First visit yesterday, food was delicious especially dessert. Great service from the staff. Lovely views from the restaurant. Will definitely be returning.

User

Fantastic - Took my mum for a lovely cream tea lunch. Beautiful sandwiches and delicious cakes! Gorgeous views and super friendly staff! Will definantly be returning!

User

6 ladies went for afternoon tea yesterday. The selection and quality of the food was brilliant and the coffee and tea was plentiful. One of our party was in a wheelchair and the staff had no hesitation in moving the chairs around to accommodate it. The best afternoon tea I’ve ever had

User

we loved it. It was a surprise birthday afternoon tea for my daughter who is 6 tomorrow and my other daughter who was 5. They loved all the activities and the service was super. The lady really made it special. However, one little thing I would add is a few more sandwiches and less cakes. And also a possible choice of plain sandwiches so kids would eat more.

User

Very nice place never been before lovely seafood starter followed by rump steak very good food

User

The afternoon tea was good, they have done better ones in the past including quiche and more savoury foods there was a bit too much cake but the staff were great and the view in the new conservatory as well as the sound of the rain on the roof was really relaxing, could have stayed there all day

User

Perfect for a pint on the way home!

We booked a table for our wedding anniversary here last night, as we thought it would be nice to go back to the place where we had our wedding reception.

First off, the maître d' was lovely, very helpful and polite. However the waitress was very loud, and shouted as she walked to the table; “what drinks can I get you?” Rather than asking when she arrived at our table. Was also very loud, when talking to other customers.

The let down about the whole evening was the main meals and the deserts.

We had Camembert and bread for starter to share; this was very nice.

However; my husband had the 10oz New York Strip. It was chewy and full of gristle. He had to spit most of it out.

I had the Mixed Grill, the steak hadn’t been tenderised and was not medium rare; it was pink and no blood from the steak, it was also very chewy. The egg was undercooked, and the pork chop and gammon tasted burnt from the grill rather than flame grilled. Black pudding was also cremated.

Deserts; my husband explained that he wasn’t happy with his steak to the maître d' and she offered him a free desert.

He chose the toffee Churros which was very nice, I opted for the Black Forest Cheesecake; to which I found a short black hair in it. The maître d' apologised and gave me a fresh desert. The cheesecake - wasn’t cheesecake, it was a biscuit base in a jar with thick whipped cream and cherries with sauce. No tase of cheesecake at all - but if a con for £5!

All in all, it was a pretty bad evening. We were very disappointed because the last time we attended the Quicken Tree, we had a fantastic experience, great food and even a bottle of wine on the house to celebrate our anniversary.

Such a shame the chef and waitress let the maître d' down.

Won’t be attending again.

User

Great setting and lovely decor however the food really let the place down. Starters were all fine however mains were inedible as cold and everything overdone as if hey had been sat waiting for us to finish our starters. A real shame as waitress/waiter were polite and great with the kids but no apology for manager for the food and nothing taken off the bill. Disappointed.

We went for Sunday dinner, had a table booked for 4pm for five of us. I received a call from the restaurant telling me that the Head Chef wasn't in and they could only do roast dinners and if required, a steak. I said that's fine and we would still be coming - perhaps I should have taken that as an omen!!! We eventually got seated about 4.15pm and they took our orders - 2 roast beef dinners and two steaks - one medium and one medium/WD. Also a child's meal. When we eventually got our meal nearly an hour later, the medium steak was burnt, and the beef dinners were stone cold. We told the staff about this and the beef dinners were taken away, the veggies and gravy left on the table to go cold and the person whose steak was burnt, was told they would do them another steak. Eventually (after about another 20 minutes) the beef dinners were brought out - we were then asked if we wanted fresh veg and gravy and as these were now cold, we said yes .... so we started to eat our dinners with no veg!! When the veg was bought out, it was portions for only one person, not two!!! At this point we were losing the will to live, let alone eat what food we eventually got!!! Left half of it as we had lost our appetites. In the meantime we were still waiting on the steak, and after eating the rest of the meal before that went cold, the steak was brought out on its own!!! Although the manager did ring and tell me there was a restricted menu, I did expect the things they did do to be done well!!! The manager was very apologetic about what happened and did take the beef dinners off the bill along with a couple of drinks but as my niece said to me, I'd rather have paid the full bill and had a good meal rather than get money off and have a crap experience, although it still came to £50!!!! Not sure I will do as the manager asked and give them another go - expensive mistake to make!!!
