About Redditch Rugby Club

Redditch Rugby Football Club is a major section of a popular multi sport club, located handily near the centre of Redditch.

Redditch Rugby Club Description

Redditch Rugby Football Club is a major section of a popular multi sport club, located handily near the centre of Redditch. As it approaches the 50th anniversary of its post war re-formation, the Rugby Section caters for the whole family from mini and juniors, a competitive ladies’ touch side, through the senior grades playing in local League and Merit Tables, to a popular men’s veteran side who wear pink because they can!

The club is fully accredited with the RFU in all sections and is Clubmark approved.

Our 1st team pitch is a fully enclosed playing surface with county standard floodlighting. There is also a floodlit training area and junior pitch as well as two other rugby surfaces. A weight room and en suite changing facilities for each team complete the Rugby facilities.

We share a fully licensed bar, complete with satellite TV with large screen projector and large paved car park, with other sections. This means that the bar is open daily and the beer is always fresh. The club rooms are family friendly and play host not only to after match festivities but also regular social functions.

The site has a cricket pitch to Birmingham League Standard as well as a floodlit Astroturf Hockey pitch, which is also used for 5 a side football. Both the cricket and hockey sections have thriving junior sections and it is not unusual for family members to take part in a range of sports on the one site.

The 4th major sport catered for is squash where a growing section competes in the local leagues on our two first class courts.

Contact us on 01527 62807, or simply drop into the club in Bromsgrove Road, Redditch, to introduce yourself.

You will be assured of a friendly welcome.

Here is an interesting challenge submitted by former 1st Team Player Kenny Hadley...
Pick a Redditch 1st Team purely by the first person who comes in your head for that position based on your time at the club and the years you obviously played.
You can’t pick yourself but interesting to see how the teams may change.
... Remember your not saying this is the best team but just the first name you associate with that position.
Good Luck and this is myself 1st Team based on this process
Mick Payne. Prop Adrian Derrick. Hooker Warren Dalby Prop Lee Williams. Lock Gary Carter. Lock Mark Rose. Blind Andrew Douglas Eight Tim Harris Open
Neil Hodgkin (Plank) Scrum half Gareth Davis fly half Joe alekna inside centre David Brisbourne outside centre Paul Hughes Wing Tom Elmes Wing Andy Irvine fullback

For our final 7s tournament of the summer we headed over to Aston Old Eds for their social tournament.
L-R: Back - Loran Abbotts (VC), Mike Allen, James Roberts, Luke Kerins (Coach), Matt Allen (VC), Mike Adams. Fromt - Joe Looker, Clarke Parker, Peter Hunt (Capt), Rafa Jarka, Lucas Bates, Kit Hemming (VC).
... The lads started off much better than their previous tournaments and played some really good rugby against Five Ways, and were in the game until the last minute conceding two late tries. A long break scuppered any chance against Birmingham Civils before we took on Aston Bears. A tight first half saw us just ahead and then we came out in force during the second half and came away victors! Finally we faced old nemesis Dixonians and put together a much better performance to just come out 2nd best. After other teams pulled out we ended up in the plate final again versus Dixonians where unfortunately a hat trick from their top player dashed our hopes as fitness showed! As always a great showing by all the 7s lads!
Pre season starts this Tuesday so make sure you are there!
