I have been drinking at the Norton for many a year, Trev is a fabulous manager and his team are always energetic and smiling when working.

Food is great too, lovely deals.

96% of the times we go are fantastic. Food is great and have been going for years. The manager needs to cheer up but all the other staff are as nice to you as you are them. They always try to be helpful and they can take criticism and learn from it. Been going there over 20 years. Can’t be perfect every time but much better than other places.

My meal was fine I had a burger my husband had steak and ale pie the filling was really nice but the pastry was like rubber not sure if it was microwaved or not but didn't taste as good as it looked could do with more choice on light bite meals as the normal meals are really too big

Called in yesterday with two hungry grandchildren , made to feel welcome by Jess our waitress , drinks arrived quickly , plenty of meal choices for children reasonably priced . A short wait for food which came piping hot , followed by the 'best' brownies ever :) two happy children and Grandma . Thank you Jess , we will return :)

Norton Grange is an average sort of pub with food. Last night (Thursday) we were told there was a 45 minute wait for food. The breaded mushrooms were like lead shot with wilted dry leaves. The mains did take the full 45 minutes but were ok. The waitress who was Tessa I think was great she managed 7 grumpy old men and actually made the evening at this pub enjoyable.

My wife & I have been regular visitors to the Norton over the years & there have been some good days & some bad days over that time. We called in on a Saturday afternoon a few weeks ago with our daughter, her partner, & our 10yr old grandaughter & although quite busy the service was good, as was the food. We called in again yesterday afternoon (Tues 22/5/18) with 2 friends & this turned out to be a 'bad' day. Arrived about 4pm & place was virtually empty. Member of staff asked if we wanted any drinks, which we ordered & were delivered to our table. We then wanted to order some food only to be asked if we would mind going up to the bar to order as the young lady said she was on her own & was also serving drinks elsewhere. We ordered our meals & after a wait of 45 minutes (THE PLACE WAS ALMOST EMPTY!!) I asked another member of staff as to when we we going to get our meals. She said she was sorry & would go and enquire if the meals had been prepared, also saying "was short of staff". Sorry, but that's YOUR problem - not ours! After disappearing into the kitchen she returned almost immediately with our meals. Our friends meals were generally ok. My wife & I had the liver, bacon, & onions which were, again, generally ok but the mashed potatoes were a touch overcooked, bit crusty, & were very dry suggesting these had been kept warm for a while. Moving on to the puddings, our ladies just had ice- cream which was ok. Us guys had the jam roly-poly which looked overbaked & was very dry. The portions of custard were very small, not much bigger than an egg cup, so we ordered an extra portion which didn't arrive much before we finished eating & for which we were also charged an extra £1. Sorry guys, for us you didn't get it right this time.

Food was great , service was so slow and even though it was waitress service I ended up at the bar . Tables a bit on top of each other.

User

I picked here for my birthday coz i love this place sadly not anymore it really spoilt my birthday and left me feeling rather deflated sorry but i wouldn't go back again only gave it 2 stars coz we was refunded on the 3 meals that was sent back!

User

Would give 0 star if i was able to. Went there on sunday for a family members birthday a few family members had the carvery which was absolutley disgusting which they wasnt able to eat. The beef was tough and non eatable and the potatoes rock hard. My meal came out which had a big hair stuck right in the middle of it. Staff didnt seem bothered when we complained. Manager is horrible. And i wont even get started on the toilets... absolutely vile. Wont be going there for food again.
