About North Farm Riding Establishment

Established 1968 and still under original ownership North Farm offers a range of experiences for thoses wanting to ride in the beautiful setting of Mortimer's Forest.

North Farm Riding Establishment Description

North Farm is a British Horse Society approved and South Shropshire District Council licensed riding school. With both ponies and horses available to suit the individual rider North Farm has direct access to Mortimer Forest from an unrivaled position over looking the historic market town of Ludlow. We offer rides for the complete novice to the experienced rider with instruction from Peter Dickin (Proprietor Instructor - R. D. A. Group Instructor, ABW) and his team.

Hacks through the beautiful forest avoid road work and enable riders to take in the countryside whilst learning to ride. An outdoor arena, on site cross country jumps and show jumping facilities enable us to cater to your riding needs. Group hacks, family rides, parties, private lessons and pony days are all available upon request. Rides can be one hour, one and a half hours or two hours long. We take children from the age of 7 and riders up to a maximum weight of 15 stone.

For more information please visit our website, email us or give us a call on 01584 872026. All messages are answered ASAP.

With lots of love from all your four legged faves at North Farm xxx

Truly wonderful

Riding continues tomorrow with scheduled RDA, please ensure that all riders have clean clothes, boots and hands - especially if they are in contact with other horses. Fresh clothes, not exposed to other horses, clean boots ready to dunk in our disinfectant foot bath and hands washed with antiseptic soap - better to be safe than sorry.
Fingers crossed the sunshine is warm and our RDA riders have a fantastic time!

PLEASE BE AWARE - our horses are a closed herd with shared immunity through their seclusion from others.
PLEASE DO NOT wear clothes or shoes you have worn around other horses unless they have been thoroughly washed and/or disinfected.
What is equine flu?... Equine influenza is a highly infectious disease of horses, mules and donkeys.
Symptoms in non-immune animals include high fever, coughing and nasal discharge.
It has an incubation period of between one and five days and its symptoms can persist for several weeks.
In severe cases, a horse might be unable to exercise for two or three months.
In older horses it can be life limiting and cause long term breathing problems.
Can humans get equine flu? Humans do not get infected with equine influenza.
However, people can physically carry the virus on their skin, hair, clothing and shoes, and can therefore transfer the virus to other horses.

Due to reports of equine flu in the UK it is ESSENTIAL that riders have clean clothes and boots when riding with us. We have suffered the devastating consequences of this before and ask, especially if you ride elsewhere, that your boots and clothes are thoroughly cleaned before you visit us.
Thank you.
"All racing in Britain on Thursday was cancelled late on Wednesday night after three cases of equine flu were confirmed in a stable that had runners at Ludlow and Ayr on Wedn...esday."

Wow ! First Riding lesson completed today with Peter. His Patience & Knowledge is fantastic. Peter took me through so many things step by step in a way that was easy to understand & was full of praise when I got it right. I'm 'Buzzing' & Now can't wait for my next Lesson - Well Done Peter for making an 'old girl' happy. ☺️

User

I first started riding at North Farm when I was 5. I still visit regularly now, at 49 years old, because it is the best riding experience you can have. Peter has developed the formula of riding in a beautiful forest (no roadwork at all) with a mixed group of novice and experienced riders. But the novices feel safe and instructed, and the experienced get a lot of exciting cantering and never feel held back. Peter, you are amazing, please don't ever stop!

User

I couldn't recommend North Farm more! Precious memories from Pony Camp days gone by brought up to date by a recent trip with my disabled mum. Linda was so helpful with our booking and enquiries, Marni was lovely looking after us on the day, and Peter, just as I rembered him! Such fun on a rainy summer day, couldn't have been better! :)

User
