http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environ ment-20154281 Mumbleys Farmhouse Bees Hit National News!! We were visted by BBC1 this morning which was great fun, but quite exhausting! For those of you that have already been here, check out the black tree stump at the beginning (it is Ottie the spaniel)

Still plugging away at the blog & tweeting - eleven piglets to add to the mix - photos on blog.....

Piglets expected 2nd Feb, fingers crossed! Crumble and Walter tied the knot. I am now writing a blog, so will be on here a lot less, so please follow me www.mumbleysfarmhouse.blogspot.com

Discovered the joys of juicing this week - picked wheelbarrow loads of apples and rapidly turned them into juice. Then came the problem of what to do with it all before it went off. Now have nine bottles of pasteurised apple juice, a demijohn of spiced apple wine and a demijohn of Cyser (apple mead). Only problem is the other 90% of the fruit still hanging in the trees/on the ground! Pigs and geese love apples and are getting masses as well as all the pomace, but i need to do more.....

Masses of runner beans so made a salad of warm beans, garlic vinaigrette, fresh basil and shreds of parmesan - so yummy i am making excess to put in the fridge.

Strawbale building coming on - seven lovely people gave up bits of their weekend to help with plastering inside. We have now done one long wall, one short wall and nearly all the other long wall. Special mention for Sarah and Carole who managed both days. It was great fun. Tomorrow a professional comes to start the second coat on the outside - cheating a bit, but it must get done. Photos to come...

User

Harry's wellies split along the soles big time and i was going to throw them out, but have found a better use for them - growing strawberries!! Put them outside the strawbale classroom to add to the green credentials!!

Getting really p****d off with people asking to come and see my strawbale building and then criticising it because i havent been eco enough! Ok so we compromised with a concrete base and the roof looks a bit modern (but it is recycled material) but latest person even said my straw smelt and looked bad. It is so expensive being green and i have done what i can with the budget i have....grrr
