Just added the lovely Fletcher's cider to our shelves. Their gorgeous oak aged has won a Great Taste award (a bottle will be coming home with me tonight) and their medium sweet is already a staff and visitor favourite.
So very pleased to be able to say we have both the MUST HAVE books on cider now in stock. Local authors with a world-wide reach.
We'd love volunteers to come and help in the tearoom on a Saturday. Interested? Enquiries@cidermuseum.co.ukWe'd love volunteers to come and help in the tearoom on a Saturday. Interested? Enquiries@cidermuseum.co.uk
What a wonderful sight (site?). Ambrose Burne's stunning railings which reference the history of the area have been put in by the excellent Balfour Beatty team (too many to mention!), and we are delighted. Jim's artwork drawn from the workshop he did with Lord Scudamore children is up on the walls.
Thanks to all those who have made this possible - Stef, Victoria, Cherry (who may not be with us but whose drive we'll never forget), the Herefordshire Council funding team, Jim R...eid and the Art College, Lord Scudamore School, and the great members of the community who came along on two cold occasions and got years of vegetation sorted!
Cider Apple Alley was a well used but intimidating area. It was dark, overgrown, narrow, poorly lit. Now you can stand at one end and see daylight at the other. Next up is the turfing and planting so it will be green again - but not as it was in its triffid days!
We hope the graffiti people will respect the children's artwork which inspired the artist and will leave it alone to brighten the walk for everyone.

We had such a good day at the Butter Market. Lots of kids determined to crush those apples, passers by sharing stories of orchards, village cider apple pressing and what it was like to work for Bulmers and Weston's. And I got to meet the carpenter who restored some of our scratters and other equipment when the museum first opened! Added to that was the lovely atmosphere and kindness generated by our fellow stall holders. The Butter Market is really on the up. Well done all and especial thanks to Moira for organising and getting our kit there. It was good to catch up with Wilce's, Gwatkin and Newton Court cider too.
Come and meet the hugely respected writer Susanna Forbes as she talks about her new book and the ciders which inspired it. Copies can be bought on the day! 20th Oct, Apple Day. Cider from Little Pomona Cidery will also be here on the day!
We're very pleased to have started stocking organic cider produced by two quality, award-winning Herefordian cider producers. Different styles for different occasions.
Celebrate the living history of apples and cider at this year's one day event packed full of fun things to do. Tastings of Herefordshire cider and apple juice; meet the cider producers, display of heritage apple varieties, morris dancing and much more! Refreshments and parking available. Normal admission fees apply.
And now for something completely different.
Support the museum and be scared to death at the same time!
I was so pleased to be part of this. What stood out strongly for me was the way in which cider is part and parcel of the local way of life in the Basque country, in a trinity with food and heritage. Listening to the presentations of the others from the participating countries, I was struck by what we had in common, but also the extent to which we should be proud of our local traditions. We have the world's biggest cider producer in the county but also an array of exciting craft cider producers. We have an amazing history which is so much more than supermarket sales and fizzy drinks! Quality cider deserves to be celebrated.
However, I now also want to open a cider house in Hereford with a very long table and smoked cod omelettes....
Thanks Ross Cider for finding this! I'm particularly interested in the basket woven layers between the layers of the press, and the filter by the barrels which is similar to one here at the museum.
Well what can I say other than the museum is worth a visit for sure and it gives a truly amazing insight into the cider making process and how hard the people must have worked “ back in the day “ keep up the great work
Lovely little museum, very interesting and the young ladies in the shop/reception were lovely, well worth a visit just to meet them !
It's an amazing place, everyone living or visiting Hereford should pay it a visit.
It made for a great trip out... very informative and an impressive cellar and vintage presses.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to your lovely museum this afternoon especially listening to the stories of those who worked at Bulmers. The lady on reception & in the shop was very helpful and friendly. The cake in your cafe was some of the best I have tasted and I was able to sample some of the drinks when deciding what to buy.
I have been in and about Hereford all my life .. Bulmers were a huge part of the town .. I urge all the "Locals" to go visit, there is SO much we only think we know about Cider! This is a great "day out" AND you get to buy ciders that we all remember.
Had a really nice hour or so visit to the museum the staff were so friendly and we really enjoyed learning more about the process of cider making. Highly recommend
Had a lovely few hours here, staff friendly and food was excellent.

Great visit and lovely staff, the cafe was gorgeous with a beautiful cream tea, fantastic range of ciders to and a few samples, what's not to love!
Friendly staff, great cider in the shop and an interesting couple of hours walking round, well worth a visit.
Although I have lived in Hereford for 36 years this was my first visit to the museum as we were entertaining a visitor. We all enjoyed our time at the museum. It was interesting and well laid out. We were the only visitors whilst we were there (just after Christmas) but that didn't stop the member of staff from being very friendly helpful and informative. My husband was pleased to be able to purchase a couple of bottles of cider from the well stocked shop too.

We really enjoyed our visit to the cider museum. We spent about 3 hours there which included a lovely cream tea in the cafe. The staff were really friendly and helpful.
Some interesting history on Cider making with displays to read and quite a few of exhibits showing all parts of the process. Three small samples to taste at the end of the exhibition. Start or finish with some lovely food and refreshments from the on-site cafe.
Really interesting history. The ladies in reception and in the cafe were both lovely and couldn't do enough to help. Worth a visit.
Really enjoyed our trip around the museum. If you love cider, this place is a must. Staff were very friendly and provided samples of cider with no pressure to purchase.
