About Ruskin Glass Centre

Following a £1. 4m refurbishment, made possible thanks to funding from Advantage West Midlands, the site that once was home to the glass trade greats of Royal Doulton and Webb Corbett is continuing to help the glass trade thrive in Stourbridge.

Ruskin Glass Centre Description

The Ruskin Glass Centre is home to a wide array of glass crafts; from glassblowing, respected studio glass artists, stained glass, engravers, glass decorators, glass enamels and glass repair specialists to the diverse yet complementary trades of creative woodwork, handmade soap, cake making, jewellery, textiles, printmaking, stone carving and publishing.

There is also a brand new 30 cover cafe on site serving high quality fresh organic snacks, meals and desserts

We met in the cafe for a family gathering. The lunch menu was lovely and there were so many interesting workshops to look around. We spent ages chatting to the stonemason in particular, it was really fascinating. Thanks for a lovely day out, we'll definitely be back soon!

User

We arrived rather late to explore this lovely place but what we saw and the people we met make us want to go back...

Visited the Ruskin for their Bohemian Bazaar & Vintage this Saturday. Beautiful weather and lots to see. Interesting range of stalls and some amazing food! Not a huge affair and maybe more visiting crafters would have been beneficial. That said a lovely way to spend a couple of hours. Such a lovely setting.

The work that's going on at the Tuskin centre - educational; craft; art - is inspirational. The quality in every area us outstanding, and exemplified by Kevin Barry of Kevin Barry Crystal. He cuts crystal to transform it from simply lovely, to exquisitely beautiful. He has a background and training in traditional designs based on the apprenticeship he served with Webb Corbett, and is able to replicate those traditional designs as well as applying the traditional skills to his own, very special, modern designs. He's happy, and generous enough, to pass on his skills and knowledge to others, for no other reward other than personal satisfaction. He's trained young adults with learning difficulties to produce beautiful things in glass, thereby developing their life skills, their confidence, and their employability, and for me, as a very satisfied customer, he invited me to spend an afternoon with him, when he gave freely of his time and expertise to teach me what's involved in glass cutting.

I believe he's the pinnacle of the wonderful experiences provided at Ruskin Glass Centre - I always leave with a smile, and defy anyone not to leave with a sense of pleasure and satisfaction. WELL worth a visit!

User

Really enjoyed the fused glass workshop at Tranparent Glass Studio. Would recommend.

User

Lovely venue and a great concert. Determined to go back and see what is going on there in the daytime.

User

Just spent a great afternoon talking to talented artists and browsing their work! Needs to be shouted about! Such talent!

User

Ive been going to the Christmas fair at the Ruskin centre for the last few years. I love the mix of real crafts people who always have time to chat about what they are making and that are there with some unusual gift ideas that are unique one offs. The theatre performance of the Elves and Shoemaker was a added bonus for my little niece and she loved getting her face painted

Great place to visit.

User

Great place to shop or just have coffee. An oasis of calm and creativity in a mad, mad world!

User

Came for the biennale. A real hidden gem and worth travelling to.

User

Brilliant place. I bought the most beautiful engraved glass candle holder from Kevin Barry Adams and the hot chocolate drink from the cafe was the best I had ever had. There is also a good sized car park. I will definitely be revisiting in the near future.

User

A real gem. Love this place. Fifth workshop attended with Paul Floyd. Glass fusion. Check the centre out, you wont regret it

User

A place that should be cherished and adored. Wonderful artists and a wonderful atmosphere. Everyone should do their Christmas shopping here.

User

A great place to shop for local, handmade crafts and to support the Glasshouse college which does great work with students who have Autism and learning disabilities. Look out for the fantastic craft fair at Christmas.

User

A comfortable and well equipped facility. Easy to hire, competitive pricing and helpful management. I would recommend it to anyone.
