This autumn we are partnering with the Royal British Legion in their centenary year, helping them to raise funds to continue providing life-long support for service men and women, veterans and their families.

Why not plant a bulb lasagne? It's an easy way to enjoy flowers all through winter and spring. In a bulb lasagne, pots are planted up with alternate layers of bulbs and compost. The biggest and latest flowering bulbs go in first, with layers of earlier flowering bulbs on top. Two layers of bulbs will give you a beautiful spring display but, if you're feeling adventurous, you can even go for three!

Cyclamen are a wonderful flowering plant for containers. To keep them moist, water from below by setting the pot in a tray of water. This allows the plant to absorb the water as watering from above can cause the root ball to rot. They also like a feed every fortnight and remember to remove yellow leaves and spent blooms.

With hedgehog numbers declining it's more important then ever to encourage these spiky friends into your garden. Plus your Little Diggers will be so excited to see them.
Hedgehogs like to roam and can travel as much as 2km overnight to find food. Solid garden fences mean roaming is restricted so why not create a hedgehog door?
A small hole in the bottom of your fence will mean they can come and go with ease, and if you also provide a nice pile of leaves and twigs then they ...might just stay for the whole winter.
