National Trust The Courts Garden Description

Enjoy this classic early 20th century garden, laid out in a series of yew-hedged 'rooms' with neo-Georgian highlights such as the conservatory and temple.

Today's theme? Red and white, of course!

In this hot weather it's lovely to take a refreshing stroll in the shade of our water gardens.

Our fruit trees have been looking beautiful in their spring pinks and whites over the last few weeks. Sadly the show never seems to last long enough, but hopefully we can look forward to a good fruit crop this autumn.

User

The tulips are stealing the show in the formal gardens at the moment. If you love their vibrant colours now is the time to pay us a visit!

User

The first of our tulips are starting to appear around the garden. This one is T. 'Daytona', looking fresh and new in the sunlight. If you look closely, you'll see one of our garden residents taking an interest too.

User

It’s finally starting to feel like spring and our early spring flowers and blossoms are making the most of some very welcome sunshine!

Join the HandleBards’ all-female troupe at The Courts Garden for Romeo and Juliet as you’ve never seen it before! And what’s the play about? Well - Romeo and Juliet fall in love, despite the fact that both their families hate each other. Hilarity ensues… Well, sort of. Visit www.handlebards.com to find out more!

User

Join the HandleBards’ all-male troupe at The Courts Garden for a bicycle-powered production of Shakespeare’s ‘Twelfth Night’ like none other. In usual HandleBards style, expect riotous amounts of energy, a fair old whack of chaos, and a great deal of laughter. Visit www.handlebards.com to find out more!

Despite the snow, we will be open to visitors today. If you are planning to visit, please wrap up warm and check road conditions before you set out.

User

Important notice - Due to the current weather conditions The Courts Garden will be closed today (Sunday 18 March). We apologize for any inconvenience.

This afternoon saw the grand opening of our beautiful, new Dye Pool bridge. Ribbons at each end were cut by Isaac and Harriet, the joint winners of a drawing competition run by Holt VC Primary School. The children are regular visitors to the garden, taking part in our Forest School, which is run by gardener Rob.

After last week’s snow, this week it looks like lovely weather for ducks. And here they are, doing a few leg exercises before taking an early morning dip in the Lily Pond …

User

Snowy photos of the garden, which has been closed today due to the adverse weather conditions. Unfortunately, as it is still snowing here, we will be closed again tomorrow. Please check our website: https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/the-cour ts-garden for updates.

User

Sadly due to snow and icy conditions The Courts Garden and Rose Garden Tea-Room will be closed today Thursday 1st March.

User

Spring is on its way, so why not welcome it in with a refreshing stroll amongst the early spring flowers at The Courts Garden? We reopen for 2018 from this Saturday, 3rd February for weekends only throughout February. Then we’re back to our normal opening times (daily except Weds) from Monday 26th February. We look forward to seeing you soon!

User

Spring is in the air! The mild weather and winter sun has brought out the earliest flowering shrubs and bulbs. We should have a great display by the time we re-open for 2018 on Saturday 3rd February (weekends only throughout February).

User

Something to brighten our day: the first of the winter aconites, eranthis hyemalis are in flower. With luck, in a few weeks’ time this section of the Yellow and Blue Border will look like a carpet of green and gold!

User

What a lovely place to visit. Beautiful gardens to walk around and admire. Our visit was concluded in the quaint tea room for a toasted teacake and tea for two. Would certainly visit again.

User

Went to Courts Garden yesterday and had a lovely afternoon walking around the grounds . Plenty to see with the pond and woods really enjoyed it and I think it's the best cream tea I have had well done all that work there .

User

This is a beautiful garden, well worth a visit for all ages. We took our 7 year old Granddaughter there and she enjoyed doing the ' Find the Flower Trail '

User

One of the best national trust gardens I have visited - it's my favourite place to go - have been many times and will go many times more!

User

One of my favourite places on a sunny afternoon for a spot of lunch and an ice cream.

My sister Annie and myself took my nieces Lily 6 and Polly 3 for an Autumn half term picnic yesterday, they loved it,there is plenty of space for them to run around, and the Autumn colours are amazing, with so many trees to run around in too, they loved having a leaf fight with us,and there was also a clip board with autumn objects for them to find, its a lovely place to visit,we are local, and are frequent visitors through the year

User

My favourite garden! Fantastic place to take the children too as there are always really fantastic activities.

User

Beautifully maintained little piece of heaven and tranquility in Holt. I especially enjoyed the way the garden is landscaped into sections of formal and more informal areas. Lovely NT garden and highly recommend a visit.....

User

Beautiful grounds and gardens. Superbly maintained and a real pleasure to walk around. The onsite tea/coffee shot did amazing scones and cakes!

User

Beautiful gardens-so well kept and lovely flowers! Weather was perfect so we were lucky! Tea rooms were amazing! Fantastic cheese scones and all the desserts were amazing! My sons loved the baked potatoes too. Well worth a visit to gardens and tea room :)

User

Beautiful gardens with plenty to see and lots of hide and seek opportunities! There is a small shop at the entrance where you can pick up a spotters sheet for children.

The Tea room which is not NT is amazing and great value for money. Chilled out place to visit for a couple of hours or more if you take a picnic to eat in the orchard.

User

Another visit - great that we are local - to a lovely garden. With each new season always something new. Peaceful tranquil and well kept - with the Rose Garden Tea rooms - everyone so friendly - many a chat with fellow visitors. One of our favouriite NT gardens.

User

A very pleasant and relatively small but intimate garden with plenty of variety, which is enjoyable throughout the year. One of our favourite national trust gardens, with the Glove Factory nearby for food.

User

A lovely house in beautifully kept grounds, a lovely little surprise to walk into.

The kids loved the fairground and the helter-skelter was one of the biggest I've ever seen in my life!

User

A great place to visit with your family ; lots for your children to enjoy.

User

A beautiful garden full of surprises wonderful trees and a place of great peace and tranquility. Ooh and the tea room is fab

User

Went to The Courts garden today and had a lovely time, beautiful gardens even though the weather has been so dry, had a very nice meal in the tea rooms but unfortunately my gluten free meal was served with a dish of cous cous, when this was pointed out to the waitress she just said “oh right” . Luckily i’ve been coeliac for many years but people must take more care with their menus as youngsters or those new to the diet may well have eaten it.

We visited the Courts garden on 03.04.2017. We had amazing weather to enjoy the garden. We will visit later to see the garden changing.

User

It's a great place. Just a tip to people who run the cafe to be better stocked for bank holidays as the food I wanted had run out by 2pm

Thanks
