We are currently undertaking a major conservation project to greatly improve the hedgerow habitat in the park. Working alongside conservation partners at Warwickshire Wildlife Trust as part of the Heritage Lottery funded Dunsmore Living Landscapes project, the ambitious target of planting a mile of improved and new hedgerow is now in full swing. Some 6000 trees of 13 species have arrived with the commencement of planting beginning a week ago. In addition to staff planting fla...t out, our volunteers have given an incredible 180 hours towards this project this week alone!!
The species mix has been specially selected to benefit the widest range of invertebrate and birds as possible and will become a valuable asset to the habitats in the park, going some way to reverting the ongoing decimation of hedgerows in the wider countryside. In Britain 23% of our hedgerows vanished between 1984 and 1990 alone.
We have now completed over a mile of new and improved hedgerow at Ryton Pools with the the current planting tally at 5,550 trees! We still have 450 trees left to be block planted for some of our rarer Butterflies which will be completed on 2nd April, any help on this date would be greatly appreciated!

* After almost 15 years of service the carpet in the classroom is definitely due a change!

What a fab place. We loved it! We only got to do half of it as it started to rain and were weren't prepared for that! Brilliant cafe with great gluten free options for my children. We will be back!

We went to the park for the first time today and absolutely loved it!Definitely coming back soon.Plenty of lovely areas to discover and take photos.Lots of benches and picnic areas to rest and nice cafe too near the visitor area.Highly recommend to visit.

We went on the summer wild camp out and it was fantastic. Our hosts Ben, Craig, Ben & Craig were brilliant. The activities kept my boys entertained and they loved every minute xxx I don't think the boys could decide what was the best activity they loved all of it from bats, baby toads, toasting marshmallows and drinking their hot chocolate round the camp fire whilst telling ghost stories. We all had a great time. A big well done to the hosts you did a fab job xxxx Thankyou for a top weekend 👌🏼👌🏼

We visited Ryton Pools today for the first time since 1998 and were very impressed with the changes. We were extremely happy to be able to hire a mobility scooter and made the whole experience even better as my poor hubby didn't have to push me in my usual wheelchair. It would be great if other parks, etc were also to offer mobility scooter hire. The pools and grounds were a delight to walk/scooter round and the staff were lovely and helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed our time there and will be back soon. Thank you.

User

We love ryton pools and think that the annual pass Is exceptional value for money.

HOWEVER, what annoys me more than anything is that the cafe is far from doing its bit to be environmentally friendly and fall in line with the war on plastic. On the basis that they don’t legally have to provide tap water (as they don’t serve alcohol), they don’t. As a n alternative, you are advised you can buy bottled water or go back into the visitors centre where the staff can provide you with water. When we are a facing an absolutely catastrophic ecological event due to plastic consumption and a cafe within a natural eco-friendly setting can’t/won’t provide tap water but encourages the sale of plastic bottles, I’m not sure what hope there is left to safeguard our planet!!

Please sort it out Ryton! Their attitude is unfairly bringing down your reputation!

User

Thanks very much for a fab 6th birthday party for my son and 14 of his friends this afternoon. They had a great time designing & then launching their pop bottle rockets

The ranger was really helpful. Hope it doesn’t take too long hoovering up the crushed pombears!!

Lovely family day out with plenty of places to stop for a picnic(plus a cafe if preferred) and two nice size park's for the kids too. Also now have a pirate trail which is brilliant for the kids and adults! We've been coming here on and off for a few years now and have always enjoyed it and we'll continue to keep coming back too.

User

Love it there been going since I was a kid, although their ice cream vans are so expensive and that's after they've tried charging for 5 ice creams instead of 3. Add it up yourselves as they will try and charge you for more than what you have.

User

I was looking for something to do with two adventurous boys (climbing the walls after 2 wet days in the house) and was pleasantly surprised by what there was here. There's something for all ages! The lady in the information centre was delightful and gave us loads of info when we explained we hadn't found the ducks......that was because in 3 hours we'd only seen half of the park! I can't wait to return.

User

I have been coming here for years and love it every time.

Not overcrowded and the play areas for the children are fantastic.

I took my 8yr old here last night to the summer wild night and it was amazing. Ben and Craig are extremely knowledgeable and are clearly passionate about their jobs. Well done guys, a credit to Ryton Pools

Fantastic little park, perfect size walks for little legs and lots to keep them occupied. 2 very nice play parks, a lovely pirate walk that the kids loved and picnic are and a great miniature railway, couldn't fault it we will be back again.

Been going here for Years and have watched it transform. Walking, cycling, train rides, two play areas for kids and a great little cafe serving food and drink. Preserving nature and memorials to family members and friends who have loved this place too. The annual pass is very reasonable and helps to fund the upkeep and continued preservation of this beautiful tranquil country park.

