We came to the Porterhouse for one drink but ended up staying for more. James was fast, wonderful, helpful, chearful and made us feel so welcome despite him being very busy. We will definitely come again.

User

We booked online and got a great deal. Once there we upgraded to the ‘Suite’ which was spacious, had a big bed and great shower. The staff were really welcoming and helpful!

Ate in the restaurant for our evening meal and breakfast and again thought it was great with a range of food and prices to suit everyone.

We’d recommend the place and we’ll certainly be going back again later in the year!

User

Visited yesterday for a festive works lunch, we were not disappointed. The ambience was perfect, warm cosy and festive but still bang up to date. Food was gorgeous, the Sprout lovers amongst us couldn’t get enough of the shredded sprout dish!! Service was prompt, friendly and efficient. Thanks to all . Merry Christmas xx

User

Today my wife and I had a few hours of the kids and decided to treat our selves to a meal out . After walking round Shrewsbury we decided on Porter house . Service was great really friendly and after being shown to out table we ordered our food . I had the ribeye steak and my wife had the Steak Salad ( Black and a blue Cheese ) ! The best steak I have eaten in a long time and my wife was so pleased with hers she let me try some to which I was also very pleased with ! We're already thinking when we can come again and just want to thank you for a amazing evening . So pleased we chose to visit Porter House .

My daughter and I stayed at Porterhouse for one night...The room was amazing (the suite)...worth paying more for...we ate a sharing board on our last day...it was very tasty... staff were really friendly and eager to help...would definitely go back again..:-)

I Love quirky places - and really enjoyed lunch here today - great prices and great service !

User

Great place, fantastic cocktails, friendly staff, one of our favourite places where we won’t be strangers. Particularly love the decor, beautifully put together.

User

Fantastic work’s Christmas lunch, Porterhouse were very accommodating even though we were an hour late arriving (sorry ). Food was lovely, empty plates all round. I’ve no doubt we’ll book again next year. Well done guys!

User

Fantastic and perfect in everyway! The cocktail selection is superb and the food even better! The Porterhouse steak has to be the best around and worth a trip just for this! Really enjoyed our evening there and will definitely be back!

User

Booked to have lunch while in Shrewsbury Christmas shopping with my husband. Lovely Christmas atmosphere, staff were friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. Tasty and well presented. Very reasonable price. Will definitely recommend to friends/family and will be back again. Thank you!

User

We loved coming to the Porter House we always had great food and service, we went in on the weekend to find it had changed to Darwin’s Kitchen! Still a lovely place to eat with great staff and nice food but it’s a complete change from what we have been used to.

User

Lovely food, staff very friendly and a good atmosphere, and good company x

User

Had a very nice dinner and overnight stay at the PorterHouse. Food was well cooked and presented. Very friendly and efficient staff. Lovely room, elegantly furnished with a comfortable bed although a little too warm over night. Overall, very good.

User

Food was average. Small portions and mostly onion in the 'mozzarella bites" complete with one slice of beef tomato. Great chicken tenders. Great 'mystery cocktails' ; happy hour is great, atmosphere good but the main highlight was James (bar manager I think) who is brilliant and accommodating!!! Worth coming back for cocktails but eat before you leave!

User

This is my second visit to Porterhouse in a week. Last Friday my husband and I popped in and had a meal. I had the soup and burrito and it was very nice. My husband had the mozzarella sticks and steak which was also superb especially the large tasty mushroom. Unfortunately another selfish lady decided to light up a cigarette in the outside area and the patio doors were opened. The table of 6 behind us had already moved. We decided against a dessert and paid the bill. However when we mentioned it to the guy we paid he was not in the least bit apologetic, he said he was 'dealing with it' which was nonsense as nobody even told her it was against the law to smoke indoors. But he just brushed it off making us feel very undervalued as customers.

Anyway my good friends at work decided we needed some social time and I was invited too on Wednesday. It was steak night and my boss and I ordered two steaks and a bottle of wine. We did book our table tonight so there should have been more staff. We had to ask for our bottle of wine twice before it arrived. Normally you receive complimentary spicy popcorn when you have ordered but our table didn't receive this which was disappointing as it's lovely. We booked our table for 7.30 and didn't get our mains till 9.40, it took ages - however the steaks were delicious tasting. We felt the service was appalling. On receiving the bill luckily my colleague checked it and we had been charged full price for the wine instead of £40 for 2 steaks including wine! Good try guys. My boss wasn't impressed with the length of time the meal took - shame because the food is very good.

User

Food was pretty decent, the porterhouse burger was particularly good, and they made a my daughter a meal specially as there was nothing she wanted on the kids menu. But the Service really spoiled it, very slow and we had to keep asking for drinks that we had ordered numerous times, it also took them half an hour to serve 2 deserts. It wasn't that busy either. Overall Food great, service needs work.

User

Food good, a couple of vegetarian choices but £5 for a shandy! Try and drink before you go to eat.

User

Busy and noisy; not necessarily a bad thing but much of the din was down to children. Uncertain whether I was in a past-favourite drinking hole or a crèche. Additionally £13.20p for a pint of Estella and a glass of white wine kind of took my breath away (I thought Drapers was expensive; perhaps you pay more for the superior ambience). Will not be rushing back; should have gone to Henry Tudor House, The Armoury, House of the Rising Sun, or The Alb. Lesson learnt.

User

Terrible service and food.

Went yesterday lunchtime for a meal, food took a hour and a half from ordering to come then when it did it was terrible!

First meal was steak, ok but small

Fajitas only ok again, no plate to make them on had to ask the girl for one.

Beef Ribs had far too much BBQ sauce on it was drenched in it, also no meat on them what so ever.

Spatch cook chicken was tiny! Still hungry afterwards.

Waiter started taking plates when one person was still eating, even asked a plate to be took while that person was eating! I mean if that isn't rude I don't know what is...

also noticed another table complaining!

Great place, fantastic cocktails, friendly staff, one of our favourite places where we won’t be strangers. Particularly love the decor, beautifully put together.

Fantastic work’s Christmas lunch, Porterhouse were very accommodating even though we were an hour late arriving (sorry ). Food was lovely, empty plates all round. I’ve no doubt we’ll book again next year. Well done guys!

Fantastic and perfect in everyway! The cocktail selection is superb and the food even better! The Porterhouse steak has to be the best around and worth a trip just for this! Really enjoyed our evening there and will definitely be back!

Booked to have lunch while in Shrewsbury Christmas shopping with my husband. Lovely Christmas atmosphere, staff were friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. Tasty and well presented. Very reasonable price. Will definitely recommend to friends/family and will be back again. Thank you!

We loved coming to the Porter House we always had great food and service, we went in on the weekend to find it had changed to Darwin’s Kitchen! Still a lovely place to eat with great staff and nice food but it’s a complete change from what we have been used to.

Had a very nice dinner and overnight stay at the PorterHouse. Food was well cooked and presented. Very friendly and efficient staff. Lovely room, elegantly furnished with a comfortable bed although a little too warm over night. Overall, very good.

Food good, a couple of vegetarian choices but £5 for a shandy! Try and drink before you go to eat.
