After tonight's announcement I'm sadly going to have to postpone appointments until further notice. I will be contacting all those with appointments within the next three weeks to reschedule.
If anyone struggles with horse care I'd be happy to help out where I can.
Here is a picture of Sky today enjoying a nap in the sun - must be lovely to be completely oblivious to the world's problems!

Diamonds brother Prince is up for loan. He has been away with a professional event rider and needs to go to an experienced rider who wants to compete. He is 17hh and 7 years old by co-pilot.

Dear customers, you are in safe hands! I have just completed a two day Bhs first aid course.
As we are all aware, horses can be dangerous beasts and I thought I had better refresh my first aid knowledge. Hopefully I will never actually have to use any of it!

Must say, I'm often tempted by nice matchy bandages but then I have to ask myself do they really benefit the horse? Answer from the research is no, not really. Also, I'm pretty sure once the novelty had worn off I probably couldn't be bothered using them each day anyway!

When appointments are cancelled due to floods, what better thing to do than sit by the fire with a ginger leg warmer 🐱🔥

All this rain made me think of my most dreaded time of year...winter! It may not be nice weather to be riding and turning horses out in but regular exercise is essential for many reasons including joint health.

Another horse who never fails to make my day is Joe. When I met Joe he had been been deemed dangerous by an instructor. Luckily for Joe, his owner knew that there must be a physical problem causing his behaviour. His vet found that he had arthritis in his hocks and medicated. Joe has a treatment with me every two months and has improved massively. His owner has carried out the exercises I have set and he has a schooling session every week with a professional rider. The pictu...re with the saddle shows how poor his posture used to be with a very dipped back, his core has now strengthened and his posture has improved. Unfortunately we don't have an old picture of him without a saddle but he used to have muscle atrophy along his back under where a poorly fitted saddle had sat. I am pleased to say Joe is now a laid back happy hack which is what his owner wanted. No longer can Joe be found spooking and wildly running about in the road. For me, this just goes to show he never intended to behave in a dangerous way, it was the only way he had to communicate he was in pain. Joe's owner and I do wonder how he coped before she bought him as he is a very sensitive soul! From having a tough start in life he is now very pampered. The slightest breeze and Joe is shivering and quite often he has a rug on standby when I treat him. I think he deserves to be treated like a king after what he's been through previously, even if he is eating through his owners handbag fund 😁 Joe has certainly landed on his feet!

The best part of my job is seeing horses improve and this chap makes me so happy every time I see him . The first pictures are from when Alfie' s owner had just bought him. When I first met him, he had bad feet, was tight and sore, had muscle wastage, particularly the gluteal muscles on the left and was fairly subdued. With the help of the farrier, saddle fitter, regular physiotherapy treatment and remedial exercise carried out by his owner he's now like a new horse. He continues to get stronger, more symmetric and most importantly is a very happy boy 💚