User

Beautiful place to enjoy nature and great pathways for walking, cycling and disabled people. £3.50/car is value for money x tasty treats in the cafe. Special areas around the pools for children to play and enjoy. Highly recommend and will definately return

User

Went with my kids on Monday for last day of hols, we got in at 4 so was cheaper parking by 50p, hadn't been since last year and noticed the new pirate play area which kids enjoyed, walked up to the other play area by lake and found this had all been finished (top part was fenced off last year) kids loved this area too, especially the long slide and zip wire also covers all age ranges, whereas pirate one is more for younger children. Grabbed an ice cream from van which was £2 for a 99 bit pricey as where I live vans charge £1.20. Walked back and wandered along the piratre trail, found the children's wood, which we didn't know existed before, had an explore and looked at the dens people had made. Finished off the pirate trial and went to the bee wall and spotted a big slug on the path, had another play in the pirate area before coming home. Was a great few hours spent at a good price, couple of things tho, toilets don't stay open till 7, there is a lot of sand from sandy area in the pirate play area on the floor which does make it a slip hazard as we witnessed a little girl slip over when she got off the slide and could do with some more swings for older kids in both play areas too. But would recommend to all and will be back when the train is on as kids loved that last year before weather starts to turn. Also have no issue paying at machines rather than barrier, as no queuing at barrier to get in then

User

We visit here on a weekly basis and have the annual pass!! My boys love it and we usually cycle round the pools feed the ducks and then the boys play in the park. The guys in the cafe are always friendly and the ice cream is great. My only suggestion would be to have some shade maybe sails in keeping with the pirate theme?

User

We had a family day out. Playground and walks were amazing plus our den was a 5 star hotel when we finished.

Only negative was after spending the best part of £30 in the cafe, when my son asked for some tap water as he can't have juice, he was refused and was asked to pay for a bottle. Problem was machine payment only above £5 all my change was in the charity box with the owls..!

User

My first visit there was yesterday we live in Leicester but my friend lives in Warwick as nice place to meet. There nice picnic areas and cafe. Good playground aswell and nice areas for walking with pirate theme areas where kids can play too. Will definitely be going back over the summer. Shame the train wasn't on though.

User

Shocked to say the least, served out of date coke and when I say out of date it's date was 31/8/17 this was from the ice cream van. Then whilst at the visitors centre some one got served an out of date ice Lolly. What is it they couldn't get rid of last year's stock so they try and get rid of it this year in hope people wouldn't notice... the only plus side was the man at visitor centre changed the drinks

User

I have been coming to Ryton pools for a long time for dog walking and have always been happy with the facilities and condition of the pools. Until this morning when I tried walking through the woods with my dog. There doesn't appear to have been any attempt to keep the marked paths in the woods clear and the paths are very overgrown with brambles at ankle level and overhanging trees and bushes at head level. In trying to follow the path between the marked points 9 to 10, there is a large fallen tree trunk which makes the path completely impassable (and looks to have been there for quite a time).

In retracing our footsteps we took a right turn instead of the left turn back to point 8 and had to walk a very long way round the wood - with no posts/markers indicating any routes - to try to get back to the main gate. If you are forced to leave the small area which has the numbered markers it would help to have some indication of the route back to the park. It would also have been helpful to have some sort of notification at the main entrance to the woods to say that the path is blocked at that point and we wouldn't have attempted it.

It was warm and I have a 13 year old dog and we both struggled to make our way back through the overgrown woods to the main park. Considering the amount of money we pay for our annual car parking pass I would like to see it being used to maintain all the facilities at the country park, including the woods, and not just the children's areas which have benefited from considerable investment.

We had a family day out. Playground and walks were amazing plus our den was a 5 star hotel when we finished.

Only negative was after spending the best part of £30 in the cafe, when my son asked for some tap water as he can't have juice, he was refused and was asked to pay for a bottle. Problem was machine payment only above £5 all my change was in the charity box with the owls..!

What a fab place. We loved it! We only got to do half of it as it started to rain and were weren't prepared for that! Brilliant cafe with great gluten free options for my children. We will be back!

User

Thank you.

Thanks very much for a fab 6th birthday party for my son and 14 of his friends this afternoon. They had a great time designing & then launching their pop bottle rockets

The ranger was really helpful. Hope it doesn’t take too long hoovering up the crushed pombears!!

User

User

Fantastic little park, perfect size walks for little legs and lots to keep them occupied. 2 very nice play parks, a lovely pirate walk that the kids loved and picnic are and a great miniature railway, couldn't fault it we will be back again.

User

Been going here for Years and have watched it transform. Walking, cycling, train rides, two play areas for kids and a great little cafe serving food and drink. Preserving nature and memorials to family members and friends who have loved this place too. The annual pass is very reasonable and helps to fund the upkeep and continued preservation of this beautiful tranquil country park.
