This was our 4th time as a family. So much to do and see. Great family day although it was the busiest it has ever been and was abit much at times especially when grown ups pushed past our children or when a man actually physically moved my daughter out of the way so he could get to a stall.

The displays are always a real treat especially the fireworks. Every year it just gets better.

User

Remember from the first show in the rain and the need and the Mackies with vegetables that you convert the nice flowers and money and it’s thunder and is no Spencer can I want and it says play on the call it that is good we did this year 2018 next year be 2019. 2921. 2022. 2023😍😇😎🤩👍benjamin. Me and my daughter really enjoyed today! Loads on and the kids bit was excellent - just a request / suggestion for next year - any chance of getting one of the local nurseries or after school clubs to have a small crèche facility?! I really wanted to have a mooch round the food tent/see John torode and look at the flower displays - and when your on your tod with a 4 year old and lugging around everything she comes with (balloons /picnic etc) it's nigh on impossible - id happily pay an extra couple of quid to have my kids looked after for just an hour whilst I had a look around hands free :) xx

User

Lovely day out - not been for years - much more to do and see now than there used to be - great children's entertainment and lots of stalls and food outlets - on top of the marquees of flowers etc the little train ride was excellent too. We will be back next year for sure!

User

I've been attending the show for over 30 years and it has changed with time - the exhibits aren't what they were, and I don't miss the male voice choirs, but I do miss the extra brass band. The quality of the floral art is unsurpassed in the U.K. The horse show never fails to thrill, the quality and number of plant stalls is excellent, I attend for two days and I'm never bored - there's always something I'd like another look at. My family gave me life membership as a Christmas gift - a great treat for a keen amateur gardener.

User

I thoroughly enjoyed the whole day, not just the flowers and music but also the food and stalls and the little train and the events in the arena and most especially the thrilling and spectacular fireworks!

User

Had a lovely day yesterday at the flower show, the areana entertainment was good and the evening with the overtones, band and fireworks was great. Display's and crafts were lovely too.

The 2pm price is a bit steep on a Saturday.

User

Great day, not just for horticulturists as there's lots to do and see for all the family. Spectacular fireworks display closes the show each night after massed bands and choir do their arena finale - think Last Night of The Proms with real fireworks for the 1812 overture.

The only thing that could spoil your day would be torrential rain. There are 3 huge marquees, one for professional growers, one for amateur growers and one shared by food and arts and crafts. The efforts of the amateur growers is equal, if not better, than the professionals and the skills and the imagination of the local people for floral art is a wonder.

In the main arena there is show jumping, displays and variety entertainment easily seen from the gentle grass slope of the viewing area. This is the western side of the main avenue, On the eastern side can be found the band stand where there are performances throughout the day (The show has always been colloquially known as The Flower Show but until the 1970s was formally known as the Shrewsbury Musical And Floral Fete). Here too is the famous 'Dingle' sunken garden which is a hidden delight all year round but especially at Flower Show time.

The southern boundary if the show ground is the River Severn and a miniature stream railway is set up along its bank. The northern boundary is the town centre of Shrewsbury so it is possible to combine a visit to the show with a one to the historic town too and you are able to move freely from one to the other with a pass out system.

There is much I have not mentioned, including a vast variety of quality trade stands, but you need to experience it for yourself, you will not be disappointed.

Final tip, for day tickets, buy in advance online (slightly cheaper and no queues at ticket sales).

User

Great day yesterday. First visit but will definitely do again. Loved the mix of flowers, veg, crafts, clothing, food etc etc. Something for everyone. The cookery demos fab, the White Helmets fantastic and the Falconry guys hilariously bad, never laughed as much. I wonder if the kestrel and falcon have come back yet lol. The gardens stunning, the park keepers do a tremendous job. Weather sunny and dry. See you next year.

User

Fabulous day out - bought my ticket in advance so didn't notice that cost yesterday and spent just £20 all day - kids had an amazing time watching the The White Helmets, Show Jumping and then The Overtones - as a single parent on low income it was an amazingly cheap day with lots to keep the kids entertained - Thank you for keeping it Kid free not many places do especially in the holidays

User

Another great show , mostly spent in the Food Hall stewarding , never the less still a long but enjoyable day spent with a great bunch of people, fellow stewards , a celebrity chef , traders and visitors alike ! Christopher Chew you are a legend !!

User

It's the fourth year for me and same acts on the kids entertainment and most of the main arena same as before it would be nice to see some new acts the overtones were fab and the fireworks but agree with other reviews food and drink very expensive especially when u have a couple of kids in tow

User

I hadn't ever been to the show in the day, so I went with my daughter aged 11 on the Saturday. I used to go to the fireworks display with my grandad as a small child, do many many years ago. I must say I was very impressed with the fireworks display with the musical accompanying it, really made for a great spectacle. I enjoyed the signals bike display too, I hope the young man in the collision was OK... I did film it but was watching off screen and when I viewed the video I hadn't had the collision on the shot. All in all I felt the day was a pleasant one and I look forward to hopefully coming back next year. Little Rascals disco dome was a nice touch for the kids and the parents to have a sit down break without them for as long as the children played. Thank you to all involved. X

User

Had a really good day out with plenty to do. Compared to the last time I went (about 20 years ago), I was very disappointed with the flowers on display. I was expecting a lot more than there was, but what was there was beautiful. I also feel it has gone very commercialised with masses and masses of trade stalls, but this didn't detract from us having an enjoyable day.

User

Go every year even though it never changes the fireworks are our highlight. Should offer an after 9pm ticket for £5. Usual over inflated prices for food and drink at the concession stands but we will be back next year. 🙂

User

It was a good day out.. it felt on balance a mix between a flower show and a country show. The falconry show was great. It would have been nice to see more gardens. The flower displays themselves were a tad disappointing. Overall I couldnt justify spending 28£ on a ticket again which was the opinion of the whole party I was with, I would be happy to pay 15£, on balance for whats being offered I think that would be more appropriate. The massive begonias were fantastic and without them that part of the show wouldn't have worked. They were fab!!!!

User

As per other comments on here, the event is quite expensive to attend. £23 after 2pm on Saturday, when stalls start to close at 5.30pm onwards is a bit steep, but I had no choice due to work commitments. If ordered before the event a day ticket is just £2 more.....not overly proportional, is it?

The highlight was seeing my 4 year old watching the fireworks up close....she loved them. Apart from that the event is very similar each year, and is in need of freshening up to attract repeat visitors. Pricing needs adjusting too. It's great that kids are free, as single parents with 2 or 3 kids get a real bargain. A couple with one child isn't such a bargain though!

User

Not great. Went looking for flowers and beautiful displays but found masses of food stalls, clothes and tat. Guy on the PA system was inaudible. Total washout and that's not because of the rain.

User

For generations it’s been a tradition for locals to take our children to see the fireworks at night? Telling other people about the brilliant show and attracting more visitors. Could you confirm please the price for families going to see just the fireworks, say just after 8pm maybe 9pm. Several of us and I’d imagine people coming from afar will be shocked by the greed at paying £16 each to enter. That’s never right surely?
