Rhythmic Drumming is a new business based in Coventry which specialises in music theory and snare drumming.
Our instructor Kyle Smith has been playing the snare drum for over ten years with various different bands. Kyle’s highest achievement to date is achieving 2nd place in the world championships. For the past five years Kyle has spent his time teaching adults and children of all ages and abilities and performing in the United Kingdom and across the world. Some of these locations are below:
England, Scotland, Ireland, Malta, Moscow, Vietnam, Singapore
Most recently Kyle returned from a year long stay in Australia where he was performing regularly with various artists and also teaching snare drumming in three primary schools. Now arriving back in Coventry he would like to share his knowledge, passion and experience in the west midlands.

Rhythmic drumming’s key teaching points:
• Understanding note and rest values
• Understanding how time signatures explain the music
• Counting rhythmic patterns
• How to correctly hold the drum sticks in traditional grip
• Learn snare drum rudiments
• Understanding the history of snare drumming
• Be able to correctly compose ‘drum scores’
• Working together in a ‘Drum Corps’ to build a team
• Learning dynamics and expression
• How to correctly tune and maintain your musical instrument
