Being Awenydd – the British Celtic name for the shaman – is about knowing our place in the whole, our interconnectedness, and walking the deer-trods which are the pathways that link us to the rest of creation.

Both the 1yr Apprenticeship and the 3yr Rainbow Warrior training are experiential and consist of journeys, exercises and craft work each season, as well as reading and storytelling, so you learn by doing.

The 8 lessons of the Apprenticeship are . . .
1. THE BONES OF THE WYRD – a first look at the worlds, wyrd, the web.
2. JOURNEYING – how to journey; practical exercises.
3. FAMILIAR SPIRITS – meet your familiar spirit
4. LOWERWORLD: THE ANCESTORS – who are the ancestors?
5. UPPERWORLD: THE TEACHERS – who are the Teachers?
6. MIDDLEWORLD: the spirit-part of the everyday world where we work.
7. CELTIC TOTEMS – your spirit-group, your otherworldly family.
8. SACRED DUALITY – the way the Wyrd works and how we work with it.

This gives you the basic skeleton on which to build. If you wish to continue Rainbow Warriors takes you on to discover and remember …
• Spiritual anatomy – including the Celtic chakras.
• Biodynamics – shamanic gardening and farming .
• Healing – which is about looking, listening, thread-twining and weaving.
• Walking Between Worlds – seeing and working across time & space.


All through the apprenticeship and training you’ll be remembering that the rest of creation – animals, insects, birds, plants, rocks, stars, planets – are all our Elder Brothers and how we need to listen and learn from them all the time. You also learn to make mistakes successfully – a vital skill if you want to learn anything – and that “evil” is “live” spelled backwards.
