to have one delivered as I no longer trust them to deliver to the room;

9. Discover safe is not operational this morning, and request reception to send maintenance (at around 07h30) to fix, indicating that I need it done this morning as I have to leave the hotel;

10. Go back to reception at 11h00 as maintenance still has not arrived, and am told that 'he has lots of things to do';

11. Get very annoyed, and maintenance appears soon after that;

Oh, Milton Hill House - what more do you have in wait for me?

Milton Hill House is a beautiful building and every member of staff that we met there was warm and professional. Unfortunately, our stay was marred by a mistake with our dinner reservation, poor quality food, a very uncomfortable bed, and a lack of cleanliness (our bathroom, carpet, and linens were all dirty). I really hope management address these issues, because the hotel feels as if is has the potential to be something really special.
