Raw Yoga Fitness & Wellness Description

UK Yoga Teacher, specialising in Ashtanga Yoga. I teach traditional Yoga with a particular focus on building strength and flexibility whilst quieting the chatter of the mind.

Wherever you are on your Yoga journey; whether you're new to Yoga or looking to further your practice, my aim is for all students to leave my classes feeling physically challenged, more in tune with their bodies, their environment and to feel a greater sense of well-being and clarity seeping into all areas of their lives off the mat.

Practicing yoga has proven to be an effective treatment for many medical conditions including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, back pain and joint pain, obesity, depression and other mental health issues.

My lovely friend Alex is co-hosting his first vegan festival next month and it's going to be wonderful! There will be live music and DJs, food, clothes, treatments and talks. I will be cramming all I know about staying healthy on a plant-based diet into a one hour lecture in the afternoon. You don't have to be vegan to attend. One of my favourites. Can be done with or without the kettlebell. Helps to build strength in the supportive muscles in the feet and ankles. Strengthens muscles around the lower back and hips and improves hip mobility. **ASHTANGA YOGA CLASSES** *EVERY TUESDAY & THURSDAY EVENING AT 6.30PM AND SUNDAY MORNINGS AT 8.30AM*
The method of practice taught in Ashtanga Yoga relies on the linking of yoga postures through prescribed movements and incorporates the synchronisation of deep, rhythmic breathing and movement with a steady gaze. The practice builds heat in the body to burn away toxins, strengthening and purifying the nervous system. It offers a meditative experience for the practitioner, enco...urages introspection and, with a consistent practice, brings a deep sense of contentment and inner peace. A side effect of the practice is a strong, light and agile body.

Every posture in the ashtanga yoga method has a drishti (a point of gaze). There are 9 drishtis in total.. the nose, between the eyebrows, thumbs, hands, toes, navel, up, to the right and to the left. Drishti is a very important part of the practice. 🌍 Prakriti is the material world; nature, matter, thoughts, feelings, the senses. Purusha is consciousness or pure awareness. Without Prakriti, Purusha cannot know itself. It is only through nature, through life, that consciousness can become aware of itself. All life is a spontaneous work of art. Consciousness does not care for how it experiences itself. Consciousness is not bound by materialism or morality. If we destroy life on earth, consciousness doesn't care. Consciousn...ess will find ways to exist whether through humans, fish or cockroaches. We won't destroy life, we will simply destroy our world as it is now. The question is are we aware enough to realise the disaster that approaches for our world? Are we selfless enough to recognise how our own actions affect our future? We change the future not by asking our governments to act, we change it by looking at ourselves. Through introspection we find how we may be contributing to the problem.
