Sandwell Valley Country Park

Staff from the park were involved in lighting the beacon on top of the Rowley Hills this evening, marking 100 years since the end of the First World War.
The site had been superbly prepared by our Grounds Maintenance section and combined with staff from the Mayor’s office and Events Team, it was a very fitting tribute.
A beautiful and poignant ending to our Remembrance Day.

We would like to thank everyone for paying their respects at this morning’s Remembrance Parade in Dartmouth Park.
It was a beautiful service and extremely well attended.
“At the going of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them”.

Thursday 15th November - A brief history of the valley with Andy, from the days of coal mining to present, he will show you how it's changed into the wonderful reserve we know and love today.
Thursday 22nd November - Water on my mind with Paul - The 'Scary Biker' travels through exciting overseas landscapes on his pedal cycle, meets amazing people, spies special animals and visits some of the life changing work by Water Aid.
Thursday 29th November- Bees, Bees and more Bees with Aaron and Rob. An introduction to the different bees we get in Sandwell Valley and an exciting project underway to protect them.
The talks will be from 11:00am - 12:30pm, there will be a coffee (other hot refreshments available) and cake interval in the middle, this will give you a chance to ask any questions and chat with our volunteers.

Saturday 24th November - Autumnal Walk - Join us for a refreshing stroll around the reserve and look out for the signs of Autumn, from colourful leaves to returning winter visitors such as Goosanders.

There will be widespread disruption across the park this Saturday as Cancer Research’s Pretty Muddy Event takes place.
It’s looking like a lovely weekend for it. Good luck to everyone taking part.

Storm Warning. Please pay particular care when venturing into wooded areas during high winds. Although we do our utmost to ensure visitor safety seemingly healthy trees can often fail without warning.

If you would like to lend a hand helping to look after Sandwell Valley Country Park, then please let us know. Our Countryside Rangers run practical sessions every Monday and Wednesday 10am - 12.30pm. No experience required. The sessions are good fun, and as well as meeting new people, you can do your bit to help Sandwell Valley be a great place for people and for wildlife.
